Thursday Afternoon Thread: A Little Gloating Never Hurt Anyone…Heh

This. Is. Hilarious.

Nothing is better than being there to gloat about victory at the moment your adversaries realize they are defeated. #winning

In Case You Missed It:

  • Alma98

I love that first video freaking hilarious!

    • conlakappa

Isn’t it awesome?! And note that they sent two men who are likely the widest ones in the room to “escort” the infiltrator out of the room?

      • Alma98

I saw that, they can act fools, carry guns at rallies and say the most vile stuff. But when it’s turned around on them they can’t take it.

Romney Planned Victory Fireworks Show Over Boston Harbor
David Taintor – 12:55 PM EST, Thursday November 8, 2012

Mitt Romney planned to celebrate election-night victory with a fireworks display over the Boston Harbor, the Boston Globe reports:

A permit filed with the City of Boston said the detonation could occur any time between 7 p.m. Tuesday, just after the first polls closed, and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, which ended up being just before Romney conceded the race.

    • Kadijo

HA HA HA, HEE HEE HEE + burst in DEEEEP throated laughter.

    • rikyrah

      hee hee hee

    • Alma98

Straight up living in a delusional white bubble. LOL

    • MsKitty

NO ONE could be so certain of victory, unless:

      a) it’s a major case of delusion, or

      b) there was some kind of rigging going on in their favor.

I really can’t make up my mind which it is. One minute I go with the delusion argument because let’s face it, all of Willard’s synapses don’t fire like they should. But then I think about Tagg and his voting machines, the frantic calls Team Romney made to Fox News after they called the election, and just the all the shady voting stuff in general.

      Tough call.

      • Miranda

I totally believe they thought it really would come down to Ohio and they were gonna rig it. Husted tried everything and I think they got scared. Between the turnout, the federal judge who was keeping an eye on him, the DOJ having hundreds of attorneys in OH just to watch out – if they had tried to change up the numbers I think an injunction on declaring any numbers was already drafted and the judge standing by with a nice ballpoint pen to sign it and every voting machine in the state would have been impounded and the best technology forensic experts at the FBI would have simply caught it. They were scared, they backed out and then got to scared to call Rove and tell him. Thus he was in a panic he could not control for the whole world to see.

If turnout hadn’t been astronomical, they would have done it.

        • LV

Exactly. They could see themselves looking thru bars.

        • Daltex82

          THIS!

I just have this feeling that something like you described was going to take place. There was too much confidence bordering on smugness (a smugness that suggest I know something you don’t know) among them when everything was showing the tide turning against Shmitt. I wonder if Husted was faced with possible jail time would he “squeal like a pig” on these folks.

Hearing this makes victory so sweet!

        • rikyrah

          I totally believe this.

Plus, what I told you in another thread, Miranda.

State Senator Turner told the world that Cayuhoga County DOES NOT DO touch screens for Early Voting.

          They got the paper.

So, with them having the paper ballots, and everyone being on the early vote tallies like white on rice…

          AND,

Black folk turning out in LARGER numbers…

the fix would never have withstood scrutiny.

and someone’s ass was going to jail.

          • Miranda

I can see them sitting in a room going “who’s gonna call Rove?”

        • Tafr

You remember how Husted, at the last minute, put software on the voting machines? I think he was undoing something that he previously done to those machines. As you said I think he got scared so he went in there to fix what he previously rigged.

          • Miranda

Ahhhhhh……yep..the judge was like “alright…you can keep your lil software on it”…because if anything strange goes down the whole world will already know you done something.

      • Tafr

MsKitty y’all can call me crazy but I am convinced they planned on stealing this election. We all know that the voter suppression was going on but I get the feeling something else was going on as well. When Karl Rove was talking about refreshing the page, having a fit on Fox News, that was the moment I became convinced.

        • Miranda

Yep, I watched the video of his meltdown again and I hadn’t noticed the part about “refreshing the page” until last night. It was fixed and the thieves in OH got scared but couldn’t tell Rove so he was on air thinking he could deliver OH to his massas and when he couldn’t, ole boy damn near cried.

