    Appeals court affirms minority voting rights law

    (Reuters) – A federal appeals court on Friday upheld a key provision of the landmark U.S. voting rights law aimed at protecting minorities in states and local areas with a history of racial discrimination.

    The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in a 2-1 decision said Congress did not exceed its power by renewing a requirement that nine states, mostly in the South, and dozens of local governments with a history of racial discrimination get federal permission to change their election procedures.

    Congressmen Seek To Lift Propaganda Ban

    Propaganda that was supposed to target foreigners could now be aimed at us. “Disconcerting and dangerous,” says Shank.

    An amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill, BuzzFeed has learned.

    The amendment would “strike the current ban on domestic dissemination” of propaganda material produced by the State Department and the Pentagon, according to the summary of the law at the House Rules Committee’s official website.

    Man charged with alleged threat to blow up Dem Party offices

    Federal authorities charged a Madison man Friday with making a telephone threat in February to blow up the offices of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, among more than 100 calls he allegedly placed to the office this year.

    William O. Diederich repeatedly threatened to shoot Democrats and those supporting the recall of Gov. Scott Walker in phone calls he made to the Democratic Party’s office at 110 King St. in January, February and March, according to an affidavit by FBI agent Joseph Lavelle, filed in U.S. District Court in Madison.

    On Feb. 24, the affidavit states, Diederich left a voice mail message stating that when the building explodes, the bombings of Sterling Hall on the UW-Madison campus and the federal building in Oklahoma City will “seem like a firecracker compared to what’s gonna happen to you people.”

    The message states that the building was going to blow up “one of these days.”

    Unemployment rate falls in two-thirds of US states

    WASHINGTON (AP) — The unemployment rate fell in two-thirds of U.S. states last month, evidence that modest economic growth is boosting hiring in most areas of the country.

    And in many states, unemployment has fallen well below the national average, which was 8.1 percent last month. The rate was under 7 percent in 22 states in April. That compares with only 13 states in April 2011.

    The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate dropped in 37 states in April, the most in three months. Unemployment rose in 5 states and was unchanged in eight.

      Green Lady, my family has had & still has serving members of the military & we just added a new one who graduated from boot camp this week. No President & his Lady have ever treated the military with this level of concern & respect since WWII.

      What has really impressed us is not only the treatment of our troops but the concern & care being given to our families who also serve as they “stand & wait.” Families have often been for gotten until they get that sadly folded flag.

      The Obamas & the Bidens will never be forgotten for what they do for our military. They have done way more than say: “Thank you for your service.” to those returning from combat with no job, no home and maybe no legs. They are doing the REAL WORK to aid our military & their families.

      Blessings be upon all their heads & the houses that raised these good people up to be our leaders.

    The problem with running against every incumbent president, but especially this one, is that you don’t ever want to look like you’re rooting against America. So Romney needs a deft touch. And it’s not in him.
