  • Wisconsin Senate Candidate’s Son Says We “Have The Opportunity” To Send Obama Back To Kenya

Jason Thompson, the son of former Governor and Wisconson Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, speaking this morning at a brunch attended by Tommy Thompson and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said that “we have the opportunity to send President Obama back to Chicago — or Kenya.” A woman in attendance then chimed in “we are taking donations for that Kenya trip.” A spokesman for Thompson did not immediately return a request for comment.

  • Mark Sanford: Obama will ‘throw a lot of spears’ at next debate
    By David Edwards
    Sunday, October 14, 2012 15:18 EDT

The disgraced former Republican governor of South Carolina on Sunday used a racially-coded term in his prediction that the nation’s first African-American president would go on attack and “throw a lot of spears” at Tuesday’s town hall debate.

Former Gov. Mark Sanford — now a Fox News contributor — told Fox News host Shannon Bream that President Barack Obama would have to be much more aggressive during the next debate because Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was seen as dominating the first encounter.

“Obama’s going to come out in this case much more forcefully, and he’s going to throw a lot of spears,” Sanford opined. “And I think it’s very, very important that in this case that, you know, Romney stay focused on his vision for the country and stay focused on the things that, I think, matter most to people in this country, which is, where is the economy going, where are we with jobs, and what’s happening next on the debt and the deficit issue?”

It’s just like Morphus said the other day, Mitt’s tentacles are everywhere. With all of these business ties and corporations that he’s invested in, how is it not a conflict of interest for him to be running for president? And if it isn’t, it should be.

How Mitt Romney and Bain Helped Grow Monsanto Into a Biotech Giant

Though Mitt Romney has been campaigning for president since 2006, it’s alarming how little is known about critical chapters of his business biography. Nothing spells that out more clearly than his ties to Monsanto[….] whose dark history features scandals involving PCBs, Agent Orange, bovine growth hormone, NutraSweet, IUD, genetically modified (GM) seed and herbicides, reaching back to the 1970s and ’80s. That’s when Monsanto was the largest consulting client of Romney’s employer, Bain & Company, and when Romney helped move Monsanto from chemical colossus to genetic giant, trading one set of environmental controversies for another.[….] John W. Hanley, the Monsanto CEO at the time, has said how “impressed” he was with the 30-year-old Mitt.

Hanley became so close to Romney that he and Romney’s boss Bill Bain devised the idea of creating Bain Capital as a way of keeping Romney in the fold.[….] Hanley even contributed $1 million to Romney’s first investment pool at Bain Capital. Monsanto’s Hanley is in fact the only business executive outside of the Bain founding family to so shape Romney’s career—jumpstarting the two companies, Bain & Company and Bain Capital, that account for all but two years of Romney’s much-ballyhooed business experience. Bain and Romney whispered in Monsanto’s ear until 1985, when Hanley’s successor Richard Mahoney says he “fired” them and when Romney moved on to Bain Capital.[….]

    – —Last week, billionaire CEO David Siegel, who runs a timeshare empire, threatened to fire employees if President Obama is reelected in November, saying in an email, “the economy doesn’t currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration.”

And Siegel is not alone in pushing his employees to cast their vote a certain way. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes reported today on another CEO — Arthur Allen of ASG Software Solutions — who said in an email to his employees that they’d only have themselves to blame if they lose their jobs if Obama wins. The email reads, in part:

Many of you have been with ASG for over 5, 10, 15, and even 20 years. As you know, together, we have been able to keep ASG an independent company while still growing our revenues and customers. But I can tell you, if the US re-elects President Obama, our chances of staying independent are slim to none – — -SNIP – — If we fail as a nation to make the right choice on November 6th, and we lose our independence as a company, I don’t want to hear any complaints regarding the fallout that will most likely come. I have to share this. Yesterday I was partnered with a sweet Anglo chica, 20 year old nursing student. I thought I probably scandalized her with my frank talk. The look on her face when I used my term ‘goatfigger’ was priceless.

I was surprised to discover she actually requested to partner me again today. We were given an upscale neighbor hood definitely outside my comfort zone. Before we began she gripped my arm and asked: “Do you think they will all be goatfiggers?” I answered: “Nah, we are only going to registered Dems & Independents besides I can handle goatfiggers any day of the week & twice on Sunday. – —Arlen Specter was the rare Senator: moderate, infuriating to both sides – –

    – – – –For most of his 30 years as Pennsylvania’s longest-serving U.S. senator and prominent moderate in Congress, Arlen Specter was a Republican, though often at odds with the GOP leadership.