          • jds09

I thought so too. He was waiting for something to go down. lol

      • Daltex82

I’m leaning more and more towards rigging.

      • jds09

I’ve been flipping back and forth myself. Delusion or rigging? I think its both, they compliment each other like peanut butter and chocolate. It explains how they could be born on 3rd base (via financial engineering/inheritance) and think they hit a triple (hard workers vs mouchers). I vote for both.

        • conlakappa

Mostly rigging but backed by their hubris. Miffed has never been checked in his life and Turd Blossom got away with stealing an election twice before so why not again?

      • Town

IMO, this is my conspiracy theory:

Romney, Rove & Company THOUGHT they had this election in the bag b/c of a) voter suppression b) election fraud i.e. rigged machines particularly in OHIO. (mysterious software patches on OH voting machines)

Either there were just so many people at the polls that rigging/suppression couldn’t steal the votes OR somebody took off the rigging patches undercover/switched out the rigged machines.

This is why Rove was stroking out when they called Ohio because the rigged results were supposed to come back ROMNEY.

This is why Mitt Romney only had 1 speech prepared, a victory speech.

This is why the Romney campaign had the transition website already live.

This is why Ann Romney had on her I’M THE FIRST LADY *NOW* dress on.

They knew the fix was in, and somehow Barack Obama/voting populace foiled them.

That’s why they are so mad.

        • JojoRaze

Either there were just so many people at the polls that rigging/suppression couldn’t steal the votes OR somebody took off the rigging patches undercover/switched out the rigged machines.

I’m going with both because Husted was being watched and two the rigging patches were removed by someone who was mad at Mittens for lying about Chrysler moving jobs when they weren’t.

        • nathkatun7

Town, I agree 100% with everything you said.

        • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

EXACTLY! Rove’s hissy fit about OH is the dead giveaway! I have NEVER seen that mofo act like that!

      • 7thangel

Mitt is the type to believe in his white privilege and his entitlement, even more than the republican party does. also, he more than likely believes in the White Horse Prophecy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Horse_Prophecy

epistemic closure. nothing will ever pop or penetrate the bubble they have created. they create their own facts and their own math to back it up.

    • Camille

The man sure has a nerve and lacks self awareness.

All this in a state he governed and still lost by an embarrassing margin.

  • Miranda

If you want a fun read…gotta read the comments on this. This nut totally bashed Nate Silver and every poll out there that showed PBO in the lead – he created a whole website called unskewedpolls.com and of course pushed how any poll showing more Dems than GOP was obviously “skewed” for nefarious reasons. So now he slinks back and writes how he was wrong – oh wait, here is what he said:

UnSkewedPolls.com is just one web site and one project I did, and depending on your point of view it was proven wrong,
    ___________________________

    yes, he wrote that. SMH

Mmmm. Good stuff. Let the gloating continue!

    • 7thangel

at least he acknowledges the fact that he was wrong.

we’re cursed with village pundits with ‘jobs-for-life’ that will never acknowledge or apologize for being wrong based on stuff they pull out of their ass.

Afternoon, POU. You know, now that we have our President still at the helm, I will not be listening too much to hosts and callers talking about what they want to see from PBO. They, as supporters, have their right to voice their concerns, but what I’d more like to hear is that they understand that PBO already KNOWS what the hell he needs to do, especially for AA’s. They need to take the course of Rev. Lowry when he stated that in the second term, AA concerns will be addressed. First term mention of such would have been a bit more damaging, IMO, for a successive term. I just wish people would use their brains instead of their single issues and egos. The man’s been there, done that, and he got his stripes defending and supporting folk that look like me and us all, and in no way has abandoned those issues. Besides, FLOTUS wouldn’t let him.. LOL !

Ooops…..this judge is HOT. Husted is going down.

Judge demands Ohio provisional ballot answers from Husted’s office

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A federal judge on Wednesday angrily demanded that attorneys for Ohio’s elections chief name the author of an election-eve order that placed the responsibility of explaining what kind of identification voters use on provisional ballots on the voters themselves.

