They are doing this on purpose…they are mudding the waters hoping they don’t get busted. This is why I love OFA–no O’Keefe idiots can come in and mess with them for they see the okey-doke, 50 miles away.

      • TyrenM

I feel that sh. How did that mf get elected Mayor? And is he running again?

        • nellcote

He bought the election and changed the rules so he could have a 3rd term.

          • JojoRaze

And he didn’t win in the poorest–read blackest and more hispanic parts of the boroughs in the 3rd election. He lost the vote in the Bronx and the black portions of Brooklyn. He only won by 5 points, which after he bribed all the other city big-wigs to get on the ballot, was a poor showing.

    • GN

I’ll eat crow, because I was pissed as hell yesterday; glad to see this endorsement.

Always being the better person, play-cousin.

    • MsKitty

Glad that he’s endorsing PBO but it was so damning with faint praise that I was like, why did you even bother? To me it came off as “I’m not really feeling Obama because he isn’t playing Stepin Fetchit enough for my liking, but I’ll support him anyway because Willard would let my city drown.”

    • nellcote

I wonder if Bloomberg took this into account:

“Romney’s spokeswoman, Andrea Saul, told the Associated Press yesterday that Romney had relied on what she called an inaccurate story from Bloomberg News”

I read about this on Think Progress earlier. The reason for the restaurant shutting down was because the place was stuck in 1965 and nasty as hell:
      http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/11/01/1122211/romney-campaign-blames-obama-for-closed-bbq-restaurant-with-repeated-health-violations/

Maybe if their employees washed their hands and shit was coming up all out the drains they’d still be open. Nasty asses.

    • nellcote

At that point, Romney volunteered what he figured was the next step down in the diminishing dining continuum. “Taco Bell,” he said.
      ===
Taco Bell? Rmoney really can’t help himself.

      • Miranda

        He is such an ass.

    • Town

Let me tell you about Bill’s BBQ:

Yeah, it was a Richmond institution that shut down back in September but honestly their BBQ was crappy. Watery pulled pork that wasn’t flavorful at all. You could get better BBQ at the supermarket hot bar. People just went there b/c it was an institution but they didn’t change with the times so they had to go. And like all dinosaurs that refuse to change with the times and fail, they blame somebody else. Obama didn’t have anything to do with Bill’s BBQ failing, their crappy watery BBQ is why Bill’s BBQ failed. Why buy Bill’s when there’s a better joint across the street?

  • QOakaJP

Just posted this comment at TOD. Today’s one of those days I feel inspired to blog it out a little bit :

Since August, I’ve been spending at least a few days a week on average working with OFA here on the west coast, in the offices, over the phone, and most recently, in Nevada. Before last week, I had NEVER canvassed door to door for anyone or anything. (I joked with someone I met that the last time I knocked on doors was to sell girl scout cookies or school candy, I and I didn’t like it.) I went with a group of nine (out of around 1000 Californian volunteers that weekend alone) across state lines and into to the Reno area. We canvassed in Sparks, which is republican country for sure. It was an interesting experience, and those of us who went felt that we had really accomplished something, even if it was just to flip a few votes or help enthusiastic voters find their early voting places. I’m glad that, with 90 days to go, I decided to get actively involved in the re-election campaign. Last time around, I was just an observer- a “Quiet Observer,” if you will. ;-) I was definitely an Obama supporter, but not someone who contributed in any way directly to the Obama/Biden campaign. I was more interested in watching, listening, and chronicling what was happening and what could happen.

This time around, I was more compelled to protect what we had started, to keep this president who has already done so much, despite the walls of hate and obstruction from some, in the White House. I’ll admit, I had to get over my own wariness about getting to0 closely involved with political campaigns (even though I’ve been a registered voter since 18 and never missed an election). But this administration, this president, this man, means so much on every level- politically, economically, socially, historically, culturally. His work is not done by any means, nor is it safe if we allow Romney (or anyone else, for that matter) to take over now.

That all being said, I am really over this election news cycle. I’m tired of hearing about it. I’m tired of talking about it. So much nonsense, BS, and corporate-backed commercials posing as “news” and “journalism.” And an obviously unqualified and unworthy opponent to the incumbent pres who everyone continues to prop us as a serious and competitive candidate. (Let’s face it: if he was running against any other president who had done what our president has done, Romney would’ve already given his concession speech around mid September). As tragic as this hurricane has been, times like these highlight the smallness of the infotainment culture, but they also underscore that right now, we have a true leader representing us, here and throughout the world. President Obama is already a great president. He can help usher in even more positive progress over the next four years, and in the future, he will be hailed among the greatest.

So while I’m ready for the next 5 days to be done with, I’ll spend each of them helping, in whatever way I can, to get out the vote. The campaign chatter in the news bores me, but I’m excited about the future. And to move into to that exciting future, we have to re-elect President Obama.

In the final days, I’m really appreciating the truth and brilliance of the 2012 slogan: Forward!

    • edp4bho

You must be my twin. I too never did this before, I hate the political news (I want to decorate another room instead), and I absolutely ADORE PBO. So yes, I shall be working this entire election weekend doing all I can to retain his stewardship. Great great commentary !!

    • Elie

Thank you. I too have been volunteering but will use these last few days to canvass California. I think we need to make sure that we aren’t taking it for granted.
Seeing Romney ads here pissed me off and we have to make sure that low-info voters and sedentary racists don’t get suckered in.

