I appreciate this explanation. I did read his posts and found them upsetting. I’m just so happy to see you have made a new home where this total “Obot” is welcome to comment. I have one question: Will you resume the weekly health diaries? I really enjoyed them and found them so informative and sometimes funny. I know they probably took a lot of time and research but if we want to stand strong for PBO and Dems we got to stay healthy.

I so missed you all and was worried when WSY shut down so abruptly. I was afraid you all had been hacked after the troll raids the week before. I like it here and I am glad you have made me so welcome.

To ALL Teabaggers, Firefarters, AND Travesty & Corny,

Barack Hussein Obama is the President of the United States of America. He gets shit that you don’t get — shit that you will never get. He’s smarter than you, better looking than you, and nicer than you. He and his family are supposed to get secret service protection that your tax dollars pay for.

He lives in a beautifully maintained house that your tax dollars pay for. He also works harder, both mentally and physically, than you ever have.

He has done, is doing, and will do more for this country than you have ever considered. And on top of all of that, people like him. Fundamentally, he’s a nice guy who also happens to be the Commander-in-Chief of the US Military forces who gave the orders to kill pirates and Osama bin Laden.

Deal with it. Seriously. Because it’s all true. For real.

This story is just another sad example of how people on the left spend all their energy fighting among themselves. Why do we do it? It also make me glad that I have nobody else to argue with about my little Obama fan site. I made it a rule when I started my site that I would stay supportive, try to stay positive and never criticize the president. And I keep doing it because it becomes more and more obvious every day that the guy needs support, and he gets plenty of criticism elsewhere. He doesn’t need me to add to it.

These are also pretty easy rules for me to follow because I am an attorney, so I just treat the president as if he were my client.

Hey all, thanks for the background, I’d noticed the “changed tone” of your former trustees as well, but I just ignored it and focused on all the lovely, funny, smart and engaging people who comment and post here. I’m glad to have ya’ll back, and just excuse me if I refer to ya’ll as WSY from time to time. It’ll be like a nickname now…lol.

(Been editing this like a muhfugga on the fly because its hard to proofread your posts in this tight ass edit window that pops up. Apologies.)

I can’t say exactly when it was, but some interaction I had with Webb on the site a few months back made me start to pull back and observe more than post because I began to sense something just wasn’t right. I think it was around the time he posted in response to the clash between Rev Al Sharpton and Dr Cornel West on MSNBC’s “Black Agenda” farce hosted by Ed Schultz, where I questioned his contextual use of the “blessed are the peacemakers” Bible verse. At first I thought it was just our egos clashing – and Lord knows I’ve had my days where I’ve probably responded a lil too aggressively to something someone else has posted – but then I started to notice a pattern of generally dismissive comments from Webb about anything others posted to the blog.

Later, I finally surrendered to the lure of Twitter and that experience took me away from WSY for days at a time. Each time I poked my head in it was even easier to notice the subtle shift and open hostility beginning to brew in comment threads. Ironically, while all this was going on certain events like trose1′s clash/dustup with “established” blogger Joan Walsh in Twitter was actually attracting more people to the site and getting the attention of a broader share of the blogosphere, leading to the recent troll assaults that dominated the site in its final few weeks. You know you’ve truly arrived when the GG and FDL trolls decide you’re a threat and start carpet-bombing your comment threads with their bullshit in order to drown out any attempt to present an opposing viewpoint to theirs.

What truly convinced me that Webb was off on some power-trippin’ bullshit was that ugly “no one does half as much around here as I do” rant he launched at other board members who were posting comments in the same thread a few days before WSY shut down.

Then, boom, it was gone. Anybody who’s been on the net longer than 2 days knows those “under construction” signs denoting a site’s temporary inactivity went out with MC Hammer pants, and stating an entire month of inactivity was a dead giveaway that something was wrong.

I once heard an older preacher comment about how God knows how to multiply through division: like human cells, churches often end up splitting to form two, 3, even 4 or 5 new, equally healthy entities capable of broadening the reach overall. I’ve seen this same type of dynamic happening in the Obamacratic Nation. In the the past year alone, dozens of very capable but frustrated bloggers have stepped away from the 24 hour beatdown they experienced for daring show solidarity with the president at “established” sites to launch blogs of their own and found that there is a growing community of much-maligned “Obamabots” searching for someone who’s bold enough to stand in firm support of President Obama. My hope is that WSY returns as a vehicle to support the president and speak truth to those who oppose him, but recent history makes me suspect that won’t be the case.

Nevertheless, *the rapid recovery and birth of this new site is more proof Obamacrats are showing themselves to be like Bebe’s Kids: we don’t die, we multiply.

When a door closes, a window opens somewhere

Thanks for the explanation. Like others, I suspected it was something like that. I have a large family and one of my six brothers acts very much like Webb – never satisfied. Unfortunately, that describes Democrats in general. A more disorganized, grumbling bunch you’ll never find. But I’m going to keep it moving as do all pragmatic Obots. I appreciate the new site and will return to my regular routine of making this my first online visit each day.

I thank you for your courage in sticking together to create this new site. I was introduced to WSY through some of the great posts by ZIZI that were linked to BWD’s site. Once I visited the site and read many of the magnificent posts as well as the commentaries I was hooked. I visited WSY religiously because I enjoyed reading the posts and comments by such gifted writers as GN. Now and then I felt the need to drop a comment. Obviously, since I was a newcomer on the site, I never realized that there were tensions. I naively thought the closure of the site was probably a result of some hacking.

Now that I know this was all about internal struggles that stemmed from a person who did not want to continue supporting the President, I am determined to do all I can to support your new site. In the past, oppressors have used the tactics of divide and conquer to dominate us. I am delighted that the majority of the WSY Board refused to succumb to these tactics. Lets hope that, in this second decade of the 21st Century, we will no longer be fooled in going against the first African American President who is doing so much, against vicious opposition, to improve the lives of all Americans.

Thanks for the information. When I searched for WSY twitter feed I got the old one; and the first comment was I guess from Webb. Bitter doesn’t begin to describe it. I’m sorry he took the hard work that contributed to make that such a great site and that you all lost it. But POU will be better for it.

There is a real struggle to divide and conquer and it seems that Firebagger attitude has infiltrated the AA community as well. I might not support every policy of the president but I support him and what he is trying to achieve 100%. I came accross your site a while ago..and liked what I found…I will absolutely continue to support you and I thank you for being loyal supporters of our president..he has enough crap to deal with from Tp/GOP…AA american support is vital to the re-election of PBO..I shiver to think of the consequence of not voting or primaring the president….AA…THINK!!!
