Friday Open Thread: Baldwin’s Nigger

This concludes our look at Baldwin’s Nigger.

  • Miranda

Good Morning to ya’ll but this was the first thing I read on my twitter timeline this morning…so a good morning for me aint happening.

“I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections,” the Republican presidential nominee said. “And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or whatever your political view, I hope you pass those along to your employees.”

Chuckling a bit, Romney added, “Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I believe that will figure in to their election decision, their voting decision.”

    • Admiral_Komack

      Willard being heavy-handed and stupid.
      Don’t sweat it.
      Just keep on keeping on.

      • Camilke

The man is so inept and daft and oozes entitlement from every greasy pore. He will keep overplaying his hand until he finally trips over himself and falls flat on his face.

For someone who had so many elite opportunities right from childhood, Mitt Romney certainly lacks a certain sophistication not just in thought and deed, but especially in word.

Funny that unlike so many in his supposed social class, there is absolutely nothing about him that inspires, or elicits the good kind of envy. Or the bad for that matter.

There is something sad and cursed about Mitt and Ann Romney and they appear to walk around with a dark aura about them.

Like people with sinister motives and long-held dark family secrets. The sort that eventually sends the wife over the edge and into full-blown madness – confined to a room and away from the public eye forever.

        • Town

I’m convinced the only reason Mitt is running for President is because Miss Ann decided she wanted to be First Lady.

          • Camille

Mrs Obama has made that role look so fun and lustworthy even under the most adverse circumstances.

Now Ann wants it. Just like her dancing horses, if it awkwardly elevates her into some elite group, Ann craves it.

For a woman who’s hardly done much of anything in her sad, empty life, Ann Romney sure has an overblown sense of entitlement.

But no Ann, the first lady role will never be yours. Never.

          • caribbeanobserver

Nah, the reason he is running is that the good ole white boys clique felt that he was the one with money that can buy America, with his so-called face of charm and slicksalesmanship. Little did they know he is not ‘all that’ and is just an insincere, immoral, charmless, serial liar.

        • rikyrah

          he is an entitled sociopath

    • gc

go on, mitt, keep chuckling inappropriately. People might come conclusions you won’t like.

    • Oh, so now Romney is encouraging business owners to threaten their employees to vote for him?

Please, oh please let there be audio of this so OFA and the DNC can run it in an ad!

      • rikyrah

is it on video or audio?

        • Neither as far as I know.

      • Camille

        No surprise here.

Bank of America for instance passed around memos to its employers in 2008 making the argument for and urging its employees to vote republican and warning of the consequences for not doing so.

And shortly after the elections BoFA let go as many employees, starting with vocal Obama supporters— to teach them the promised lesson.

And this happened in California. The Bay Area!

  • This mofo right here…

    Marc Lamont Hill ‏@marclamonthill
The President should fire his speech writer:

But since he went there with the Obamaphiles snottiness, then his Bill O’Reilly’s bitch ass can go sit down somewhere with that mess.

      • Funny how he can get froggy with us, but giggles like a little girl when O’Reilly comes at him.

    • Camille

Marc Lamont officially became the joke ages ago and voluntarily gave up any right to interact with smart society or to be listened to. To ever be taken seriously, he’s got to first take off that kick me hard label stuck on his butt.

Anyone who for a few pennies signs up to be FOX “news” foolish village nigga idiot/ piñata, cannot possibly have any basis or sliver of authority – moral, intellectual, cultural etc. to ever open his mouth in respectable company.

Booker’s big mouth ruins relationship with Obama, Cabinet hopes

    Last Updated: 6:25 AM, June 8, 2012
It’s bye-bye, Beltway for Cory Booker.

Newark’s mayor, who was gunning for a spot in President Obama’s Cabinet, lost the chance after he shot his mouth off during a blunderingly honest TV appearance last month, sources told The Post.

“He’s dead to us,” one ranking administration official said of the prevailing feelings at the White House and Obama headquarters in Chicago.

Booker had been angling for the housing secretary gig in a second Obama term, according to sources in the administration and close to the mayor.

The job was certainly a possibility, given Booker’s work in New Jersey’s biggest city, according to administration and Democratic Party sources.

      Honest to who?

      Did Obama lie?

    • Camille

It’s still the NY Post Sep.

And as much as I despise Cory Booker, I can’t believe that any “ranking administration official” said any such thing to anyone, especially not the NY Post.

