Saturday Open Thread- Famous African-American Painters

This week’s open threads have focused on African-American painters. There were so many to cover, so I only chose names out of a hat. Today’s thread will highlight the works of Terry Dixon.

Terry Dixon (b. Washington, D.C, 1969) is an African American visual artist. He was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Atlanta College of Art in 1992 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicagoin 1995. His various art techniques include painting, photography, computer art, video, and electronic music. Dixon’s imagery is fueled by his love for jazz and electronic music. It explores kinetic connections with his abstract style and reflects a heavy influence of African Art and Abstract Expressionism.

Dixon began exhibiting in 1991 while living in Atlanta, Georgia and landed on the art scene in Chicago at BAREWALLS 2000, a live art exhibition coordinated by the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. His works have been acquired by many private and public collections, such as the Sandor Collection in Chicago, The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, and theDavid C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland at College Park.

The organization, which is known for motorcycle rallies on Memorial Day weekend, says on its web site that its members “are united in the cause to bring full accountability for Prisoners Of War (POW) and Missing In Action (MIA) of all wars, reminding the government, the media and the public by our watchwords: ‘We Will Not Forget.'”

    – – -Obama gets boost as gas prices drop – —

    – —U.S. drivers and President Obama are both benefitting from falling gas prices this Memorial Day weekend.

The nationwide average price for regular gasoline has dropped 18 cents in the last month to $3.65-per-gallon according to AAA, just in time for one of the busiest weekends on the nation’s roads.

While the prices are still high, the decline has sapped some of the octane from GOP attacks on Obama’s energy policies.

    – -“I think whenever you see gas prices decline, you will see these campaigns and parties switch to a different message, because that energy message doesn’t have the same bite it would have if energy costs were high,” said GOP strategist Tyler Harber, a partner with Harcom Strategies.

“I think you will see gas prices and energy start to disappear from the daily message attacks from Romney and the Republicans until the gas prices begin to spike again,” Harber said.

“Gas prices won’t be as much of a weight on his shoulders as they would have been,” agreed Democratic strategist Chris Durlak. “I think it is one less thing that is going to dominate their narrative, it is one less thing that they have to worry about.”

Obama keeps a low public profile in Wisconsin recall fight
By Craig Gilbert of the Journal Sentinel
    May 23, 2012

As for President’s Obama’s role, “there isn’t any expectation” of a Wisconsin visit before June 5, said state Democratic chair Mike Tate. “I don’t think it’s necessary for us to win … People are pretty fired up and ready to go as it is.”

He said the Obama campaign’s help on the ground was more significant.

“The Obama for America Wisconsin team makes up close to half of our organizing force right now, in terms of bodies,” Tate said.

Another Democrat with ties to the Obama campaign expressed the view that “this is a race for Wisconsin voters to decide” and that the President could be more helpful organizationally than by personally injecting himself into the race.

“I assume this is a difficult calculation for Obama as to whether his intervention would be helpful or not and how it affects his positioning (for November),” said Robert Kraig of the liberal group, Citizen Action of Wisconsin.

“So far, since the uprising began last year, their position has been to remain detached for whatever reason. I don’t know of any compelling reason why that would change,” said Kraig.

“You do not hear rank and file activists saying, at least I haven’t heard it, ‘Where’s Obama?’” Kraig said.

We get calls from OFA, DNC and the unions almost everyday making sure that we’re gonna vote. Although there’s no need because everyone in this house votes no matter what. Also they’re doing door to door registering folks and having cookouts to get people registered. Ed Shultz needs to sit his ass down somewhere people are handling there business. My one complaint is this they’re asking people who are struggling to donate 160.00 to Barrett, not everyone can do this.

    • goldenstar

I read this article and it lacks some research. I’m in northern Cook County and Milwaukee is about 60 minutes away. OFA has a multitude of weekly phone banks in northern IL and volunteers drive to WI on a WEEKLY BASIS to canvass Milwaukee’s black neighborhoods. This has been the schedule for the past 6 weeks. Even Election Day is on the schedule.

So WTH are the complaints of these folks? WTH can Bill Clinton do that a regular person from the next state not do? People are impressed with volunteers. WI is on the radar screen of many and what these folks need to do is to focus on the efforts of many, many volunteers trying to help the President and our neighbors to the north.