He helped end the Supreme Court hopes of former federal appeals Judge Robert H. Bork, who was nominated by Ronald Reagan. Decades later, he was one of only three Republicans in Congress to vote for President Barack Obama’s stimulus.

His breaks with his party were hardly a surprise: He had begun his political career as a Democrat and ended it as one, too.

In between, he was at the heart of several major American political events. He rose to prominence in the 1960s as an assistant counsel to the Warren Commission, developing the single-bullet theory in President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. He came to the Senate in the Reagan landslide of 1980 and was a key voice in the confirmation hearings of both Bork and Clarence Thomas.

Inquirer Editorial: Obama will do a better job

Like a carnival barker cajoling a mark into spending the last bills in his wallet, the Republican Party is counting on Americans’ not remembering that they’ve seen this trick before.

GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney wants voters to forget their familiarity with the prize he’s dangling before their eyes – a return to the disastrous economic policies that preceded the recession. Given that context, Romney’s prize is no better than a fake pearl.

Stop playing the blame game, the Republicans say to anyone who dares remind voters of what led to one of the worst economic collapses in U.S. history. They have kept former President George W. Bush under wraps lest he refresh voters’ memories.

In fact, they say Obama has “done all that and more” (check… mate).

And one of the unkindest cuts of all is that Romney’s “foreign policy seems to come straight from George W. Bush… Some of Romney’s foreign-policy advisers are the former Bush neo-conservatives who got us into the unnecessary Iraq war.” Oof!

When the ceiling collapsed in the Big Dig tunnel here, Gov. Mitt Romney was at his vacation home in New Hampshire. When the Bush administration warned that the nation was at high risk of a terror attack in December 2003, he was at his Utah retreat. And for much of the time the legislature was negotiating changes to his landmark health care bill, he was on the road.

During Mr. Romney’s four-year term as governor of Massachusetts, he cumulatively spent more than a year—part or all of 417 days—out of the state, according to a review of his schedule and other records. More than 70 percent of that time was spent on personal or political trips unrelated to his job, a New York Times analysis found.

    – —- –Mitt Romney refuses to even meet with the folks from Bainport and yet he expects the public to believe that he didn’t mean what he said about the 47% of Americans being lazy and feeling entitled to healthcare and food.

Bainport is a community set up outside of the Bain owned Sensata factory in Freeport, Ill, that is “fighting to save our jobs from being shipped to China by the end of this year. We are calling on Mitt Romney to come to Freeport, IL and we will camp across the street from our plant for as long as it takes!”

Bainport is comprised of hard working people whose jobs have been harvested for profit by Mitt Romney’s company. Bain made the Freeport workers train their Chinese replacements, and is now shipping equipment to China to set up shop where labor is 85% cheaper than in the US.

The Overpass Light Brigade paid a visit to Bainport. Watch here:

    – –COMMENT: — Anne
His ignoring Bainport only cements his well-earned reputation for being a ruthless, sociopathic plutocrat who values profits much more than people. Therefore, due to his actions, he cannot live down the 47% comments which expose his contempt for a sizeable portion of Americans. Given the fact that we live in the Information Age, where information is disseminated in record time, those comments have gone global. The people who plan to vote for him that are among the “47%” have all the information about him that they need in order to make an informed voting decision and have only themselves to blame if he wins and they inevitably suffer. As someone in the distant past would have said, his remarks about a part of the American population and his throwing of thousands under the bus by firing them will “live in infamy.”

Fox News Turns on Romney and Criticizes His Impossible Tax Cut Math

    – – – – –Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace turned on the Romney campaign today, called out their bogus 6 studies statistic and criticized their tax cut math that doesn’t add up.

    Here is the video:
    – – –SNIP – –
    – —The reality is that Roger Ailes and Fox News see Romney’s lack of details as one of his major weaknesses. They know it could cost him the election. They are trying their best to help Romney out, but the Republican nominee’s campaign is either too paranoid or stupid to accept their assistance.

It is looking like the real reason why Mitt Romney won’t give the details about his tax plan is because there aren’t any. Romney might actually be telling the truth when he states that he is going to figure it out later with the Congress, but figuring it out later with the Congress is also political code for, “we’re not going to pay for this,” and that is a truth that the Romney campaign desperately does not want to admit.

The Fox News/Romney marriage should never be described as good. Much like most of the right, they are supporting Romney because he is the nominee. Chris Wallace’s questioning of Gillespie was more proof that Mitt Romney doesn’t trust Fox News, and Fox News doesn’t trust Mitt Romney.