U.S. District Court Judge Algenon Marbley’s voice rose nearly to a shout at times as he asked attorneys what research the Ohio Secretary of State’s office had done before issuing Friday’s after-hours order.

“You have a lot of explaining to do,” Marbley told assistant Ohio attorney general Aaron Epstein at a hearing in Columbus the morning after the election. A few minutes later, he demanded that Epstein and other state attorneys explain the rationale behind the order.

“Show me the facts that the secretary used to make the decision to change this directive at 7 o’clock on a Friday night on the eve of an election,” Marbley said. “I want to see it, and I want to see it now.”

Uh oh Jon Husted. In the words of Sweet Daddy Williams “Brother you in trouble”

    • Daltex82

      Roh roh!

I would so love it if sometime in the very near future we could be referring to him as prisoner #123456.

    • rikyrah

this is what I had read, Miranda.

this judge is so not playing with him

    • JojoRaze

Husted tried everything but Jesus to suppress the vote. And I’m kind of glad Mittens straight lied on the car companies because those executives will vote straight Democratic now. They’re like “Obama saved my and all my workers’ bacon. I’ma pay that new tax increase gladly cuz at least I’ll get some educated workers that can do percentages; I can’t stand liars!”

Because of all this, the judge is not giving Husted the benefit of the doubt.

    • Farrod

      And he’s…BLACKETY BLACK BLACK BLACK…LOLOLO!!!!!!

      Oh…hi guys.

  • rikyrah

To continue the conversation from last thread about the ‘ perceived’ threat to the voting rights.

You want to know something, their arrogance knows no bounds.

They thought that we hadn’t been Black longer than 3 days in America..

and, that we haven’t lived under the 43 White Presidents that preceeded Barack Obama.

and, that we couldn’t see the disrespect shown this President AND HIS ENTIRE FAMILY that hadn’t been done to any other President.

They thought just because we didn’t say anything about it, except for within the confines of talking to each other..

that we didn’t see what was going on.

But, they failed to note that we understand America far better than they ever will..

and, that we weren’t going to do something that wouldn’t benefit the President.

we would hold our tongues and make our voices heard on Election Day 2012.

    And, when I say WE….

I don’t mean just BLack people.

I said this awhile ago, and I mean it…

    I believe every NON-WHITE PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY – who isn’t a sellout…

has quietly observed the disrespect shown this President.

The numbers that shocked them on Tuesday?

    SEVENTY ONE PERCENT OF LATINOS.

    SEVENTY SIX PERCENT OF ASIANS.

They thought the Asians were ‘ down with White is right’.

Asians never said shyt, but went into that voting booth and pulled that lever for PBO.

they thought they could lable us with’ imagining’ the disrespect shown this President.

Just like we ‘imagine’ the slights shown to us in our daily lives.

    • MsKitty

“White Americans today don’t know what in the world to do because when they put us behind them, that’s where they made their mistake. . . . they put us behind them, and we watched every move they made.”

      • MonieTalks

Girl, you know I recite this like scripture!

      • Daltex82

        THIS!

    • Alma98

Tell it rikyrah! Remember I told y’all Russ Feingold lost because he disrespected PBO when he was running. Well Tammy Baldwin got almost six percent more votes in Milwaukee than he did. Now tell me again how we don’t pay attention to politics. I don’t expect them to learn from this because they think they know every damn thing. And all of our candidates kicked those fake black dems asses.

      • Kadijo

These people think we sleep through life.

      • conlakappa

And that 87% of Milwaukee voting? Wow, what is that, Europe? I thought black people weren’t enthused!

        • Alma98

          LOL!

          • conlakappa

The same clowns who injured their backs blaming the people from Milwaukee for St. Russ’s loss are probably deafening you with their silence now. The only community in my area that votes in comparable numbers is Leisure World, i.e. the senior compound.