President Obama and his team are way too smart and slick for this sort of glib throw away with specifics.

More like the schtick of the crass Clinton crowd like Howard Fineman’s invisible sources or Chris Matthews’ high ranking Democratic sources (sour Ed Rendell).

And the current HUD secretary Shaun Donovan Isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He likes his job and will stay on in the President’s second term.

  • Trade Deficit in the U.S. Narrows as Imports and Exports Fall
By Shobhana Chandra – Jun 8, 2012 8:30 AM ET

The trade deficit in the U.S. narrowed in April as a drop in imports overshadowed the first decline in exports in five months.

The gap shrank 4.9 percent to $50.1 billion from $52.6 billion in March that was higher than previously estimated, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast in a Bloomberg News survey of 73 economists called for the deficit to shrink to $49.5 billion. Both exports and imports fell from the prior month’s record highs.

Stagnation in Europe and cooling growth in China may restrain exports of American-made goods, which have been contributing to growth in the world’s largest economy. At the same time, domestic demand will help sustain the pace of imports, making further improvement in the trade balance more difficult.

“The contribution from trade will be fairly neutral over the year,” Aneta Markowska, chief U.S. economist at Societe Generale in New York, said before the report. “We could see a slowdown but not an outright collapse in exports as global growth slows.”

    – – – –Dems call on House panel to release Waters report in ethics case– — –

    – – – –Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and 68 of her Democratic colleagues are pushing the House Ethics Committee to release a recently completed report that absolved the secretive panel of any wrongdoing in its case against the veteran lawmaker.

In a letter sent Thursday to Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the panel’s acting chairman on the Waters case, and Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), the committee’s ranking member, the bevy of nearly 70 lawmakers called on the committee to make public the report that special counsel Bill Martin recently completed.

Goodlatte and Yarmuth outlined the report’s findings in a general letter to Waters on Wednesday, finding that while someone on the committee had leaked information about her case to the press and racially insensitive remarks had been leveled at Waters, there were no grounds to dismiss the charges brought against her.

Waters has maintained her innocence for nearly three years, as the committee has investigated whether she violated House rules after allegations surfaced that she secured funding for a bank in which her husband owned stock.

Has Ronn Paul even withdraw, or is he still taking donations from his followers? Town did say….
    Rand Paul endorses Mitt Romney

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has endorsed Mitt Romney’s presidential bid, throwing his weight behind the presumptive GOP nominee even as his father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), has yet to fully terminate his White House bid.

Rand Paul made the move in an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity.”

“Well, you know, my first choice had always been my father. … He is still my first pick,” Paul said, according to a rush transcript of the appearance. “But now that the nominating process is over, tonight, I am happy to announce I am supporting Governor Romney.”

In a statement, Romney said that he was “honored” to receive the endorsement of Paul, a freshman lawmaker and founding member of the Senate Tea Party Caucus who is believed to be mulling his own future bid for national office.

“Senator Paul has been a leading voice in the effort to scale back the size and reach of government and promote liberty,” Romney said. “Over the past three and half years, President Obama has made government more and more of a presence in our lives, and Americans can’t afford four more years of the same failed policies. As president, I will reform the federal government and make it smaller, simpler, and smarter.”

So are “Walmart moms” the new demographic we will hear ad nauseaum…what happened to “soccer moms…does a team have to sponsor them?”

Can Romney Convince Walmart Moms He’s Up to the Job?

A group of 20 women voters from Richmond, Va., and Las Vegas offered some interesting insights into the dilemma facing many swing voters this election.

Many of these women are struggling economically. They spoke of losing houses and jobs. One woman even said that she and her husband want more kids ”but we can’t afford to have more.”

These 20 women – all were moms who shop at Walmart at least once a month – were part of two focus groups conducted by Democratic pollster Margie Omero and Republican pollster Alex Bratty, and sponsored by Walmart.

They expressed disappointment with the job Obama has done so far on the economy. When asked about what accomplishments he’d achieved in his three years in office, many of the women responded with blank stares and silence. In Richmond, the question hung in the air for a while until finally one woman piped up, “His wife is encouraging us to eat healthy.”

Yet, they also believe that three years is a short amount of time to fix the big, fat mess that Obama inherited.