      • Alma98

    – – -Former GOP Congresswoman Blasts New GOP Women’s Caucus: ‘They’re Not Voting In Best Interest Of All Women – – –

    – – – -Former Rep. Claudine Schneider (R) was the first — and only — woman to represent Rhode Island in Congress. Over five terms in the House (from 1981 to 1991), she helped pass key environmental, health, and gender-equity laws, including the Economic Equity and the Pension Equity Acts. Like former Sen. John Danforth (R-MO) and former Rep. Connie Morella (R-MD), Schneider told ThinkProgress there is no longer a place for centrists like herself in the modern Republican Party:

THINKPROGRESS: Why do you think today’s Republican Congresswomen are so much less progressive on issues relating to women’s health and safety?

SCHNEIDER: Because they are afraid of losing in the primaries. The have drunk the Kool-Aid that makes them think it is more important to win, than to do what is right by ending discrimination. The conservatives have co-opted the primaries and in order to win, they appear to do whatever it will take. Clearly, based on [the voting records of the 24 current Republican Congresswomen], they are NOT voting in the best interest of all women and men, because when women lose (on fair pay, etc.) families lose!

THINKPROGRESS: Would you have felt at home in the Women’s Policy Committee with these 24?

SCHNEIDER: Not at all! Congress is elected to represent all of the people in one’s district, to begin, one’s state, country and the world. As a Congresswoman, my job was not to represent my Party or my contributors. My job was to vote for the “good of the whole.”

This is a breakthrough for me. In the past I had an atavistic, knee jerk reaction to all things military, result of an ungodly mix of 60’s activism and Bushco “owning” military issues and patriotism

Obama changed all that for me. We travel a lot and run into servicepeople at all the airports. Two differences: they appear happy and optimistic under their current CIC, and I now salute them.

Thank you POTUS, for helping to bring me to a place I should be.

It is showing today at MLK Library in DC and there is a campaign to get it released on video through TCM. You can vote for that here: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/82522/The-Man/

Ive never heard of that movie
I would really love to see it

      • Scopedog

I haven’t seen it in years, but I remember the film being very good. It was a made-for-TV film, based on the novel by Irving Wallace…a writer who was pretty much ahead of his time in writing about certain topics that no one else at the time wanted to touch.

It remains one of my favorite James Earl Jones films.

        • conlakappa

It started out that way but wound up being a featured film.

    • Aquagranny911

I remember that movie! It’s been years since I saw it. I would love to see it again & I will vote for video release. Lol, on the “fighting aliens was not involved” because so many of those movies do seem to have a black guy as Prez, don’t they? Well, except for “Independence Day” one of my personal favorites. I saw it in the movie theater & was a bit shocked that people cheered when the aliens blew up the White House.

      • conlakappa

I last saw it in college. It was just me and a white guy who wore his dark-lensed aviators the whole time. He looked like he was straight from Central Casting for Klansman/Corrupt Southern Cop yet was a grad student in one of the sciences. It was unsettling on one hand but that was a movie I hadn’t previously seen since childhood.

Didn’t actuallly see it today but Uptight, which I had never seen and was the first feature.

    – — Former Republican Congresswoman Blasts Modern GOP, Laments Party’s Approach To Women’s Issues – —

    – – —Over her eight terms as a Congresswoman from Maryland’s Eight District, Connie Morella earned a reputation one of the strongest voices for women’s rights and reproductive choice in the Republican Party. A bipartisan-minded moderate, she worked with members of both parties to shepherd the 2000 re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act through the House with a 415 to 3 majority. Like former Sen. John Danforth (R-MO), she hardly recognizes her party today.

In an interview with ThinkProgress, Morella expressed disappointment with the anti-women voting record of the 24-member Republican Women’s Policy Committee and the lack of bipartisan House support for the Senate version of the Violence Against Women Act.

    Among her observations:

On the GOP’s move to the right:
I think the [Republican] Party has moved more towards the right and it has become more solidified in terms of not offering opportunities for other voices to be heard. Look at [Indiana Republican Senate Nominee Richard] Mourdock’s statement when he proclaimed victory: I’m not going to give into them, they’re going to come over to me. The word compromise is not even in the lexicon, let alone an understanding of what it means.

