I now get it it, the press is really mad Romney did not win as predicted. It’s personal as they were all part of the 60 percent white voters

    • BluMilw

I saw that they were harping on how his approval ratings are so low this morning on GMA. Then, showed the poll where Romney would win, if the election were held today. I just rolled my eyes. Wishful thinking mofos. PBO is and will be the President for another 3 years. I went to a dinner last night and a dudebro told me that he voted for PBO twice & that he knew he should be mad at PBO but he didn’t know why. I’m sure the look on my face was not nice. I gave my two cents on the ACA & how the insurance companies the issue. So, he decided that he’s upset that the WH hasn’t explained things better. I asked “how can they when the media & GOP are framing the conversation?”

      • conlakappa

I’d have gotten all Baby Jane, “but the election is not being held today, GMA!” There are people who would fall away from the President over a glitchy Web site. Really?

        • itgurl_29

They ran the same kind of polls early last term, where ppl preferred President Billary or McCain. These fools ain’t got nothing better to do.

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

CNN Anchor Don Lemon Getting His Own Daily Primetime Show
    by Sergio November 18, 2013 11:49 PM

No need to tell you that CNN weekend anchor Don Lemon has been the subject of controversy of late. And whether you agree with some of his recent public stands on current issues of the day or don’t, one thing is for sure – and that is that, whether you like him or not, he has given CNN something of an “edge”, a personality, which is something that has worked very well for MSNBC and Fox News.

And no doubt, seeing the attention that Lemon has been getting lately and the potential for ratings, CNN has followed suit and will be giving
Lemon his own primetime show, five days a week on the network.

The show will air starting next month, at the 11PM (10 PM Central) time slot, which is currently being held by reruns of Outfront hosted by Erin Burnett.

This show will last as long as ‘Alan Keyes is Making Sense.’ Watch.

Any who, sepia, I have to correct something I said yesterday about Picasso, Dada and African art. It wasn’t Dada that ripped from West African art, but Cubism. Dada and Cubism sprung up at the same time and Dada could have Cubist elements, but it was more installation base, and bigged-up the absurd, like Marcel Duchamp putting a urinal in a museum and saying it was art. So look up Cubism and how it ripped off West African art.

      Well played Don.

He will continue to use black folks as props because in order to get the views he wants, he needs to be as controversial as possible…and nothing sells quite like us. So I fully expect even more nonsense about the unruly coloreds from him going forward.

Horse-drawn carriage takes Ambassador Caroline Kennedy to present credentials to Japan’s Emperor Akihito
    November 19, 2013

TOKYO U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy traveled by horse-drawn carriage into the Imperial Palace to present her credentials to Japan’s emperor on Tuesday, giving the public a rare look at a diplomatic tradition.

Hundreds of onlookers lined the avenues near the moat-ringed palace to snap pictures and wave as Kennedy, 55-year-old daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, waved back from inside the carriage.

Why would he purposefully lie about this to have it blow up in his face? Why would PBO want people’s policies cancelled? “The problem with these controversies the media drum up is that they can’t find the malacious intentin PBo to do harm, or the economic incentive for him to want to ddo evil against people. After the smoke clears PBO approval numbers will return to normal and the MSM’s credibility will dip again. Reminds me of a study done about cigarette smoking and advertising, particularly Public Service Announcements. People responded better (reduction in smoking) to PSAs that described how the industry manipulated them (lies and distortions) rather than pics of black lung (consequences of smoking). This bullshit reporting, in the long run, will not hurt PBO.

I saw this kid on GMA this morning…and yeah, he’s a kid…a 17 yr old kid that’s 6’4 and 400 lbs. Watching the other players try to tackle him was like watching a cartoon.
    —————————

    From Yahoo Sports:
The video you see above was brought to Prep Rally’s attention by USA Today, and it is absolutely spectacular. Throughout a series of highlights, the 6-foot-5, 400-pound Picard runs over defensive linemen like a tractor. It’s not that the White Swan High (Yakima) senior is particularly fast, he’s just completely impossible to bring down, and has some agility to boot.

No wonder. When was the last time you saw a 400-pound player running with the football?

“It’s so much fun to have him go out [on the field] as a captain and see him shaking hands before the game,” White Swan coach Andrew Bush told Indian Country Today Media Network. “They’re just kind of staring, like ‘Oh my gosh, you’ve got to be kidding me!'”

By comparison, Fangupo starred at Kealakehe High (Kailua-Kona, Hi.) weighing in at 350 pounds and 6-foot-2.Perry was famously 6-2 and 335 pounds. Picard has them both topped by at least 50 pounds and 2 inches.