Karla, a 35-year old mom of three from Las Vegas, who said she voted for a candidate other than Obama or McCain in 2008, said “Obama has only had three years. You cannot grow a flower in a week.”

    read more:

I will bet you anything they went to the Walmart in Short Pump to do their focus group. There are 2 Walmarts in Eric Cantor’s district…Short Pump is one and Mechanicsville is the other…but people from the hood shop at the Mechanicsville one whereas the Short Pump Walmart is located in a VERY affluent, Tea Party Pro Republican area (Cantor’s neighborhood)…

…all the other Walmarts in Richmond are basically located near the hood….

These nitwits don’t know about DADT reversal, gay marriage stance, unemployment dropping or the contraceptive fight(which some of them apparently need to use, because being clueless or stupid can be genetic and they don’t need to share). They couldn’t even name those things? How about ACA? Hell, the tax fight, anything? Are they really that unaware and brain dead?

From Rev. Otis Moss, III – Pastor, Trinity United Church of Christ

The following words are from the Reverend Otis Moss, Senior Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois concerning President Obama’s recent public endorsement of Gay Marriage.

    My Brother:

Tell your brethren who are part of your ministerial coalition to “live their faith and not legislate their faith” for the Constitution is designed to protect the rights of all. We must learn to be more than a one-issue community and seek the beloved community where we may not all agree, but we all recognize the fingerprint of the Divine upon all of humanity.

There is no doubt people who are same-gender-loving occupy prominent places in the body of Christ. For the clergy to hide from true dialogue with quick dismissive claims devised from poor biblical scholarship is as sinful as unthoughtful acceptance of a theological position. When we make biblical claims without sound interpretation we run the risk of adopting a doctrinal position of deep conviction but devoid of love. Deep faith may resonate in our position, but it is the ethic of love that forces us to prayerfully reexamine our position.

The question I believe we should pose to our congregations is, “Should all Americans have the same civil rights?” This is a radically different question than the one you raised with the ministers, “Does the church have the right to perform or not perform certain religious rites.”

There is difference between rights and rites. We should never misconstrue rights designed to protect diverse individuals in a pluralistic society versus religious rites designed by faith communities to communicate a theological or doctrinal perspective. These two questions are answered in two fundamentally different arenas. One is answered in the arena of civic debate where the Constitution is the document of authority. The other is answered in the realm of ecclesiastical councils where theology, conscience and biblical mandates are the guiding ethos. I do not believe ecclesiastical councils are equipped to shape civic legislation nor are civic representatives equipped to shape religious rituals and doctrine.

The institution of marriage is not under attack as a result of the President’s words. Marriage was under attack years ago by men who viewed women as property and children as trophies of sexual prowess. Marriage is under attack by low wages, high incarceration, unfair tax policy, unemployment, and lack of education. Marriage is under attack by clergy who proclaim monogamy yet think nothing of stepping outside the bonds of marriage to have multiple affairs with “preaching groupies.” Same-gender couples did not cause the high divorce rate, but our adolescent views of relationships and our inability as a community to come to grips with the ethic of love and commitment did. We still confuse sex with love and romance with commitment.

My father, who is a veteran of the civil rights movement and retired pastor, eloquently stated the critical nature of this election when speaking to ministers this past week who claim they will pull support from the President as a result of his position. He stated, “Our Ancestors prayed for 389 years to place a person of color in the White House. They led over 200 slave revolts, fought in 11 wars, one being a civil war where over 600,000 people died. Our mothers fought and were killed for women’s suffrage, our grandparents were lynched for the civil rights bill of 1964 and the voting rights act of 1965…my father never had the opportunity to vote and I believe it is my sacred duty to pull the lever for every member of my family who was denied the right to vote. I will not allow narrow-minded ministers or regressive politicians the satisfaction of keeping me from my sacred right to vote to shape the future for my grandchildren.”

“The institution of marriage is not under attack as a result of the President’s words.”

Gay and lesbian citizens did not cause the economic crash, foreclosures, and attack upon health care. Poor under funded schools were not created because people desire equal protection under the law. We have much work to do as a community, and to claim the President of the United States must hold your theological position is absurd. He is President of the United States of America not the President of the Baptist convention or Bishop of the Sanctified or Holiness Church. He is called to protect the rights of Jew and Gentile, male and female, young and old, Gay and straight, black and white, Atheist and Agnostic. It should be noted the President offered no legislation, or executive order, or present an argument before the Supreme Court. He simply stated his personal conviction.