          • Alma98

They turned out they just didn’t vote for Russ. I know quite a few people who said eff him and left his name blank. Mind you most of them were older black folks. A lot of people were also pissed off because he was so busy trying to get teabagger votes. Then had the nerve to show up here the night before the election.

          • rikyrah

            but but but…

Tammy’s gay and I thought Black people don’t like the gay.

          • Alma98

Girl we got so many gay folks of all stripes living in just about every neighborhood here. That’s why I was so pissed at bwd saying now that PBO was for ss marriage black folks would follow him.

    • Worldwatcher7

Anyone, and that includes media whores, who has observed the stark obvious racism and treasonous behavior of the GOP, yet sat quietly by, is a straight-up racist. And that includes everyone who has tried to minimize the voter suppression effort.

They are like the whites in Georgia and Alabama and Mississippi who saw their relatives oppressing freedom riders but kept quiet. They are like the “good little Germans” who saw what was happening to the Jews in the 1940s but pretended they didn’t know what was happening.

Their silence will not protect them, nor will it absolve them of their guilt.

      • Kadijo

I liked your comment. I am going to add that the 47% comment was heard loud and clear by young latinos in FL. I want to hospitality school there. Everyboby is running around with 2 jobs (yes with some scolarship) to pay for school and living. How do you think they felt when you called them mooshers and takers. AND, not every latino is here illigally. They came out to make a statement and support the leader who SEES them.

        • JojoRaze

I attend CUNY, the city and state sponsored public college system here in NYC and it’s either 1st or 2nd generation immigrant and people here hustle–two or three jobs/internships or whatever; married with kids taking classes; or public school teachers who take classes to get raises and the 47% remark was just so brain-dead. The GOP has no concept of working poor. Just because you are on Medicaid or food stamps/EBT, doesn’t mean you don’t work! It just means you don’t make above the state or federal government notion of poverty level.

Also, how even if you’re working in a customer service job, your boss doesn’t want to give you enough hours or you to live–meaning, you want to work more, but are stuck in part-time because employers are cheap. I am forever hearing stories as I’m on the subway or walking on the street of people, especially black and Latino people saying “Man, I didn’t get enough hours.” “I only got 22 hours this week and I wanted more.” “Girl, I only got a hostess job because I looked forlorn and told the interviewer, “Oh, I’m just looking distant because I’m tired of going to all these interviews and the disappointment and not getting the job.” And the early 20 something Latino girl I heard say this got that job and got a job right next door at a boutique from that restaurant as her second hustle, to get by. She said the only downside was that she had to bring two changes of clothes, but she was glad to be working full-time.

Also, 3/4 of Latinos are citizens. It’s only 1/3 that are here without papers. And a lot of the 1/3 are married to, related to, or friends of the citizens. And maybe a lot of the 3/4 of the legal ones became legal after the 1986 Ronald Reagan amnesty. Why would anyone vote for someone trying to deport their mama, daddy, or themselves, if they were once in the same situation?

        • Town

I would say probably most Latinos aren’t here illegally. Arent Canadians/Eastern Europeans the most numerous illegals?

          • JojoRaze

The studies say that most undocumented people are Mexican, mostly because of counties in CA and TX. Here’s a comprehensive report from Pew Hispanic Center.
            http://www.pewhispanic.org/2009/04/14/a-portrait-of-unauthorized-immigrants-in-the-united-states/

However, here in NY where there are so many different immigrant communities, undocumented people are all colors. I live near an Irish neighborhood and a lot of them have no papers since a lot of Irish came here in the 1990s. Since they are white, they can pass. However, they are very supportive of the DREAM Act and comprehensive immigration reform.

          • conlakappa

Plenty of undocumented people from Ireland on the East and Australians/New Zealanders on the West.

      • GN

        YUP

    • MonieTalks

      Tell it girl!

Republicans in Congress now called immigrants dogs, wanted them electrocuted by fences. Latinos did not forget how they treated Sonia Sotomayor..said that she wasn’t smart enough even though she had a top-notch Ivy League education.