    – – SKIP — – –

On the GOP-only Women’s Policy Committee:
I’ve always said that when you look at Congress, you had more bipartisanship with Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues. The number of issues has gotten smaller… I was the prime sponsor in 2000 of the Violence Against Women Act, when it was reauthorized… On the floor, there was hardly a vote against it. And now, I don’t know why these women have been cornered, so to speak.

    – — SKIP —
Morella says she’s disappointed with where the Republican Party has gone. “If I were there, I’d be one of the minorities voting against the party. There’s no big tent, not even a small tent. It collapsed.”

    – – -Obama Soars, Romney Flops in Spanish Ads – –

—– -Mitt Romney is going to have trouble securing the hispanic vote if he continues to produce spanish language ads that pale in comparison to Obama’s slick personalized videos.

Both the Obama and Romney campaigns released spanish language ads this morning as part of an increased effort to secure the hispanic vote in the 2012 elections.

Romney’s ad focuses heavily on the economy touting that on “day one” Romney would give permission for the keystone pipeline and other job-creating initiatives which would boost the economy and allow for employment growth. But the ad is way too bland and doesn’t establish any personal connection with the viewer. It features Romney in the spotlight, and Romney greeting construction workers, and Romney smiling to glowing fans.

    – -Obama’s ad, on the other hand, tugs at the heart strings as it describes the story of a young mother who has two disabled children who will now be able to receive health care because of Obamacare. It never shows images of Obama, there are no raving fans, just normal smiling people who support Obama’s reforms. It is deeply personal and highly effective. Romney’s ad is just another personal campaign photo op, while Obama’s touching message implies he cares more about the people than himself.

Obama’s ad finishes with a young hispanic woman saying in Spanish, “for our President, healthcare reform is a reflection that we are a united family.”

Romney can’t afford to waste any more time with the spanish-speaking part of the population, he is going to need to step it up and start producing ads that can compete with Obama’s solid hispanic campaign, or he will lose a key percentage of the hispanic vote.

    – -LOL – —>Enough about yourself Romney, start trying to connect with the individual and the things they care about.

Graves, the wife of Black Enterprise founder and publisher Earl G. Graves Sr., was involved in the magazine from its start in 1970. She held a number of positions with the company including chief financial officer and circulation director.

In 2010, in a magazine column commemorating the publication’s 40th anniversary, Earl Graves wrote that in the early days his wife “did just about everything there is to do” to put out a magazine. She wrote and edited, designed layouts, served as the sales director and office manager and “was vice president in charge of shutting down the publisher’s bad ideas,” Graves said.

    — – – –Police in the town of Reidsville, North Carolina are investigating flyers that were sent by the Ku Klux Klan to residents in the town about a cross-burning planned to happen this weekend. The KKK protested in the nearby town of Eden last week and several residents are disturbed by the recent activity of the group. Annie P. Pinnix and her husband were among the residents of Reidsville who received the flyer. “I’m a little bothered by it,” Pinnix said. The Winston-Salem Journal reports:

The Ku Klux Klan protested in Eden last week, and this week some of its members have been passing out fliers inviting people in Reidsville to a cross-burning.

The fliers were placed in and around Sherwood Drive, Linville Drive, Reids School Road and Poplar Street in the city.

Annie P. Pinnix and her husband were among the residents who received the flier.

“I’m a little bothered by it,” Pinnix said.

Pinnix said the flier was found in her and her neighbors’ driveways, rolled up like a newspaper and tied with a yellow rubber band. Reidsville Police Chief Edd Hunt confirmed other residents found the fliers in a similar fashion.

WTF is this mess about “gospel tourism”? Europeans on vacation in the US going to black churches to watch us like they’re on safari or something. I’d never heard of this but I am highly offended.

    • caribbeanobserver

They gots to get a look at the black folks in church,in action!!
Only in America. Probably have pyschics, seances and voodoo tourism next!

    • Aquagranny911

I will probably regret wading into this issue because it is serious & feels demeaning. But I say, take their money it spends like any other money. Our Native People figured this one out when they started charging people to attend their events & Pow Wows. Also, those tacos are not free at Latino posadas, parades & celebrations either.