He’s athletic, too. The first time Bush thought about using Picard as a running back was on the basketball court, where the nose tackle was holding his own against his much smaller teammates.

Unequal Pay Is Even More Unequal For Women Of Color
By Bryce Covert on November 15, 2013 at 12:37 pm

While women overall still made just 77 cents for each dollar men made last year, that gap is far wider for women of color. In an analysis of recent Census data, the National Women’s Law Center finds that an African-American woman working full time, year round made just 64 cents for every dollar a white man made and Hispanic women made just 54 cents.

NWLC notes that these racial and gender wage gaps mean that black women lost $18,650 compared to white men and Hispanic women lost $24,111.

    http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/11/15/2950501/racial-wage-gap/

    • Alma98

Really! These studies are a waste why not just ask us.

      • rikyrah

Because Alma, just like for years, when we talked about ‘racial profiling’..
        it was ‘in our imaginations’.
Now, they didn’t need to pay out money for a study
but, some folks need ‘ studies’.
        And, guess what?
When the studies come out, then the name of the game will be to change the studies.
Right after the data was collected that proved racial profiling, suddenly, they wanted to change the law about collecting such data, instead of dealing with what the data collection presented AS FACT.

        • Alma98

          Too true rikyrah, too true.
I’m sure us not making more money will be turned into something we’re doing wrong.

Citing overreach, Republicans ponder new checks on executive powers
    By Molly K. Hooper – 11/19/13 06:00 AM EST

Congressional Republicans are considering various options to curb President Obama’s use of executive powers, which they say are excessive.

GOP officials have long claimed that the president has violated the law and the Constitution through administrative actions on issues ranging from immigration to nominations to the U.S. military involvement in Libya.

But the president’s recent move to change ObamaCare through an administrative fix has sparked a new round of discussions within the conservative base and Republicans on Capitol Hill.

    Rebellion brews over O-Care fix
By Alexander Bolton – 11/19/13 06:00 AM EST

The administration is risking rebellion from some Democrats in Congress if it fails to deliver on its promise to fix HealthCare.gov by the Nov. 30 deadline set by President Obama.

By and large, Democratic lawmakers have held their fire to give Obama’s team space to fix the technical problems that have stalled the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

If the president’s team fails to deliver, Democrats will embrace legislation extending the law’s enrollment period or forcing insurance companies to continue offering plans that do not meet ObamaCare’s standards, according to Democratic aides.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D), whose home state of New Hampshire does not have a state-run healthcare exchange and must depend on the faulty federal website, has proposed extending the enrollment period and delaying penalties.

  • Town

I’m trying to understand why white people are so angry about what happened between Winston Salem & Virginia State. None of them send their kids there or would ever think to send their kids there so why are they so worked up to seek justice?

    • Miranda

      Because……..black people.

    • rikyrah

      what happened, Town?

      • Town

A bunch of VSU football players beat up the WSSU quarterback in the bathroom. So the CIAA canceled the championship game and also the volleyball game. 1 VSU player was arrested & they’re accusing the VSU coach of covering stuff up*

A bunch of VSU students, parents & alumni are furious about being kicked out of the championship game & are demanding answers. They want to know why all the kids are being punished for the actions of a few.

So white people (who would never send their kids to VSU—just sayin’) are demanding action & answers, they want the VSU coach fired, they want VSU punished, they want the black community held responsible.

When the UVA lacrosse player killed his girlfriend, they did not demand the coach be fired.

When Marcus Vick was stomping on people’s legs in the bowl game, they did not demand Frank Beamer be fired.

When 9000 JMU students rioted at a party (out of a campus of 18,000), they did not demand the JMU president be fired.

They aren’t even calling for the firing of the president of VaTech over the shootings with the fervor they’re carrying on about VSU, a school they do not attend, would not attend and would never send their children to.

So I’m just trying to understand why white people are so worked up about a situation that does not impact them in anyway, or must they be in control of what happens at the black schools they would never attend, too?

        • Miranda

          Yes.

          • Town

Understand, I agree with the decision to shut VSU down from the championship game. If your teammates decide to beat up the rival team’s quarterback, your whole team should suffer the consequences. So the parents, alumni & students should have a seat with that one. (I don’t agree about the volleyball team, though…what did THEY do?)

But, to have a bunch of white people screaming on all the radio shows, in all the TV & newspaper forums about how VSU needs to be severely punished is laughable, because they don’t attend VSU, never attended VSU, never will attend VSU & would never send their kids to VSU…so why do you care?

*VSU football coach is already on thin ice b/c this coaching job is his last chance…he’s messed up so many times before in the past (DUI), this is literally his last chance.