Not to mention Marco Rubio’s silence while all this mess was going down…he is the Latino version of Herman Cain and Clarence Thomas. Folks know the deal and the Latinos in FL are coming after Rick Scott’s ass next.

The China professor ad was deeply offensive. People noticed that one too.

Let them keep thinking they can govern and spew shit like Rush Limbaugh if they want to…nobody’s dismissing their mess. People are taking notes, and voting accordingly.

      • Town

They LAUGHED at her trying to learn English by reading children’s books. You get mad at Latinos for not knowing/speaking English but laugh at their efforts to learn the language. SMH!

        • JojoRaze

I’ve tried to keep up the Spanish I’ve learned since 7th grade and I always watch Noticiero Telemundo or watch the soaps and Mujer Casos de la Vida Real, and until recently, those dang Ingles sin barreras commericals urging Latinos to learn English grated my nerves. For one, it showed that English language acquisition was uber-important to Latinos, and two, it showed how wrong about Latinos republicans are.

          • Town

That’s why I’m watching Univision, to work on my Spanish comprehension. If I see that oil commercial starring Carmen Salinas or that Crema de Concha Nacarrrrrrrr commercial one more time…

          • JojoRaze

LOL on those commercials. I’m mad that Quien Tiene La Razon got rid of Nancy Alvarez and replaced her with this naca-looking Carmen Jara lady. From whom will I learn how to say sicologica. “Senora, busque sicologica!” was her advise for everything!

It’s like Republicans aren’t even trying to understand the people that are outvoting them. If they claim to be Christians and Xians, wouldn’t you want to learn about and interact with people you’re suppose to witness to??

    • JojoRaze

Can I just say Amen to the part where you said “Just because we didn’t say anything” about the disrespect toward the president and “that we weren’t going to do something that wouldn’t benefit the President”?

In my daily life I’m surrounded by whites at school and at work so I don’t talk to them about PBO unless they mention it first, because you never know where people stand, even in a blue state; so you guys are my release. The blatant disrespect was just too much. For POC and especially AA, PBO is the best of us; the fulfillment of what our ancestors died for. Someone posted an article last year that the reason why black people love PBO so much is that he hasn’t done anything that makes us embarrassed, especially with regard to marital fidelity. And the GOP and many whites in general just did not see that. To me, it’s only when Ann Romney started to act so high and mighty and disrespectful that you saw white people go: Michelle could never, ever get away with the mess Ann is going on with. The goalposts for Michelle have been high and she has exceeded those goalposts and people want future First Ladies to act as well as Michelle has.

They really don’t understand what symbolic representation means to POC, when the symbol is as honest and trustworthy as PBO. When our symbol, PBO, who is our best and brightest gets blatantly disrespected, especially for stuff he has no responsibility for (Bush deficits for example), that means we ourselves are seen and viewed as lower than dirt; after all, if you can do that to him, what will you do to us? And we knew,POC, especially black people, are seen as whiners when we complain about racism to the white majority, we held our tongues, like we always do, and bided our time; because we knew, like my fam says, “tell truth day (the election) will come,” we just stored those slights in our data banks. Added to that the blatant voter suppression–the fact that voter ID only became an issue only after the first POC became prez–Blacks, Latinos, and Asians were not having it. We knew PBO was trying to help and got stymied by hateful, mostly white men in Congress, and were not going to reward obstruction.

      • rikyrah

you know, comedians say it in ‘jest’, but they can speak utter truths…..

Black folks believe Barack and Michelle Obama are the very best that our community could give to this country.

        The very best.

Which is why the disrespect shown them is nothing BUT personal for us.

You disrespect the best we have to offer, and you think we don’t take it seriously?

        • Town

Especially when you sit on TV, writing your little books, telling black people “We’d respect you if you

          a) Got married before having kids

          b) Did well in school and went to college

          c) Don’t go to jail and act right

          d) Live in a Good Neighborhood

The Obamas did all that and still got disrespected. Fox News reduced Michelle Obama to nothing more than a “baby momma”…they would NEVER call Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Ann Romney, Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, Roslyn Carter, Betty Ford, Pat Nixon, Ladybird Johnson, Jackie Kennedy, Mamie Eisenhower etc. “baby mommas.”

