Friday Evening Thread: ICYMI Videos!

Here are a few highlights from last night – IN CASE YOU MISSED IT!

Nina Turner on fire – The Ed Show (oh and some other lady was on there too)

Mitt’s colorless campaign via Rachel Maddow

The Craziest Goper? The Last Word attempts to find out

And finally, YOU DIDNT BUILD THAT – Tell’em Rev!

  • itgurl_29

So according to twitter, TNC said on Hardball that Mitt’s birther comments were just a joke.

SMH. It’s amazing to watch the transformation of a sellout in real time. I could see the signs in his writing months and months ago. And now the metamorphosis is complete.

    • GN

smdh. I didn’t watch, but I’m not surprised at that at all, sadly.

    • Ebogan63

TNC has always done this isht on some of his Atlantic columns. Y’know, when I see shit that I feel is bigoted and racist, I certainly don’t need TNC to interpret for me if what my own eyes see ain’t playin’ tricks on me.

      • TyrenM

Cue Rikyrah, I’ve been Black longer than 3 days.

    • TheShyLurker

I want those 10 minutes of my life back.

      That was excruciating to watch.

Ezra Klein was too much of a punk bitch to talk about race, however, he is of the opinion that Mitty is NOT racist. TNC was trying to have it both ways in this train wreck discussion.

    • Miranda

Its a damn shame. Quite a few folks that I read on the regular back in 2008 that you could see the shift in their writing over the past 3 years.

    • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

Both him and Ezra went out of their way to say they didn’t think Romney is racist. They were scared to tell the truth, just like that Bruner chick was scared to call out the Repubs purposely trying to suppress Black voters.

    • MsKitty

Just as well. I’m getting close to my 2K follow limit on Twitter, so clearing out a few folks here and there is all good.

    • nathkatun7

If this was a joke what exactly was the punchline? By the way, Mitt should not be throwing stones. His father, George Romney, wasn’t born in the United States, yet no body asked for his birth certificate when he ran for president in 1968. So, if you are white, it doesn’t really matter where you were born.

    • trose1

      is he on twitter?

  • lamh35

So I guess this alone with the birther joke means Robme plans to win on the white vote alone? Who’s left for them to piss off?

RNC Official Says NM Governor Disrespected Custer by Meeting American Indians
Yes, a member of the Executive Committee of the Republican National Committee

    • Miranda

They don’t give a damn bout showing their racist asses anymore. Good….let us all see it up close and in color, or lack thereof…WHITE…let the hoods come off. No need to hide it. Let everybody see them for who they are.

      • Camille

They’ve taken off the hoods and are driving around proudly with their hoods strapped to the top of their cars!

        A proud identifier.

  • lamh35

Oh hell yeah. Let’s make this shit happen. “A Different World” is the whole reason why I decided to attend an HBCU and even though I didn’t finish my degree at Southern University, the time I spent there were some of the best of my life and I still have friendship based on my time there!

Debbie Allen wants to bring ‘A Different World’ back to TV

    • Kennymack1971

      I would totally watch this.

    • rikyrah

      I would watch it too

    • Camille

Sorry Debbie, but that is the least of our problems right now.

We have an election to win. One that will determine not only the future of this country, but whether your intended audience will even have a roof over their heads or healthy minds and bodies capable of appreciating your show.

Sorry folks, but there’ll be plenty of time for Debbie Allen to push her pet projects and wish list.

      • BoomerGal

        I hear ya, Camille! TCB!!

    • Miranda

This show really did solidify my reasons for going to FAMU…and it truly was after Debbie took over that I fell in love with the show. I will never forget that Oprah show with the whole cast when she came from behind the stage in that full length mink. The cast didnt know she was gonna be there, and Dwayne and Ron bowed at her feet. She talked about how she walked on the set the first day and revamped the whole thing. Love her.

    • TyrenM

That would be real nice. Help get our kids excited about higher education (those that might need a nudge away from housewives and 16 and pregnant…)

    • Town

It would be nice to put the original on DVD.

    • Town

They need to reboot it like the new DALLAS…make it a continuation. For example, Whitley & Dwayne were pregnant & moved to Japan on the last episode in 93.

That child should be 18/19 years old now, just the right age to play a Hillman freshman or sophomore.