        • rikyrah

    – — – -Calls obstruction ‘completely unprecedented’ as 3rd nominee in a month foiled

    – –Senate Republicans blocked President Obama’s third straight nominee to a key appellate court yesterday, continuing a -fight that has stoked partisan tensions in the Senate. Robert Wilkins, a District Court judge in Washington who in 2010 was confirmed by the Senate on a voice vote, was nominated to fill one of three vacancies on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The court—often referred to as the second most powerful court in the country, after the Supreme Court—has had two other Obama nominees blocked by Republicans this month, including Georgetown professor Cornelia Pillard.

The Senate voted 53-38 in favor of ending Republican-led delays, falling short of the 60 votes required to advance Wilkins’ nomination.
Republicans Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine voted with Democrats to end debate. Obama called the vote “completely unprecedented” obstruction.

A word from Donna Dem over at The Obama Diary:

Mr. President, I am forever grateful for your patience, tolerance, intelligence, kindness, thoughtfulness and service to our Nation at a time in history when we so desperately needed your distinct leadership. How you have been able to do this in the face of constant hate from the right, non-stop negative focus by our media and at times what appears to be people in your own party who let the media and the right cause them to lose their spine is beyond my comprehension.

The enemy hates you but you continue to fight for them even while they don’t deserve your hard work and effort. I will ALWAYS have your back. ObamaCare is your signature legislation and you will go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents of all time because of it. Your adversaries know this and it drives them crazy. You make all those in the media and on the Right appear so small minded. They focus on petty, negative things that in the big picture mean absolutely nothing to the average person seeking affordable health care. All the noise surrounding the launch of ACA will be forgotten because we your supporters will work our hearts out to make sure that everyone who needs insurance signs up (by whatever means necessary) to get insurance. We will promote ACA until we are blue in the face, if that is what it takes to make ObamaCare a complete success.

I’ve watched over these past six years as the media, the right and some on the left question time and again as to who you are. I’ll end this by sharing with the rest of the public what those of us who have been paying attention already know.

You are a man of strong character. You have the biggest heart of any politician I have ever seen. You are a family man. Family means everything to you. The service and sacrifices you are making today are all being done so that you will leave this world a better place for Malia and Sasha. Your spine is reinforced by a great, brilliant and beautiful woman in Michelle Obama. You look out over the universe and although there is so much negativity and ugliness to weigh you down you see the good in people. Somehow you are able to push past the filth and pinpoint the positive.

Obamacare is a gift that will keep on giving well into the future. No amount of media bashing, rightwing thrashing or some spineless Dems gnashing is going to stop this train from rolling on down the track.

The Obamacare train has left the station and its destination is affordable health care

Latest Macy’s Allegation: NYPD Officer Says Macy’s Racially Profiled Her in Black Friday Arrest
By James Fanelli and Murray Weiss November 18, 2013 9:47pm

A Hispanic NYPD officer taking advantage of post-Thanksgiving sales at Macy’slast year was wrongfully arrested for shoplifting after the store’s security lied that she confessed to the crime, a new lawsuit charges.

Jenny Mendez, 29, is suing the department store for $40 million, claiming its workers racially profiled her — and the bogus arrest got her bounced from the police department after less than a year on the job.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Bronx Civil Supreme Court, also accuses bosses at Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square of encouraging security to lie in their internal theft reports.

Mendez, who lives in the Bronx, was acquitted of the shoplifting charges in September. During the two-day bench trial, a store detective took the stand and admitted her supervisors told her to fudge paperwork.

The store detective, whom the lawsuit only names as Trouche, testified that she checked “yes” in a section of her report in which it asks if Mendez admitted the theft.

Trouche said she lied about the confession because it was “something our boss told us” to do, according to court records.

    • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

Hol’ up. A sales clerk gave Jenny and her mom an empty shopping bag to put clothes in to try on, and they allow them to take that bag, with the unpurchases clothes, from floor-to-floor??? I have been to Macy’s Herald Square many times over the years, and they do not allow you to take unpurchased items from one floor to the next, and they damn sure don’t give you an empty bag to carry them around in.

What helped her was the store detective admitting she lied on her report. As for this being a racial profiling case, I don’t see it.

      • Miranda

Yeah, that doesn’t add up. They may give you one of those mesh bags to carry around clothes when you have a lot, but more than likely the sales person will ask if they can go “start your dressing room” for you – not give you an ACTUAL Macy’s shopping bag.