          • JojoRaze

            YASSS!!! Especially on the this.

Especially when you sit on TV, writing your little books, telling black people “We’d respect you if you

            a) Got married before having kids

            b) Did well in school and went to college

            c) Don’t go to jail and act right

            d) Live in a Good Neighborhood

PBO and Michelle leaped over the goalpost these people had set and they still were treating them like Ray-Ray and Ashenkashay. Even Ray-Ray and Ashenkashay was giving Faux News and the right the side-eye at the disrespect shown to PBO saying “Hold up, they ain’t got charges/bad credit/16 baby daddies/mamas and know what a petit four is, how you treating them like dirt? Nah, son, that ain’t right.”

          • TyrenM

Say That One again – Mamie… wouldn’t be called a “baby momma.”

    • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

Asians voters were like, “‘Model Minority’ my ass muthafuckas!”

      • JojoRaze

I saw the cutest East Asian college-aged guys on tv election night doing this combination dougie temptation dance with their arms when it was announced PBO won. I saw one Asian lady in the Romney audience is Boston. And there were 20 different Asian people at PBO headquarters. There was Sikh, Indian, East Asian, etc. PBO is himself a model minority and when Asians saw that he was getting disrespected, they looked at their kids and was like “If the Repubs get away with disrespecting him, y’all don’t have a chance.”

Poll: Obama got big share of Cuban American vote, won among other Hispanics in Florida

President Obama nearly won the solidly Republican Cuban-American vote in Florida and rolled up huge margins with every other Hispanic group in the state, according to an exit poll performed by a firm that also worked for his campaign.

Obama actually won Cuban-Americans who voted on Election Day itself, taking 53 percent of their vote compared to 47 percent for Republican Mitt Romney, who built up a lead among those who cast absentee and early in-person ballots, according to the survey of 4,866 voters conducted by Bendixen & Amandi International.

Romney narrowly carried Cuban-Americans, 52-48 percent, which is a decrease for Republicans when compared to 2008.

“Obama is picking the Republican lock in Florida,” Fernand Amandi said, noting that Hispanics are Florida’s fastest-growing segment of the electorate.

Even with Cuban-Americans narrowly breaking for Romney, Obama captured the overall Florida Hispanic vote 61-39. Florida’s second-largest Hispanic group, Puerto Ricans, gave Obama out-sized support over Romney, 83-17 percent.

“This is an ominous, ominous sign for Republicans,” Amandi said. His partner, Sergio Bendixen, added that “Puerto Ricans in Florida are voting like Puerto Ricans in New York… solidly Democratic.”

I talked to my Miami Cuban friend about it. She was independent. Her mother was staunchly R but said a while ago that she would be voting for the President, which she considered, “so as my mother goes, so goes Cuban Florida.” But she also noted that Cubans don’t trust Mormons, which might have been why Rubio didn’t want to damage his own brand.

    Good afternoon POU!
Woo boy, it has been a long, exciting, hard-working, but ultimately rewarding 72 hours. I spent yesterday trying to catch my breath (and a couple of zzzz’s) and today, it’s back to my regularly schedule program. I know ya’ll held it down here on Tuesday night. I got to celebrate with the local OFA crew when the announcement was made, and later we went to a partly hosted by our county’s Democratic Party. Folks were electric sliding, cupid shuffling and wobbling all night. =)

Anyway, I’ve been checking out YouTube clips from Tuesday, and here’s a cute one I found. Saw the flags swaying on the tv screens that night, and I figured this is what they were singing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KWhOvbNuHo

I saw this lil nugget in the WaPo article Miranda posted in the open thread. VERY interesting…

Another major Romney fundraiser said Christie’s embrace of Obama after Sandy walloped his state only deepened a rift that opened between the Romney and Christie camps over the summer.

