    Protesters rush into building housing Obama campaign headquarters

    Dozens of demonstrators dashed into the Loop building housing President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters this morning, slipping past security guards and running up escalators as they kicked off what they called a “Week Without Capitalism.”

    Eight protesters were led out in handcuffs about half an hour later after they refused to clear the lobby. They were cheered by other demonstrators who began dancing and singing folk and gospel songs.

    The demonstration, organized by the Catholic Worker movement. began with about 100 demonstrators picketing at Prudential Plaza and passing out rolls to commuters in what they called a symbolic invitation to break bread with world leaders expected here this weekend for the NATO summit.

            I am just tired, completely tired of people allowing themselves to be manipulated at the expense of US. Its maddening! Every last pastor they spoke to has a congregation full of people that have benefitted in some way by very specific actions of this President. The only thing standing between us and dire poverty was President Obama. Imagine no stimulus plan at all….nothing. That’s what the rethugs wanted…NOTHING. Nothing at all – double the people that got laid off. Imagine no moratorium on foreclosures. imagine no rescue of the auto industry – at all.

            But somebody stick a microphone in your face over ssm, and now you believe after all that, this issue makes it harder for black people to vote for Obama. Really? Because being too hungry to get up would probably make it more difficult for me personally. Living on the streets probably would have deterred me. SSM, not so much.

            Every last one of those pastors have parents in their church that rely on funding for pre-k programs that the rethugs have been eliminating bit by bit. Every one of those pastors have elderly members or children of the elderly that utilize Meals on Wheels that the rethugs busy trying to cut.

            But here come CBS to ask you about SSM and you can’t wait to open your damn mouth.

            That kind of mess just makes me ill.

    So, when POTUS and his team bring up the Bain attacks we’ve got POLITICO going for the “Obama’s Wall Street Problem” and Joe Klein at Time magazine saying since Romney wants to repeal Dodd/Frank he should come out for breaking up all the big banks (a position to the LEFT of POTUS and that goes against all he’s said about less regulation being necessary).

    How you know POTUS is winning: the MSM goes into overdrive trying to save the Romney campaign with helpful suggestions and starts attacking POTUS for making the attack.

I mean completely torture him. As soon as the right question comes up – I hope PBO yells “hit the lights”…and he puts on a show over this. He needs backup singers and all to put on a complete show that simply tortures Romney.

          Very True !

          It took a long time to break up conglomerates like AT&T and Standard Oil. And even if you broke up the big banks it still wouldn’t mitigate the risk taking and potential threats to the economy. You need to have common sense regulations in order to significantly reduce contagion to the economy.

          Even if you broke up the banks and you got rid of Dodd Frank and other regulations from years prior you would have still seen problems because the excessive risk taking and irresponsibility would have went unchecked and unsupervised.

          The media is trying to do anything they can to keep Obama from blowing out Willard because they know that he is no match for Obama.

    —- – –On the front page of CNN today, there was an interesting article about the divide between the Obama Administration and the African American church.

    The author of the piece seems to be implying that black church opposition to gay marriage is hypocritical, in large part because the bible being quoted by Christians is the same one that promoted the institution of slavery.

    - -I was immediately irked by the insinuation that somehow, anyone who opposes gay marriage is driven by the same ignorance that led some enslavement of other human beings. CNN is a network that has shown itself to be in support of gay rights (Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon are members of the gay community, and the network supported Lemon’s book about the agony of being black and gay). The position is admirable, since we can appreciate the concept of providing equal rights to everyone.

    I don’t oppose gay marriage myself, but I was annoyed by the CNN article. – - –What bothered me most about CNN’s depiction of the black church is that it is one that wreaks of the kind of liberal paternalism that treats African Americans as if we are savages who need to be educated by white folks. The comparison of gay marriage opposition to slavery is a deliberate effort to poke at the political pressure point of African Americans, reducing our most painful collective experience into a political football. It’s no different from telling a woman that she should protest the labor practices of Wal-Mart because she was once raped by a Wal-Mart employee.

    - — –- – -THIS- – –>While the black church has been under the spotlight for its opposition to gay marriage, I can’t help but notice that this same nasty criticism has not been unleashed onto white Christians. From what I understand, most Christians adhere to the same principles and read from the same bible, and I remain confused as to why African Americans are being singled out in such a way. There seems to be a misguided perception that black voters owe something to the Democrats. While we are welcome to join the Democratic agenda, the black agenda is usually considered to be unworthy of consideration.