Have the ADW continuation centered around that child and his/her pals at Hillman.

Dwayne could be the head of the Computer Sciences dept at Hillman while Whitley does …”something”.

Gramma Patti Labelle and Gramma Dihann Carroll can have their hijinks too.

  • GN

rikyrah is right; this really is Goldie Taylor’s vaseline, earrings taken off issue:

    @goldietaylor
I watched that clip again and again. He wasn’t joking. It was an all out assault of the legitimacy of this president.

    ‏@goldietaylor
Jabbing his finger at the ground, his voice did not waver. The only thing missing was “unlike somebody I know…”

    @goldietaylor
I am deeply offended that any news outlet would deem this a joke.

    @goldietaylor
Limbaugh On Romney’s ‘Test-Driving’ Birth Certificate Line: ‘Right On, Right On, Right On’ http://mediaite.com/a/vfsdm

    **************

She’s not playing. I thank her, and everyone else who saw Mittens’ nod to birthers (the second of his campaign–his son got into hot water for a birther “joke” last December). It’s a relief that there are some voices speaking strongly on this issue.

    • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

      @goldietaylor
I am deeply offended that any news outlet would deem this a joke.

That’s cool but when she makes her appearances on these news outlets, will she call them out? #NOPE

      • nathkatun7

You are right Sepia. We need to see words accompanied by deeds.

    • Camilke

      About time too Goldie!

We need all self respecting Americans to speak up clearly and truthfully about the shameful treatment of this great President!

  • GN

    Just sick.

    @TPM:
Romney defends his birther line: “The crowd loved it” http://tpm.ly/Phx27E

    • dannie22

      what a loser

    • Kennymack1971

This man is a punk and a coward. But I’m glad he went there because no how hard the left and right media try to cover for him Mitt Romney fully and openly embraced racism today. The MSM can spin it all they want but that’s what Mitt did with that BS birther joke of his. As Gov. Chris said in the other thread..IT IS ON.

      • MsKitty

I’m looking forward to the ways the media will twist themselves into pretzels when Willard finally slips up and calls Barack Obama a nigger. Like I was saying to somebody expect to hear gems like “He really meant to say the President was a ‘ninja’ ” or “He was thinking about the time he took a cruise on the River Niger and got confused.”

Save this post because I will bet all my earthly possessions that this is how it will go down.

        • BoomerGal

Yeah but when it DOES!! Remember what Miranda said up thread!! Alot o’” slow sangin and flower brangin.” LMAO!!!

    • Aquagranny911

He said that the dog just loved riding on top of the car, too. People were just thrilled when they got fired & his sons thought it was great when he shoved their faces into plates of food.

This dude is a real sick sociopath & must be STOPPED!

      • Miranda

He truly does give off a Ted Bundy vibe.

    • rikyrah

      uh huh

      uh huh

  • lamh35

so wait, they are moving Marco’s speech so Miss Ann can speak on national tele? methinks some Cuban Americans are gonna be pissed.

Oh and BTW, Obama will have the “Hispanic Oprah” Cristina and J Castro as speakers!

Seriously, is there anyone left for Mittens to poop on?

    • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

I just read on Twitter that Rubio offered his time slot to Miss Ann, but she moved her speech to Tues, and he’ll keep his original Thurs slot.

ATTENTION ALL NEGROES: For all those negroes that I met today registering voters who dont believe in voting for one reason or another, whether you dont want to sit on the jury or you believe that THE MAN has the system so jacked that it doesnt matter who wins, listen carefully.

If Mitt Romney wins and kicks you out of your section 8 housing, cuts your WIC your SNAP and your Social Security, please, DONT COME CRYING TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because I will not be helping you. From my perch in Greenland, I will be watching the American Hunger Games on t.v., because I am not staying here!!

Hopefully, they can put that blunt down long enough to get registered ( I ain’t blaming nobody for smokin cause they got to do something to deal with shit every day and I DO understand). Secondly, alot of them think because they have a felony, they cannot vote. Now, I know felons could vote in 2008 and don’t know if this has since changed.

      • dannie22

its a good point but in Ohio felons can vote. as long as you are out of jail, there are no restrictions

        • BoomerGal

          Thanks dannie. Good to know.