If we dare steal away from the noise of this debate, we will realize as a church we are called to “Do justice, live mercy and walk humbly with God.” Gay people have never been the enemy; and when we use rhetoric to suggest they are the source of our problems we lie on God and cause tears to flow from the eyes of Christ.

I am not asking you to change your position, but I am stating we must stay in dialogue and not allow our own personal emotional prejudices or doctrines to prevent us from seeing the possibilities of a beloved community.

November is fast approaching, and the spirits of Ella Baker, Septima Clarke, Fannie Lou Hammer, Rosa Parks, A. Phillip Randolph, James Orange, Medgar Evers and Martin Luther, King Jr. stand in the balcony of heaven raising the question, “Will you do justice, live mercy and walk humbly with our God?”

Emmitt Till and the four little girls who were assassinated in Alabama during worship did not die for a Sunday sermonic sound bite to show disdain for one group of God’s people. They were killed by an evil act enacted by men who believed in doctrine over love. We serve in ministry this day because of a man who believed in love over doctrine and died on a hill called Calvary in a dusty Palestinian community 2,000 years ago. Do not let the rhetoric of this debate keep you from the polls, my friend.

Asking you to imagine a beloved community, your brother and friend,

    Otis Moss, III
, Senior Pastor
Trinity UCC

This is the type of bullshit accepted in this country. CEOs have been catered to, is the de facto Congress, and yet these mofos who are sitting on cash, are shocked that the unemployment is still an issue. Instead of contributing to increase unemployment, they go by the GWBush mantra that consumerism and spending by the have-nots will keep this country almost instead of those who are hoarding the money and watching others in despair. Hire some people!!!!! And the no-good ass media will challenge them on this.

CEOs Lose Their Optimism as Job Slowdown Imperils U.S. Growth

U.S. chief executive officers are turning more pessimistic about a second-half recovery as rising unemployment and Europe’s debt turmoil threaten domestic growth prospects.

….CEOs see jobs as a key driver of growth, even as they keep a lid on their own spending and hiring. Supervalu Inc. (SVU)’s Albertsons grocery store chain said this week it will cut as many as 2,500 jobs. Hewlett-Packard has announced the biggest round of job cuts out of any U.S. company this year, at 27,000, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

I think it’s more important that Michelle Malkin realize that her homepage is so dark that I can’t read her hyperlinks on my MacBook Air even with the brightness turned up to the highest level. Perhaps this is intentional. It makes it difficult for me to mock her dishonesty and borderline insanity.

I haven’t seen a collective freakout like this since people started buying duct tape by the crate in 2002. It’s hard to think of a worse way to try to protect our First Amendment rights than forming an online lynch mob to smear some random voting rights activist and then coming up with all kinds of conspiracy theories about how you’re being persecuted as a result.

They’ve actually terrified themselves. They’re convinced that if they say anything further about this poor activist that a SWAT team will show up at their houses and treat them like anti-NATO activist.
    – — -SNIP – —

Personally, I might be willing to stand with these lunatics in support of their First Amendment rights if they weren’t such dishonorable and loathsome people. As it is, I won’t stand within a 100 yards of these freaks. They have the right to attack people within the bounds of libel/slander laws, and that right should be upheld. Other than that, I guess we can enjoy their fake silence today.

–Creflo Dollar is the pastor of World Changers Church International of College Park, Georgia. Presumably he chose that name himself, completely free of fear that it would be soon be better known as Money Changers Church International by the 30,000 members who weekly enrich its coffers and make it possible for Creflo to maintain the two jets—one Gulfstream 3 and one Lear—that he uses to shuttle back and forth between Madison Square Garden (where he does a Saturday night service for an audience of 6,000) and Atlanta (where he does a Sunday morning service), not to mention occasional visits to his offices in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and Nigeria.

Creflo’s wife Taffi Dollar—and here we remind you once again that we are not lapsing into fiction at any point during the creation of this article—Taffi Dollar is responsible for the household budget at the $3 million Dollar mansion in Atlanta, and the more modest $2.44 million Dollar condo overlooking Central Park in Manhattan.

Asked about the Dollar dollars by CBS News yesterday, Dollar said it was untrue that he had two Rolls-Royces; he claimed that he only had one Rolls-Royce and it was given to him by his congregation as a surprise. He also said he did not give $500,000 of church funds to fellow prosperity gospel evangelist Kenneth Copeland on the occasion of Copeland’s 40th wedding anniversary.