State Rep. Uses Sledgehammer To Destroy Homeless People’s Possessions
BY SCOTT KEYES ON NOVEMBER 19, 2013 AT 10:38 AM

Much like Batkid, Hawaii has found its own superhero. Except that instead of protecting the powerless from harm, he roams the streets with a sledgehammer and looks for homeless people in order to literally smash their possessions.

Remarkably, this vigilante isn’t just some random Hawaiian, but five-term State Rep. Tom Brower (D).

Noting that he’s “disgusted” with homeless people, Brower told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser about his own personal brand of “justice”: “If I see shopping carts that I can’t identify, I will destroy them so they can’t be pushed on the streets.” Brower has waged this campaign for two weeks, estimating that he’s smashed about 30 shopping carts in the process.

“I want to do something practical that will really clean up the streets,” he explained to Hawaii News Now as he showed off his property destruction skills:

Uncontent to just destroy homeless people’s items, Brower is also on a mission to wake those he finds sleeping and tell them to sleep somewhere else. “If someone is sleeping at night on the bus stop, I don’t do anything, but if they are sleeping during the day, I’ll walk up and say, ‘Get your ass moving,’” he said.

      How horrible!
Homeless people have property rights, too.
Warm weather locations always attract homeless people,
so it’s cruel and willfully shortsighted to act as if violent
attacks will stop people from coming. How about a long
term plan? Oh, that would require too much compassion
      and practical problem solving.
I’m ashamed to see he has a D after his name.

Y’all, I had the scariest creepiest dream last night and I have no idea where it came from. I think I might write a screenplay or something. Anyway, in my dream, I was in Sweden. And there was this underground supper club where they kidnapped, killed, and ate POC immigrants. It was really scary and I helped save a couple of people from being eaten. But I don’t know where the dream came from, but it was very vivid and I’m still scared this afternoon. So I’m gonna turn it into a story to get it out of my system.

Conservative Group Calls Off ‘Catch an Illegal Immigrant Game’
    By JORDAN FABIAN – 11/19/2013, 10:56AM / Updated 11/19/2013, 10:56AM

A conservative group has canceled a so-called “Catch an Illegal Immigrant Game” it planned to hold on the campus of the University of Texas.

The event drew condemnation from other student groups and Democrats. University officials said that holding it would violate the
    institution’s honor code.

The Young Conservatives of Texas chapter at UT-Austin planned to stage the event on Wednesday. But after conferring with group members, chairman Lorenzo Garcia said that he was concerned for their safety and standing at the university. An honor-code violation could lead to expulsion.

“They are concerned that the university will retaliate against them and
the protest against the event could create a safety issue for our
    volunteers,” he said.

Exclusive: Grosse Pointe cops film, humiliate black men

    by Steve Neavling

Grosse Pointe Park police officers are capturing humiliating photos and videos of black men and texting them to friends and family, the Motor City Muckraker has found.

One of the main culprits is Officer Mike Najm, who texted a picture of a black man in the back of a trailer and typed, “Gotta love the coloreds.” In one video, Najm can be heard telling a mentally ill black man to sing.

Most of the videos are shot from squad cars while African American men are told to sing or “dance like a chimp.” Some of the subjects are even in the back of police cars.

    Sepia♥- — -YA THINK??—

    – – -CBC Chairwoman: Race a Factor in Filibusters – –
    – —Minutes after Senate Republicans blocked confirmation of an African-American judge to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Marcia L. Fudge, D-Ohio, suggested that one of the motivators for the filibuster was his race.

“I certainly think it had some impact,” said Fudge at a press conference flanked by fellow CBC members and Democratic Sens. Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island after Republicans blocked Judge Robert L. Wilkins. “It is clear who they are keeping out of judicial nominations and other positions that we know have to be filled for the government to run effectively.

“You have to ask them what their motives are,” Fudge continued. “All I know is what I see.”

Fudge’s remarks at the press briefing, convened to coincide with the expected doomed Senate vote to invoke cloture on Wilkins’ nomination, 53-38, also came weeks after the Senate filibustered the nomination of Rep. Melvin Watt, D-N.C., to head up the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

“Senate Republicans are playing games with the nomination of my colleague, Mel Watt … likely the only sitting member of Congress in decades to have their confirmation blocked,” Fudge said. “The filibustering of Watt must be addressed.”

Watt, an eleven-term veteran of Congress, is a member of the CBC,
and his colleagues were enthusiastically pushing for his appointment due both to his credentials and to the diversity he would bring to the Obama administration.

President Barack Obama has, in recent months, been been criticized on and off Capitol Hill for not adequately filling high-level offices with candidates who are not white men.

“What is the price we pay for prejudice?” Fudge asked. “All or most of the candidates that are being filibustered are women and minorities.”