  • goldenstar

POU needs to get a hold of the Block The Vote segment on Rev. Al’s show. There is a movement that trains folks to harass voters and election workers. A Colorlines reporter, Brentin Mock, went inside to report this story.

    • rikyrah

Rachel Maddow had a segment on this last night.

    • Miranda

That movement’s gonna get some folks asses kicked seriously. I really wanna see that movement send some “pollwatchers” down to the Adams Recreation Center off King Blvs in southwest Atlanta and see what happens.

Gonna be some slow sangin and flower brangin if they try that stunt.

      • trose1

“Gonna be some slow sangin and flower brangin if they try that stunt.”

Hell yes because someone has told these white people Black people are docile and stupid

      • TyrenM

The fucked up thing is that too will slow votes in our areas. Thus, they win. Votes slowed, not given due to police arresting US over THEIR bullshit…all a win for them.

I’ve been thinking about this since we had Primary a couple weeks ago. I did my DL to new address last month. Re-registered at the DMV. I go vote and they have old address. I tell them I re-registered when I paid for new license and asked if my license has arrived, how come your rolls aren’t updated? They had me re-register. I hope there’s no bs about me registering twice come November.

DOJ gonna be working Overtime this election season. Glad Holder is in charge and not Gonzalez, Ashcroft etal.

      • BoomerGal

I like that! LOL!! “slow sangin and flower brangin” Awright!

      • Tafr

LOL OMG you are crazy. They really think they are going to stop black folks from voting really????? When the president has a 94% approval rating with black folks?? Girl they are in for a rude awakening if they try to start something.

    • BoomerGal

Oh yeah! And Ken Blackwell, former SOS in Ohio (a brotha) is assisting in this effort called “True Vote.” Once again, division.

  • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

And the “Let’s Black PBO For What’s Going On In Chicago” party continues.

So, this Rahiel Tesfamariam (@RahielT) admits that murders in Chicago have been going on before PBO was in office, and “that there isn’t a single politician that we could elect — even one who can claim it as hometown — that can mend all the brokenness”, but she still felt the need to write this op-ed calling out PBO.

While 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001, more than 5,000 individuals have been killed by gunfire in Chicago during the same period, as reported by WBEZ based on the Department of Defense and FBI data. And the number of Chicago homicides that have taken place this year (228) exceeds the number of Americans who have died in Afghanistan (144), according to The Daily. Some sources report that murders are up 35 percent from last year with the Chicago Tribune putting the percentage increase as high as 49.25 percent.

For months, many of us have waited for President Obama to give voice to the violence haunting civilians in his hometown. Unfortunately, his words came via a videotaped message that never aired. And even then, it seems that his statement still fell short of a war cry for Chicago as he spoke of the need to “provide stronger role models than the gang-banger on the corner.”

The onus to be deeply troubled by and strategically responsive to Chicago’s pandemic of violence obviously doesn’t fall solely on Obama, but that’s surely the type of commander-in-chief that I want in office. One who is committed to ensuring that Americans don’t have to walk on blood-stained sidewalks day in and day out, regardless of what their zip code is. I understand that localized leadership is where the real power rests in matters like this, but are we demanding enough from our presidential candidates?

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/she-the-people/post/wanted-a-president-who-can-end-the-war-in-chicago/2012/08/24/835b5fbe-ec7e-11e1-866f-60a00f604425_blog.html

    • Kennymack1971

I understand that localized leadership is where the real power rests in matters like this

Yet she whines about President Obama anyway. I can’t with these people. I just can’t.

    • Miranda

I’m sorry…but BITCH PLEASE. I really dont have the patience for this kind of useless whining.

    • itgurl_29

I’m sorry, but I am sick of these folks demanding President Obama solve the murder crisis in Chicago. Those boys and young men are out there shooting “enemies”, and the poor innocent people who get caught in the crossfire, for a reason. And no one wants to ask the most simple and basic question: Where in the hell are their fathers? PERIOD!

Until someone actually has the courage to go there and be real about the outrageous percentage of black boys who don’t have their father in their lives, they can miss me with this blame POTUS bullshit. Sasha and Malia aren’t out there killing people because Barack Obama is handling his responsibility as a man and is raising up his children alongside his wife. Where in the hell are their fathers?

      • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

Oh, but when PBO talked about absentee fathers in the Black community, the same mofos got all offended talking about “Who does he think he is! Why won’t he go say something to the white folks!”.

        • Miranda

          *cough….Boyce….cough*

          • itgurl_29

He stays whining about child support. The way he whines, you’d think his baby mama tricked him into not wearing a condom and she and the baby are out to get him. He acts like sending a check, so his baby mama can take care of Baby Boyce on her own, is some kind of punishment.

          • rikyrah

does he whine about child support?

          • Miranda

Oh he is the founding member of the bitter buddies club. He constantly whines about child support and throws shade at black women. He aint fooling nobody. Probably one of the reasons he hates PBO is because he has a beautiful strong black woman that’s got his back and not ashamed to show it in public.

        • itgurl_29

The root of the problem is in the home and black people do NOT want to acknowledge that. It’s not just because of poverty and too few police. There’s people living in abject poverty all over the world and yet there aren’t a dozen kids being murdered every weekend in their own communities by their own people.

Boys need male guidance and if they don’t have it, they will search for it. And if they see male bonding in a gang, they will gravitate towards it. They already have strikes against them with their neighborhoods being rough and their schools not being up to par. Throw in the fact that there’s no father to guide them through those rough neighborhoods and bad schools, and the kid will have it worse.

But we ain’t supposed to talk about that. It’s the truth, though.

          • TyrenM

            Alright POU here I go:
Whey doesn’t he blame… the system that separates Black families? Making Black families separate for government aid? Putting more Black men in prison than our population dictates? The noisemakers that tell young girls and women “you don’t need a man” even though there’s more than enough research to suggest our children have a much better chance of success with 2 ACTIVE parents? (I’ll leave out the school-to prison pipeline.)

I say this not to elevate donors, but fathers. And I certainly won’t elevate abusers. All children need both parents participation.
Back to Rahiel, why don’t he take this to the Mayor? It’s ignorant to go in on President over local issues.

            Have a good weekend all.

          • BoomerGal

Now you’re getting closer to what is REALLY goin on. This is what I’m talkin about!! You can’t just stop at the house or down the block or even a particular side of town. It’s much deeper than that and it’s designed that way FOR A REASON. Even the division amongst each other is PLANNED.

“A house divided against itself will not stand.” Abe Lincoln

          • TyrenM

Actually, the soul patrol better shut up as well.. they were the same folk saying Obama lecturing our community.

I’m a Chicagoan and have never heard of this person. Is this person active in Chicago communities? Which ones? It’s not that I know everything, but it’s highly unusual for somebody to write this kind of article w/ no reputation here….

The idea that Tanehisi Coates as terribly unimpressive and barely average as he is, has some advanced and compelling perspective on, over and about President Obama and race that qualifies him as credible and trumps the President’s – and to be invited to make categorical pronouncements on television and elsewhere as an expert on the subject or any other for that matter, is frightening.

    The idea that Tanehisi Coates as painfully average, small,  insecure, not really well- spoken, generally unimpressive, inconsequential, obviously burdened with an incurable inferiority complex that compels him to try to elevate himself for money & notoriety by offering  up his terribly unimpressive black face service to cater to the narrative the racist professional left and right are desperate to push about President Obama’;

The very idea that this person gets to be enthusiastically embraced and given not just several platforms and a megaphone, but the benefit of the doubt, and is cast as somehow credible and even qualified to challenge President Obama  - his unique life experiences, opinions, assertions and narratives, – by the very same folks who consistently query, insult and attempt to poke holes in President Obama’s personal and professional being, is all we need to know to understand that this bogus and hate driven effort to diminish and put President Obama in his white supremacist assigned place has indeed reached new amusing and unbelievable heights.

In a world were the red carpet is laid out  for Tahenisi Coates and Tahenisi Coates  is even momentarily treated as relevant and somehow more credible, compelling & intelligent –  even if just for convenience – by the vey same group of folks who’ll do anything in their power to destroy, tear down, denigrate and diminish the most superior, most brilliant, most dignified, most evolved, most inspirational, most amazing President in a generation  - simply because he happens to be black and refuses to fit their prescribed stereotypes and kowtow to them -

    In that world were Donald Trump is a statesman and requiring that Romney as previous presidential candidates have done, release his taxes, is considered “prying and disrespectful” and an “attack”;

In that world, folks like Tahenisi Coates can opt to be humored, undeservedly celebrated and conveniently elevated by agreeing to be used and exploited in return for a few pieces of silver, to give cover or to simply amplify the voices and efforts of hate blinded, self-aggrandizing, deluded racists on the left and right.