Accordingly, Dollar’s annual budget for his operation was estimated at “about 80 million”.–

–Dollar was subpoenaed during divorce proceedings between heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield and Holyfield’s second wife, Janice Itson, after Itson alleged that Holyfield had donated $7 million to Dollar’s ministry just before he filed for divorce. Dollar refused to yield his financial records, but avoided contempt of court charges when the divorce was settled out of court.–

        Doggone shame.

While most of his congregation have to chose between buying basic groceries and school essentials for the kids.

This has got to be Tavis Smiley’s spiritual brother.

I was spanked as a kid, but I dont’ care what anyone says there is NO reason to “choke out” a kid. That’s way beyond a spanking, IMHO. Swinging a belt is one thing, but when you get to the point where you wrap your hands around your child’s throat and squeeze, you’ve gone beyond discipline…period.

also too, ya’ll know if always different when it’s a girl and her father. If the kid was a boy, I don’t think it would be the big story it was

Oh, so they actually booked him and everything? Hmm, do they always go so far as to arrest you? or did they catch him in the act?

      • Town

I’m no Creflo Dollar defender but did he really choke her or is the daughter trying to “get back” for him not letting her go to the party?

word on the street is that its the latter.

          • Town

If I had a child, and they called CPS on me, they’d never be allowed back into my home until they reach 18 years old. You my friend are on your own.

        • lamh35

If it is the latter then that is different. The AP article said she had “superficial” injuries…so IDK

        • rikyrah

if it’s the latter, then he ought to beat her ass for calling the DFS on him

Hardly surprising when this is the extent of ones ministry:

      Christian Meditation?
      Creflo Dollar
I’ll never forget the day I was lying on the bed, exhausted. My youngest daughter climbed on top of my chest and just started playing with my face. Then she looked at me and said, “Daddy, I love you soooo much.” Wow! I hugged that child hard, thinking, What can I give her? Where is my wallet? Pick a card, baby. Any card. Your daddy’s loaded. What do you want?

    – — – –NEW DATA: 6.6 Million Young Adults Insured Thanks To Obamacare– – – –

    – – – –Even though much of the Affordable Care Act does not go into effect into 2014, conservatives insist the bill is making things worse for Americans. But a new study shows that one implemented provision of the ACA is already providing millions of young Americans with health insurance.

According to a study by the Commonwealth Fund, 6.6 million young adults have signed up for coverage through their parents’ health insurance plans. Under the ACA provision, young people can now stay on their parents’ plans until the age of 26. About half of the 19-to-25 year-olds interviewed for the study reported opting in to their parents’ plans between November 2010 and November 2011.

    — — – SNIP- – —

    – —Some of President Obama’s staunchest critics are also beginning to realize the benefit of increased young people in insurance pools. Republican Senators Scott Brown and Roy Blunt broke ranks to speak approvingly of the provision. Even Tea Party favorite Rep. Allen West signaled his support of the measure in an interview with ThinkProgress.

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll also showed that about 71 percent of Americans view the provision favorably.

The President said he is seeing positive growth in most sectors, but that state and local government hiring is moving in the wrong direction. He called on Congress to pass his jobs plan, which would increase hiring for teachers and public safety officers, and also boost hiring in the construction sector.

He also addressed the economic situation in the Eurozone, saying that the U.S. is keeping a close eye on the European banking system. The President said he believes that European leaders are moving in the right direction to strengthen their banks.

Atlanta (CNN) — Federal health officials say 14 people in six states have been sickened by the same strain of E. coli over the past couple of months.

According to CDC spokeswoman Lola Russell, 14 cases of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O145 infection with the same DNA fingerprint were identified in six states. “Their illness onsets range from April 15 to May 12, 2012,” she said. “Three ill persons have been hospitalized. One death has been reported in Louisiana.”

    – – – —Three Democratic Senators Undecided On Extension Of Bush Tax Cuts For The Rich– —

    – – – –Two days after the White House said it would not extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich under any circumstances, multiple Democratic senators refused to rule out the same scenario.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) and Florida Sen. Bill Nelson (D), both of whom are facing re-election fights this fall, refused to take a position on ending the cuts when asked Thursday, The Hill reports:

“If you want to do something in the spirit of compromise, you don’t start out by saying, ‘I refuse to do this’ or ‘I refuse to do that,’ ” said McCaskill. “It’s not my preference to extend tax cuts to multimillionaires — that’s not my preference — but I want to keep every option open in the spirit of compromise.”