As long as the visitors are respectful & put some $$ in the collection plate, maybe they will learn something valuable from the churches.

      • conlakappa

Thus is news now? Europeans and Japanese tourists have been going to Abyssinian Baptist for about 25 years. Also, how is it different from when anyone goes to the churches in Europe or temples in Japan?

    • JojoRaze

I was going to work one Sunday morning and had to pass through Harlem and I kid you not, the European tourists to the morning services are so much, they have to have a dang rope line, like at a club, outside the church to keep people in order.

Why Pick on Chief Justice Roberts?

    by BooMan
Sat May 26th, 2012 at 04:13:30 PM EST

It seems to me that several conservative columnists, including George Will, are essentially taunting Chief Justice John Roberts. They keep saying that Roberts will never be so weak as to uphold ObamaCare. They don’t say these things about Justice Kennedy, which is strange because the conservatives need both Roberts and Kennedy to vote against ObamaCare if it is going to be ruled unconstitutional. I kind of feel like they are worried that they’ll lose this decision in a 6-3 vote, or worse. Before I herd the oral arguments, I figured the decision would be 8-1 to uphold the individual mandate. Clarence Thomas would have been the lone holdout. The law and precedents are pretty clear.

But it could be that the conservatives on the Court have just been gathering strength, waiting until they had enough power and the right case to totally transform the federal government’s relationship to the states. This could be their moment. Or, maybe not. Maybe Kennedy is not on board. Maybe Roberts is less radical than he seems.

I feel like the two most likely results are a 6-3 decision to uphold, with Thomas, Scalia, and Alito dissenting, or a 5-4 decision to strike down the mandate, with all the liberals dissenting. I don’t see a scenario where Kennedy votes to strike the mandate but Roberts saves it.

That’s why I think George Will’s premise is stupid. But maybe he doesn’t want the embarrassment of losing this case by another more than a 5-4 split.

Senate Committee Votes to Support All Our Troops With Shaheen Amendment

    By Adele Stan
Facebook Twitter Digg Reddit StumbleUpon Delicious

If you’re a member of the U.S. military and you happen to be a woman, you might think you were entitled to the full range of health care allowed your civilian counterparts. But you would be wrong. That’s why Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., crafted an amendment to the National Defense Appropriation Act that would grant, according to the Ms. magazine Web site:

the same rights as civilian women under federal policies that provide affordable abortion care to women who are the victims of rape or incest. Under the current policy, servicewomen are only eligible for abortion care if the woman’s life is at risk.

On Thursday, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, the Senate Armed Services Committee approved the amendment by a 16-10 vote. The measure must next move to the Senate floor, and faces an uncertain future if, as expected, the appropriations bill goes to a joint conference. (The House bill is not expected to include a similar provision.)

Currently, abortions are forbidden to military personnel unless they are victims of sexual assault or the pregnancy endangers their lives. But if the pregnancy is the result of a rape the soldier, sailor or Marine must pay for her own abortion — a cost that can be prohibitive on a military paycheck. And in a war zone, a woman in uniform will likely find no civilian medical professionals available to her who will perform the procedure.

This is all the more galling when one considers the epidemic of sexual assault against military women that continues to grip the armed forces — assaults perpetrated by men who are supposed to be their comrades.

In 2009, reporting for CBS News, Katie Couric delivered this statistic:

One in three female soldiers will experience sexual assault while serving in the military, compared to one in six women in the civilian world.

And the numbers haven’t changed much. Because of the stigma attached to reporting one’s rape by a fellow soldier, it’s not unheard of for a woman made pregnant through rape to try to self abort. (For one account, see Kathryn Joyce’s outstanding 2009 article, “Military Abortion Ban: Female Soldiers Not Protected by Constitution They Defend,” at Religion Dispatches.)

If Congress really wants to show its appreciation to all of our troops, it will pass the appropriations bill with the Shaheen amendment in tact. But with this Congress, whose freshmen claim to love, love them some Constitution, military women will likely learn the limits of the right-wing version of the U.S. Constitution. (Now, what do you need all those rights, for, little lady?)

Gov. Scott Orders Purging of Florida’s Voter Rolls – Just in Time For Prez Election

    By Adele Stan

You remember, Florida, right? Land of the hanging chad? A state in which a margin of several hundred votes could determine the outcome of a presidential election — that is, of course, if the U.S. Supreme Court allows the votes to be counted.