But Tahenisi Coates must know that not only do his masters have zero regard for him – they actually disdain and mock his type – and in the end, he returns to his hell hole to count his soon to be used up spoils.

He serves no purpose beyond being embarrassingly and laughably used to demean, chip away at and denigrate the brilliant black man in the White House.

Nobody will ever ask Tahenisi Coates his thoughts or opinions about any white president past or future. Not even the folks on Sesame Street will have the need for a Tahenisi Coates analysis on anything.

That’s just how relevant Tahenisi Coates really is in the scheme of things.

You? I’m done with Ezra K. You all here at POU have said he ain’t shit. We’ll, all his false equivacating, he didn’t mean it when we ALL know exactly what the fuck he’s talking about…I’m done. He needs his ass out of Prime Time.

      • trose1

why was he acting like he was scared to talk about race? What was that about?

        • BoomerGal

He was “uncomfortable” talking about race ( just like most white folks) because they fear the truth and refuse to admit responsibility for the “ugly history of racism in this country.” The truth is a hard pill to swallow.

        • TyrenM

Afraid he might get his ass kicked when he stepped outta 30 Rock.

        • GN

The only race discussions they want to entertain are those which posit that racism is an inadequacy of the PBO admin, not a sick ill which predated and will postdate said admin.

He had to keep reminding everyone that he was definitely not, absolutely wouldn’t, completely unfathomable to think it, case closed, no way ever, GTFOH how could you think it, please don’t mistake it, I am NOT. CALLING. MITT. ROMNEY. RACIST.

This motherfucker Romney is a BIRTHER. He just alluded to a racist conspiracy that the President of the United States is not American because this POTUS is BLACK. This is the second Romney campaign bite at the birther apple. The NYT piece on Romney’s birtherism noted that the audience he was speaking to, who clapped, caught his insinuation full well. I can’t entertain bullshit out of Ezra Klein, and Ta Nehisi: you just disappointed the hell out of some of us.

Federal judge approves plan for Seattle police reforms

The changes will affect almost every aspect of how police officers interact with citizens, from casual contact to the use of deadly force.

By Steve Miletich and Mike Carter
    Seattle Times staff reporters

A federal judge on Friday approved a historic settlement between the city and the Department of Justice to overhaul the Seattle Police Department, paving the way for far-reaching reforms to curtail excessive force.

But U.S. District Judge James Robart in Seattle made his ruling provisional, saying he wanted the settlement modified to give him a greater role in the selection of a court-appointed monitor and more information on how the agreement is working as it progresses.

Robart’s ruling represents just a beginning. The agreement is clouded by lingering skepticism in the police union and rank-and-file over changes that only emerged after what both sides described as roughly 100 hours of “intense, contested” negotiations.

      Good for you!

I have zero use for anyone who self identifies as a republican at this moment of our history and in light of all the republican party of today actively and publicly stands for in the age of Obama.

I’ve severed all ties with all such folk and doubly severed ties with those who come up with and deliberately hold on to debunked and patently false anti-Obama narratives as an attempt to distract from the real reason they are against this spectacular President.

It has all been incredibly enlightening and nothing will ever be the same. Nothing.

This idea that somehow they usher in Mitt and Ann Romney into the white house and all will be well and America then returns to “normal”.

To that idea I have a simple “ha ha ha”.

After President Obama saved the country from an economic calamity they now all of a sudden think Romney will be a savior. The country has already been saved. Whoever takes over will be taking over a much better country, economically and internationally, than the one President Obama inherited from Bush. It’s amazing how racism destroys people’s ability to see and think.

Mitt Romney says ‘big business is doing fine’ thanks to ‘offshore tax havens’+*
    by Jed Lewison

This guy just can’t make it through a day without shoving his foot right in his mouth, can he?