Said Nelson, “I can’t get into a hypothetical.”

According to The Hill, Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor (D) was also undecided on the issue.

Ending the Bush tax cuts for the rich, however, should be an easy decision. Republicans argue that letting the tax cuts expire will hurt job growth, even though evidence shows lower taxes on the rich don’t lead to job creation and GOP lawmakers have willingly admitted that the Bush tax cuts didn’t lead to a spike in jobs.

Listen Up! President Barack Obama Has Not Forsaken Us

Since President Barack Obama’s historic rise to the highest office in the land, he was immediately praised in the African-American community. Many Black Americans saw Obama as a history-making savior, crafting a mythic image of a man who never claimed to be more than human. Expectations skyrocketed and the cheers became jeers as some African Americans began to feel shunned and shut out from the White House’s policy advances in the last three and a half years.

Some talking heads from the left as well as Black public figures, such as Cornel West and Tavis Smiley, have increased their criticism of the President. While there is an almost rabid bloodlust present in Obama’s critics, which reeks of pettiness, there is very little mention of the policies and political strategies that the White House has put in place for African Americans since taking office.

Critics point to the economy, the mortgage crisis, and other skyrocketing issues related to the nature of the global fabric of commerce – all issues that Obama has worked feverishly within his administration to address with a largely uncooperative Congress.

    Romney’s “Unethical Stench”
PM Carpenter has reached his limit:

There no longer exists any doubt that Mitt Romney intends to win the White House by conducting the most dishonest, unscrupulous and reprehensible campaign ever devised, in mere whimsy. The unethical stench of this man is not only breathtaking, it’s meteoric. I have never seen anything like it, never heard anything like it, never imagined anything like it.

Romney will run against a fictional Obama, and Fox will provide the cover, and unless Obama is able to change the frame of this debate, the relentless propaganda will be potent. Yes, the level of deception is so great it’s breath-taking. But Romney, I’m increasingly inclined to believe, is a businessman all the way down. His ethics are about getting, as he put it, 50.1 percent of the vote in any state. He does not believe there are any ethical or principled reasons not to try and get to that 50.1 percent however he can. A businessman can compartmentalize core moral and political questions into marketing. The goal is 50.1 percent saturation.

So he marketed a bunch of policies when running in Massachusetts – blithely becoming pro-choice out of deep conviction and personal experience, implementing Obamacare on a state level as a centrist conservative, being “more pro-gay than Ted Kennedy” on discrimination. But now he is not running in Massachusetts, he will simply change the policies. He favors a constitutional amendment criminalizing all abortion, total repeal of Obamacare, and will not stand by even a gay national security spoeksman if it means offending the religious right. This is who he “is”. If a line will work against Obama, he will use it, regardless of its truth. Because there is no truth in Romney’s world. There is only advertizing.

There is something increasingly chilling about this shape-shifter, isnt there? He views himself as a product to be marketed to different audiences at different times. And the actual content of that product is completely malleable. It can change as swiftly as Mormon doctrine, when market share is at stake. To predict Romney, in other words, you simply have to merely examine the market he’s selling to.

As I noted once before, he doesn’t just believe that corporations are people; he is a walking corporation masquerading as a person.

    – – – –2,000 former NFL players file lawsuit over brain injury risks— –

    – – – – –It only takes a few seconds to tackle a football player, but the effects of a blow to the head can last a lifetime. More than 2,000 former NFL players collectively sued the league on June 7, accusing the industry of systematically hiding information related to football-related head traumas and the link to permanent brain injuries.

Helmet manufacturer Riddell, Inc., is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit, which was filed in Philadelphia on Thursday and consolidates more than 80 previously pending suits.

The plaintiffs, who included players and their family members, want the NFL to take financial responsibility for players suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other neurological conditions — both in ex-players who are currently suffering from those conditions and others who worry they may develop these medical problems in the future. The suit says the medical conditions are a direct result of football-related head injuries.

The complaint reads: “The NFL, like the sport of boxing, was aware of the health risks associated with repetitive blows producing sub-concussive and concussive results and the fact that some members of the NFL player population were at significant risk of developing long-term brain damage and cognitive decline as a result. Despite its knowledge and controlling role in governing player conduct on and off the field, the NFL turned a blind eye to the risk and failed to warn and/or impose safety regulations governing this well-recognized health and safety problem.”

The lawsuit also accuses the NFL of “mythologizing” sports-related violence.