ThinkProgress’ Judd Legum today has a disturbing report from the Sunshine State:

According to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections, eligible voters will be removed from the voting rolls as a result of the massive voter purge ordered by Governor Rick Scott. “It will happen,” Mary Cooney, a spokeswoman for the Broward County Supervisor of Elections, told ThinkProgress.

    […]

That process produced a massive list of 182,000 names, which [then Secretary of State Kurt] Browning considered unreliable. The Fair Elections Legal Network, which is challenging the purge, noted that database matching is “notoriously unreliable” and “data entry errors, similar-sounding names, and changing information can all produce false matches.” Further, some voters may have naturalized since their driver’s license information was collected

Legum’s report features a letter sent to one registered voter, Maureen Russo, by the Broward County elections supervisor, alleging that she is not a U.S. citizen. The burden of proof, Legum writes, is on the letter’s recipient. From ThinkProgress:

In Broward County 259 people recieved letters just like the one addressed to Maureen above, according to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections. So far only 7 (including Maureen) have responded to the ominous and legalistic letter. Five of the responses included proof of citizenship.

If the other 252 people don’t respond within 30 of recieving the letter — a deadline that is rapidly approaching — they will be summarily removed from the voting roles.

In state after state, right-wing Republicans are seeking to pare the voter rolls by any means necessary. In high-turnout elections, Republicans tend to fare less well, especially when turnout includes sizable percentages of racial and ethnic minority groups.

Just last month, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down those portions of Arizona’s draconian voter law that would have required proof of citizenship to be produced during the voter registration process, which would have all but ended the sort of voter registration drives undertaken at the grassroots level (often in shopping mall parking lots, urban streets, sporting events and the like). I mean, who walks around with her birth certificate in her pocketbook? (Regrettably, the court upheld the portion of the law that requires voters to produce a state-issued photo ID at the polls.)

So when you hear activists fuming about right-wing efforts, such as those by the American Legislative Exchange Council, to suppress voter turnout, know that they’re not exaggerating. And, if current polls hold up, the 2012 presidential race promises to be a close one. You can call that fact the Hokey Pokey, because that’s what it’s all about.

The Wisconsin Recall and the Presidential Race

    By Adele Stan
Facebook Twitter Digg Reddit StumbleUpon Delicious

You may have thought it would never end, but a week from next Tuesday, the recall campaign against the Koch-bought Wisconsin governor, Scott Walker, will end when Wisconsinites head to the polls for a vote that could end Walker’s tenure before his term is up. The revolt against Walker began with the the February uprising against a so-called “budget repair” bill that the governor pushed through the state legislature using strong-arm tactics, a law that largely revoked the collective bargaining rights of public employees.

For months, Democratic leaders at the national level have hemmed and hawed about the wisdom of getting involved, in a presidential election year, in a recall effort that could fail. The state is quite evenly divided between the Tea Party-style Republicans who now control the legislature, and the Democrats who oppose them, and it’s in play in the contest between President Barack Obama and his GOP opponent, Mitt Romney.

Craig Gilbert of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this week noted the president’s absence in the recall fight, and, only last week, Wisconsin Democrats were begging the Democratic National Committee for help, to no avail. But now, writes Amanda Terkel at the Huffington Post, the Democrats’ internal polling is showing that Walker’s Democratic challenger, former Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, could actually win this thing:

The Wisconsin gubernatorial recall race is now a dead heat as voters have learned more about the corruption probe surrounding Gov. Scott Walker (R), according to a new internal poll for the campaign of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D).

In a survey of 935 likely recall voters, conducted by the Garin Hart Yang Research Group from May 22 to 24, Walker led Barrett by 49.89 to 48.62 percent. With the poll’s margin of error at plus or minus 3.3 percent, that means the race is essentially tied.

Perhaps those numbers have something to do with why, at long last, this week the DNC sent out a nationally distributed fundraising letter on Walker’s Barrett’s behalf.