Christie and his wife were unhappy with Romney’s vice presidential search process, believing they were “led a little bit far down the garden path” without being picked, the fundraiser said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/decision2012/life-after-defeat-for-mitt-romney-public-praise-private-questions/2012/11/07/4db3bc38-2916-11e2-96b6-8e6a7524553f_story_1.html

This might explain Christie’s RNC speech.

    • JojoRaze

Christie wanted to see some receipts, the tax returns. He was probably thinking “This faker wants to see my taxes and ain’t show his. Nah, son. Keep hope alive 2016!” Christie is a former Bush ADA. He knows what hiding tax returns means.

    - -Romney Pays for his Disrespect of African Americans By Losing 99% of the Vote in Some Communities- –

    - – — – The booing of Mitt Romney’s treatment of the president at the NAACP convention was not a one time thing. Many African Americans displayed their disapproval of Romney giving 99% of the vote to Obama in some communities.

According to philly.com, “In a city where President Obama received more than 85 percent of the votes, in some places he received almost every one. In 13 Philadelphia wards, Obama received 99 percent of the vote or more…Nor was Philadelphia the only place in the region with such high numbers for Obama. Five Delaware County towns topped 90 percent, led by Yeadon at 96.3. Following were Chester City (94.8), Darby Borough (93.5), Chester Township (92.3), and Colwyn (90.3).”>/u>- -[@isonprize :>)]

    - – -THIS– -This backlash against Romney and the GOP occurred for several reasons. First, support for this president among African-Americans along with other members of the Obama coalition has never wavered. Through good and bad, African-Americans, Latinos, and young voters have all given President Obama higher approval ratings than he has averaged with the rest of the country.

Obama’s maintained high level of support is what made Mitt Romney’s behavior so curious. Romney went beyond not trying to court these voters. The Republican nominee appeared hell bent on antagonizing them. From his self-deportation immigration position to an education plan that boiled down to borrow the money from mom and dad to go to college, Romney not only lost the support of these voters. He offended them.

    – - – -THIS- ->However, it was the African American community that he appeared to purposefully take aim at. In hindsight, it seems that Mitt Romney addressed the NAACP convention with the intention of creating a photo-op, but not the normal kind of photo-op. Romney was looking to be booed. Romney appears to have attempted to use the NAACP convention as a prop in his endless appeal to white voters. It turns out that this courting of white voters through race baiting was based on the Romney campaign’s inaccurate premise that minorities would not show up to vote in 2012. Romney also targeted African Americans with his lie filled ad accusing President Obama of ending welfare to work.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/11/08/romney-team-we-lost-florida/?Post+generic=%3Ftid%3Dsm_twitter_washingtonpost

    Why Obama wins Florida

Though votes are still being tallied, President Obama is all but assured a victory in Florida because the lion’s share of the outstanding ballots come from Democratic-heavy counties.

Obama leads Republican Mitt Romney by 55,825 votes — or 49.9 percent to 49.24 — but there just aren’t enough votes from Republican areas to allow the challenger to catch up.

Romney’s Florida campaign has acknowledged he lost in Florida as well. Romney already conceded the national race after he lost the other battleground states.

So it begins. We have over 600,000 uncounted ballots sitting in bins & a whole county that seems to be “missing.” My Sis is losing her mind but I just don’t have the energy for any more fight right now. There are plenty of others carrying the ball on this one, including it is rumored, DOJ.

When all those ballots get counted, I doubt it will matter to PBO but for our close local races it will matter. One candidate has already withdrawn his concession. About 1/5 of those ballots are provisional but the rest are early ballots that were mailed later than Nov 1 or brought to the polls on Nov 6. Signatures have to be verified. People are pissed!

I am finding that I just can’t work up the ire for this one. Some of it may be the voters own fault for not following directions or it could be Repugnant BS. I’ll let someone else sort it all out.

HILARIOUS…on Tuesday I saw wingnuts screeching on twitter about the impending confrontation between the new blackety black thug panthers and the patriotic noble Seal Team November 6…I had forgotten all about it…so this is what happened at the big confrontation.