    Our American endorsement
    Which one?
America could do better than Barack Obama; sadly, Mitt Romney does not fit the bill

OUR years ago, The Economist endorsed Barack Obama for the White House with enthusiasm. So did millions of voters. Next week Americans will trudge to the polls far less hopefully. So (in spirit at least) will this London-based newspaper. Having endured a miserably negative campaign, the world’s most powerful country now has a much more difficult decision to make than it faced four years ago.

That is in large part because of the woeful nature of Mr Obama’s campaign. A man who once personified hope and centrism set a new low by unleashing attacks on Mitt Romney even before the first Republican primary. Yet elections are about choosing somebody to run a country. And this choice turns on two questions: how good a president has Mr Obama been, especially on the main issues of the economy and foreign policy? And can America really trust the ever-changing Mitt Romney to do a better job? On that basis, the Democrat narrowly deserves to be re-elected.

    http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21565623-america-could-do-better-barack-obama-sadly-mitt-romney-does-not-fit-bill-which-one

    • Kennymack1971

This is how bad Romney’s campaign has gone.: The Economist would’ve preferred to endorse a barca lounger over the President and still couldn’t bring themselves to endorse Willard. As for their shots at POTUS… pffft. We all know that is BS.

      • JojoRaze

The lesser of two evils crap ticked me off. It’s like these white men are mad that PBO is intellectually, temperamentally better than the great white hope that is Mittens.

For Romney to win, the state polls have to be very, very wrong
    By Greg Sargent

Conservatives are taking heart today from a very interesting piece by Reid Wilson that explains some of the disparities between Republican and Democratic internal polling. Yet Wilson’s reporting also confirms something about the race that shouldn’t really give the right all that much comfort: The public polling overwhelmingly tracks with the Dem reading of the electorate, and not with the Republican reading of it.

Wilson explains that questions about how diverse the electorate will be this time around are driving the differences between the GOP and Dem internal polling. Both sides agree that the African American vote will make up roughly the same share of the electorate as in 2008. They differ when it come to Latinos and young voters. Republicans think Latino turnout will be down, thanks to the economy and Obama’s failure to secure immigration reform. They think fewer young voters will turn out and/or that fewer will vote for Obama this time. Republicans think the electorate will be older and whiter. Dems believe the electorate will continue to grow younger and more diverse.

That’s a legit argument to have, and we won’t know who’s right until Election Day. But Wilson adds this absolutely crucial point:

What concerns Republicans most is the fact that media polls seem to track more closely with Democratic internals than with the GOP’s numbers.
This perfectly captures the state of play right now, which is that the consensus of averages of all the state polling is far more in sync with the Democratic reading of the electorate than with the Republican reading of the electorate . And there are five days left.

As a result, Romney is stooping to desperate attacks, including one of the most misleading, hypocritical, and indefensible ads we’ve ever seen in a presidential race. In response, Obama for America has released new television ad “Cynical” to capture the remarkable desperation behind Romney’s current strategy. Florida GOP Memo – ‘Democratic Turnout Machine Is Cleaning Our Clock’

A ‘worried GOPer’ leaked this memo from the Palm Beach County branch of the Florida Republican Party to the Palm Beach Post, revealing what sounds like concern–if not utter panic–on the part of the GOP[....]

Early and absentee voting is starting to look troubling As of yesterday, Republicans made up just 22% of early voters and 30% of returned absentee ballots. This is closer to (And worse than) 2008 where we saw 19% EV [early voters] and 38% of absentees. 2010 (our Blowout year) was 33% of EV and 5% of AB [absentee ballots].

Conclusion: The Democratic turnout machine in the county has been very effective and they are cleaning our clock Even if Romney wins the state (likely based on polls) the turnout deficit in PBC [Palm Beach County] will affect our local races.

NET: when you are calling or canvassing, remind people how effective our opposition has been and how they must not only get themselves to the polls but their friends and neighbors as well.[...]

78% Approve Of President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Response

[....] President Obama apparently resolved to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor. Revamping FEMA, the much maligned Federal Emergency Management Agency, which bore the brunt of criticism in the federal government’s Katrina response; Obama’s efforts have seemingly paid off in the precautions and warnings that went out several days in advance of the storm’s landfall.

Fatalities were minimal compared to the sheer extent of the property damage to the entire East Coast. Accordingly, the President has been rewarded with an initial Washington Post/ABC Tracking Poll, showing that 78% of respondents approve of the President’s handling of Hurricane Sandy.[....]

Nonpartisan Tax Report Withdrawn After G.O.P. Protest

WASHINGTON — The Congressional Research Service has withdrawn an economic report that found no correlation between top tax rates and economic growth, a central tenet of conservative economy theory, after Senate Republicans raised concerns about the paper’s findings and wording.

The decision, made in late September against the advice of the agency’s economic team leadership, drew almost no notice at the time. Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, cited the study a week and a half after it was withdrawn in a speech on tax policy at the National Press Club.

But it could actually draw new attention to the report, which questions the premise that lowering the top marginal tax rate stimulates economic growth and job creation.

Galaxies collide as Oprah and Arianna join forces :”The two most powerful women in American media today linked up on Huffington’s ever-expanding website when they launched HuffPost OWN, a new section that will feature — what else? — lifestyle advice and personal inspiration from the Oprah Winfrey Network and Oprah.com.”

Gave up on Oprah already and won’t be surprised if she announces a collaboration with Donald Trump and John Sununu soon.
I’m no longer surprised at anything she does to maintain her 1% status frankly. She doesn’t seem to care as long as it keeps her relevant and rich, which is pretty sad and disappointing. No integrity, no honor, no pride, no thought for the greater good.