Although last night’s gubernatorial debate between Walker and Barrett featured some sharp exchanges, it’s worth noting, as the Washington Post’s Dan Balz did, that Walker did concede that the tactics he used in ramming through his anti-labor law may not have been, well, the smartest:

Though Walker offered no apologies for the reforms he pushed through, which led to huge protests on the state Capitol grounds and a walkout among Democratic legislators, the governor acknowledged anew that he regretted the way he had gone about making the changes.

“Looking back, without a doubt I’d change how we did things,” he said. He added that Wisconsin voters “like the results but they just wish we’d done it differently.”

And, in case you missed it, Walker isn’t the only Wisconsin Republican facing a recall vote on June 5; Lieutenant Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch is also facing recall, but her chances of prevailing against challenger Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, look better than Walker’s prospects, meaning that Wisconsin could wind up with a governor and lieutenant governor of differing parties, which is not customary in the Dairy State.

But, more importantly, Democrats have a chance to win back control of the state Senate, which, if Walker should survive the election, would serve as a substantial check on his power.

Records show Rev. Marvin Winans had suspended license when he was carjacked

According to driving records obtained by Local 4, the Rev. Marvin Winans was driving with a suspended license when he was carjacked and robbed in Detroit last week.

The popular pastor and gospel singer Winans, 54, was attacked May 16 while pumping gas in the area of Linwood and Davison. The robbers took his 2012 Infiniti QX56 SUV, Rolex watch, cash and credit cards.

Winans suffered only bruises and scrapes.

According to records from the Michigan Secretary of State, Winans’ license was suspended on May 9 for two unpaid tickets out of Hazel Park – one for impeding traffic and the other for driving on a previous suspended license.

His driving record shows a slew of tickets since September of 2005.

    – -Women Will Soon Be Able To Afford The Most Effective Method Of Birth Control As A Result Of Obamacare – – –

    – – – –The vast majority of women in the U.S. are not using the most effective method of birth control available, according to a new study from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

The study finds that the pill is significantly less effective at preventing pregnancy than long-lasting contraceptive methods such as the intrauterine device (IUD), building on earlier research that has drawn the same conclusion. In fact, women using IUDs or implants were a staggering 20 times less likely to get pregnant than women who used shorter contraceptive methods like the pill.

Yet few women in the U.S. currently use this type of contraception because IUDs are often very expensive — with co-pays costing hundreds of dollars — and rarely covered by insurance plans. As the study’s lead author, Dr. Brooke Winner, told Reuters:

    – – –SKIP – —

    — – -Fortunately, President Obama’s new birth control regulation that expands access to birth control may help both doctors and women address this issue. Because the new policy would eliminate co-pays for contraceptives, IUDs would become a viable option for the women who currently can’t afford them — and, as the Guttmacher Institute has documented, removing cost barriers to contraceptive services greatly increases the number of women who choose to use the most effective methods.

    – – – -Scott Walker’s “campaign was one of the dirtiest in school history.” – – –

    — – – -Walking down Memory Lane with teen bully Willard M. Romney was quite the eye-opener. Now we have a first hand account of what it was like to be a college classmate of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s.

“Scathing” doesn’t begin to describe this personal essay about Walker by Dr. Glen Barry. He describes his time at Marquette University with Scotty and his sadly familiar ways. Here are but a few excerpts from a must-read post at Wisconsin Citzens Media Co-op:

The year was 1988 – current Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is running for Marquette University student body President. [...] I had the misfortune of being a college classmate of Scott Walker. [...]

To put it politely, Walker was not the sharpest tool in the shed, actually amongst the least sharp. With a C average (if that) and never graduating, I am not surprised to see him making up his own math on jobs when the real numbers don’t suit him. This reflects the utter disdain with which he holds truth, knowledge, education, and anything else that clashes with his absolutist worldview of religious and corporate based rule. As a classmate, he displayed a shocking lack of curiosity, original thought, or interest in topics other than his political ascendency.

Walker’s debut in Marquette student politics as a freshman began by stirring up the campus with a McCarthyite investigation into misspending by the Homecoming committee… Walker lost on all counts, but not before destroying a few people’s reputations, and amassing personal power. Sound familiar? Thus began an over 25 year record of bullying to get what he wants, of being insincere and narcissistic, and political grandstanding at the expense of others¸ all for personal self-aggrandizement, and without an ounce of either personal or political virtue.