“Big business is doing fine in many places,” Romney said during a campaign fundraiser Thursday. “They get the loans they need, they can deal with all the regulation. They know how to find ways to get through the tax code, save money by putting various things in the places where there are low tax havens around the world for their businesses.”

I know “big business is doing fine” sounds like “the private sector is doing fine,” but it’s not exactly the same thing—though Mitt Romney would probably justify removing the “big” from his quote, because who cares about what words actually mean. Still, I’ll read the quote like a normal person instead of a Romney hack and cut him some slack on hypocrisy there. But here’s the thing: I honestly don’t know if he’s praising or condemning offshore tax havens.

I mean, with a normal politician you’d assume Romney was condemning them. And you’d assume he wasn’t speaking highly of big business. But Mitt is a guy who says that anyone who dares criticize business hates America, and that anything other than unadulterated love for free enterprise is akin* to Stalinism—so he couldn’t be criticizing big business. And given that he says offshore tax havens are part of the reason that big business is doing fine, you have to assume that he’s in favor of them, right?

Tax experts find shady, possibly illegal, dealings in documents related to Romney’s Bain investments+*

    by Meteor Blades

He has no idea what the company he was founder and head of for
15 (or so) years does with his investments. Really.
Tax experts poring over leaked confidential documents from Boston-based Bain Capital in which Mitt Romney and his wife have invested millions of dollars have found the private equity firm used some head-shaking but perfectly legal tax-avoidance techniques as well as at least one that probably is outside the law. Bain manages $65 billion in assets.
Romney, who founded Bain in 1984 and remained with the firm until 1999 or 2001 or 2002, depending on whom you talk to, receives significant income from Bain as part of his retirement package. Some of the investments that are part of this package were created after he left the firm. His financial advisers have also invested additional money from his personal fortune, estimated at a quarter-billion dollars, in the Bain’s highly complex instruments.

The 950 pages of documents were posted on line Thursday by the website Gawker.com. They include audited financial statements, investor correspondence and other material that outsiders were not supposed to see. A Bain spokesman lamented their disclosure. The documents also contain some new details of Romney’s investments. While some of Bain’s investments are publicly known, others are not, and Romney has refused to discuss the underlying assets on his federally required public disclosure forms. Gawker did not say where or how it obtained the documents. It asked readers with expertise for help in decoding them.

I guess too many coloreds on twitter now huh?

Is a ‘white flight’ from social media on the horizon?

Legendary Public Enemy frontman, rap artist and activist Chuck D, once told me that the title of the group’s track “Fear of a Black Planet” was a metaphor that addressed whites’ fear of being associated with people of color, and all the cultural and economic issues that integration brings.

It might seem unrelated, but a little thing called App.net that has many buzzing in the tech world might be the latest manifestation of that fear.

People are taking sides on the intent and format of what promises to be a Twitter-like social feed in which, as the product’s homepage states, “users and developers come first, not advertisers.” The greatest talking point in the debate over its launch is the fact App.net will require an annual $50 membership fee. This cost might create a space segregated by class and color on the web, prompting richer (usually white) people to flee social media outlets like Twitter on which people of color overindex for more exclusive environs.

Poll: Obama Leads By 4 In Colorado, Boosted By Women, Latinos
Tom Kludt – 5:01 PM EDT, Friday August 24, 2012

President Barack Obama holds a 4-point lead over Mitt Romney in Colorado, according to a new poll released Friday.

The survey, released jointly by-state progressive firm Keating Research and Onsight Public Affairs, shows Obama earning the support of 48 percent of likely voters in Colorado, while Romney trails with 44 percent. Conducted August 21-22 — over a week after Romney’s selection of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as his running mate — the poll indicates that the addition of the House Budget Committee chairman has not given the Republican ticket much of a bump in the state, the pollsters argue.

“Clearly, Romney’s choice of Ryan as his running mate has not provided an impact on the Presidential race in Colorado,” said Chris Keating, president and founder of Keating Research.

Obama’s lead in the poll is due in no small part to his strength among Colorado women and Latinos, among whom he leads Romney by 10 and 33 points respectively.

A majority of Americans, 54 percent, believe Obama is more likable, compared with 31 percent for Mitt Romney, giving the president a 23 percentage point advantage.