    President Obama delivered the commencement address at Barnard College, a private women’s liberal arts college in New York City.

    President Obama chose to speak at Barnard College to address “America’s next generation of women leaders,” according to a White House statement.

    The President spoke about the role of women in society and gave the graduates three points of advice: get involved, never underestimate power of example and lastly to persevere.

    The president is also scheduled to speak at Joplin High School’s graduation ceremony in Missouri later this month. Joplin was the sight where a deadly 2011 tornado hit the ground and claimed the lives of over 160 people last year.

    (CNN) – A well-known, openly gay supporter of Mitt Romney in New York has decided to withdraw his support for Romney and back President Barack Obama instead.

    The clincher: Romney’s stance on same-sex marriage.

    “I feel that I no longer wish to support your presidential campaign and ask that you please return the maximum contribution that I gave to you last year,” Bill White wrote in a letter addressed to the former Massachusetts governor and obtained by CNN.

    FBI seeks to charge George Zimmerman with hate crime

    SANFORD, Fla. —

    WFTV has learned charges against George Zimmerman could be getting more serious.

    State prosecutors said Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, profiled and stalked 17-year-old Trayvon Martin before killing him, so the FBI is now looking into charging him with a hate crime.

    Zimmerman admitted to killing Martin in February during a confrontation. However, he claims the shooting was in self-defense. He’s facing a second-degree murder charge, which carries a maximum possible sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. But if Zimmerman is charged and found guilty of a federal hate crime involving murder, he could face the death penalty.

    FBI investigators are actively questioning witnesses in the retreat at the Twin Lakes neighborhood, seeking evidence for a possible federal hate crime charge.

    Alright guys, I told ya’ll the details of the position that I was offerred at my PRN job. So now I told my supevisor that I would take this week to think about it and I’d let her know if not by the end of this week, then by next week when I will be back to work at my PRN job and I’ll just so happen to be working with the Supe that weekend.

    So I’ve been havent’ a lil palpitations because I really think I need to take this job, but I’m being overcome by emotions because I’ll be leaving some people who I really to like, but this will be a fantastic opportunity (at the very least, I can work for the year, save as much money as I can, and then give myself some breathing room in terms of moving to another state if not going back home to NOLA).

    Bascially, I head is made up, but my heart has been erratic. I hate the thought of having to go into the office of my Lab Manager and my Supervisors to turn in the resignation letter. How do you even start the conversation? Should I make an appointment? Do I just go in and just drop the bomb how do I even broach the subject.

    I know, I know I”m overthinking it, but ugh!!!

    A coalition of African American ministers and civil rights leaders are standing behind President Barack Obama’s decision to back same-sex marriage, seeking to dispel the notion that the black community is sharply divided on the issue.

    President Obama recently picked Jay-Z over Kanye, and now his top rapper has returned the favor.

    Asked who should win the 2012 presidential election — former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or Obama — Jay-Z told CNN on Monday, “I mean, that’s an easy question. President Obama by leaps and bounds.” While not too familiar with Romney, Jay-Z said the things he’s heard “don’t sound good.”

    Applauding the president for endorsing same-sex marriage last week, the rapper said, “I think it’s the right thing to do … whether it costs him votes or not.”

    NASCAR has long been accused of racial discrimination, with multiple lawsuits filed by ethnic minorities accusing the organization of bias.With that, many people wonder why Norfleet wants to compete on the circuit. “It is sheer passion and instinct that drives this youngster to want to compete in this sport, she was born to compete,”says Isaac Hayes, spokesperson/CEO of the online fund raising organization, Tiapower.com.

    Norfleet comes from a family with a long racing history.     – —-Last March, police received a report that a taco truck in Pasadena, California had just been robbed. According to a recently released autopsy report, the two officers who arrived to investigate this report ran down and eventually shot a young black suspect seven times:

    Nineteen-year-old Kendrec McDade was shot at point-blank range by one Pasadena police officer and handcuffed after being struck by a total of seven bullets, according to the autopsy report released Friday by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. . . . Three of the wounds — two in his abdomen and one in his right arm — are considered potentially fatal because they lacerated arteries, according to Pasadena police. One bullet entered through the back of the right arm and another the back of the right forearm.

    McDade, of Azusa, was killed when Pasadena officers Jeff Newlen and Mathew Griffin responded to a report of an armed robbery at a taco truck in northwest Pasadena. One of the officers pursued him on foot and the other from his police cruiser.