New Black Panther Was ‘Pleasant To Speak With,’ Says Poll Watcher

WASHINGTON — The New Black Panther Party member who stood in front of a single Philadelphia polling station on Election Day, and drew a disproportionate amount of critical attention from conservative media, was “nonthreatening” and “relatively pleasant to speak with,” said a retired military intelligence officer who investigated the man.

“What we observed was absolutely nonthreatening, nonbelligerent, and non-intimidating,” Kerry Patton told The Huffington Post on Thursday. Patton looked into the reports of a man in “semi-military” garb that seized headlines on Fox News on Tuesday and have continued this week.

Romney then said what they knew: it was over.

His personal assistant, Garrett Jackson, called his counterpart on Mr. Obama’s staff, Marvin Nicholson. “Is your boss available?” Jackson asked.

Romney was stoic as he talked the president, an aide said, but his wife Ann cried. Running mate Paul Ryan seemed genuinely shocked, the adviser said. Ryan’s wife Janna also was shaken and cried softly.

“There’s nothing worse than when you think you’re going to win, and you don’t,” said another adviser. “It was like a sucker punch.”

Their emotion was visible on their faces when they walked on stage after Romney finished his remarks, which Romney had hastily composed, knowing he had to say something.

Both wives looked stricken, and Ryan himself seemed grim. They all were thrust on that stage without understanding what had just happened.

“He was shellshocked,” one adviser said of Romney.

      • Tafr

Hey Sag. There was no honest reason for them to be shocked. Didn’t Romney’s campaign have their own polls? I tell you the idea that they were so damn shocked is a little disturbing.

      • Camille

        Thank you.

This bogus narrative that they had it in the bag, that Romney was “honorable” and ran a terrific campaign, that because of the primaries a wealthy millionaire who spent $45 million of his own money running in 2008 and who has essentially been running for president for almost 7 years and had enough money to self finance – at least the initial setup of his campaign, lacked a similar ground game because he spent too much time fending off competitors in the primaries and so had little time to set up campaign offices around the country. Huh??

That it was all theirs to lose before President Obama went “negative”, was “trounced” in a single debate by the shocking and still unaddressed lies of a brazenly greedy, soul-less liar, and also that hurricane Sandy threw President Obama a lifeline to then suddenly “seize upon bipartisanship” and ridiculously provided a “rare” chance for a man who has been one of the greatest and most gracious President in history to “act and appear” presidential-

They have spun these lies again and again to muddy up narratives and keep the Mitt Romney is a “businessman” who might have saved America because his white skin automatically bestowed upon him secret knowledge of how to magically create jobs meme alive-

Never mind that all evidence devastatingly dissembles their crap.

The heartless entitled privileged businessman who was born with all the advantages and a silver foot in his mouth and a shallow, perpetually afflicted, hysterical, whiny, self-absorbed equally entitled and heartless airhead wife to boot, was simply a hollow wash from the very start.

He was never a smart businessman, just a cold, callous, self-serving, calculating greedy asshole who found due to his legacy inheritance and position of privilege, easy ways to amass wealth – not by creating jobs or things or working ethically, but by “legitimately” stealing hundreds of millions of dollars while callously devastating people’s live, families, communities and the very nation he sought to lead.

Little wonder he had no idea how to build a real and effective campaign of real people and a coalition that did not rely solely on appealing to the greedy megalomaniacs, racists, bigots and self loathing assholes; and felt no need to do more besides doing what he does best – outsource his campaign to a coalition of evil assholes, sitting back waiting for the returns on his monetary investment.

Once again, Romney did so little with so much money – including paying out undeserved bonuses to his closest staff people to buy and keep their loyalty, while the Obama campaign did so much with much lesser – earning the love, respect and support of millions of unpaid volunteers who continued to be inspired and to believe in the man and the cause of perfecting our union and protecting the engine of a nation – its middle class.

So tell me again who was the superior, flush with foresight, focused, determined, well structured, true and effective leader..?