    - – — – — NEGATIVES!!- – —

    - The president leads Mitt Romney on a variety of personal characteristics. Obama leads, 52 percent to 36 percent, on the question of who “care about the needs of people like you”; leads 48 percent to 36 percent on “honest and trustworthy”; 47 percent to 42 percent on “strong and decisive leader.”

Obama further leads Romney, 45 percent to 40 percent, on the issue of who would be better working with both parties to get things done in Washington.

    - – -Birther joke sparks tax-return retorts – -

    – - –Mitt Romney joked about his birth certificate during a campaign stop Friday in Commerce, Mich. — a not-so-subtle reference to “birthers” who still question Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president despite definitive proof that he was born in the United States.

“No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate,” Romney said. “They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

Showing its own sense of humor, the Obama campaign’s Twitter feed responded by declaring Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.” its “song of the day.”

Meanwhile, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh addressed the joke on his show later Friday, suggesting that Romney was testing out the line.

“Romney gets up to the microphone, it’s his turn to speak, and he test-drives that line,” Limbaugh said.

The comment sparked a furor on Twitter — the left responding with outrage about Romney’s failure to release more tax returns, and the right claiming that the joke was acceptable because the president himself has joked about his birth certificate. Of course, many others simply made jokes of their own.

Mitt Romney asks, ‘Why Don’t the Brothers Love Me?’ – –

    – - -I don’t guess it should come as much of a surprise, but nevertheless I do find it entertaining that a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal poll finds Mitt Romney to be supported by 0 percent of African American voters. No, not 1 percent, or even 3 or 4.

    Donut hole.

And then, when you factor in the margin of error, which is plus or minus 3.1 %, the rather surreal scenario suggests that the actual number of black folks who do not want Romney to be president is less than zero. I mean, no one ever expected to see any large percentage of African Americans going for the Republican candidate, especially when the incumbent Democrat is the nation’s first African American president. But that hollow echoing sound coming from that zero got me to thinking about that great song from the late Billy Preston, “Nothing from Nothing”:
    THE WORDS!! – - -LOL

    – -P.S. – -Still, you gotta think he’s wondering how his addition to the Romney ticket couldn’t attract at least a couple. I mean can’t a white man get points for daring to spread his love across the color line?

Oh cruel, cruel fate. – - —LOL

Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” remark forced fellow Republicans to publicly explore the details of how they think about abortion — details that don’t serve their broader argument and that give Democrats a chance to reframe the debate, conservatives say. It’s okay to be human AG; The occasional bout of worry and weariness not only remind us we are human, but keep us on our toes ensuring that we take absolutely nothing for granted.

In 2008 I fretted and worried. Voted early and did all my volunteering until the day before the elections; took the day off work on election day and spent the day in complete isolation.

I turned off all television, radio, internet and pretty much isolated myself the entire day. I left the house only to attend weekday mass and refused to even listen to music as I drove. It was eerily quiet all day.

Early evening my usually quiet neighborhood erupts in wild chants of “Obama!” and the telephones wouldn’t stop ringing – I knew we’d won!

I took a call from my incredibly prim and usually aloof sister and she was screaming wildly “he won Virginia! They’ve called Virginia for him! Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, he’s won! Oh my God he’s won!” I broke down and wept.

I was still crying as I turned on the television and Wolf Blitzer was projecting that Barack Obama would be the 44th President of the United States. I could not stop crying.

You have to believe that there is simply no way God is going to reward these evil, hateful republicans who have been so brazen, arrogant and unapologetic in their very public and ungodly acts of disrespect and sabotage against President Obama and the United States of America.

God has not brought Barack and Michelle Obama this far only to be humiliated by racists.

Barack Obama is the 21st century David. He faces not one but several Goliaths but only because God has allowed it. God will use President Obama’s victory on November 6, 2012 to remind everyone especially the Bible-totting, gun-wielding, hate-blinded racists that He our Lord is still very much in charge.

Not the Koch brothers, not Sheldon Adelson, not Donald Trump, not Roger Ailes or Rupert Murdoch, not the complicit media, not Jamie Dimon and his Wall Street cronies, not Rush Limbaugh and especially not the hollow, craven Mitt Romney.

On November 6, 2012, prepare to be in complete awe once again of God even as the evil alliance formed to defeat Barack Obama is left totally confounded and scratching their heads.

      Believe.
