Shooting down firebaggers & teabaggers one truth at a time...
Blessed and Exciting Morning and Day to all the POU family.
Dear Voters in America,…just do the damn thing and bring it home,
from a staunch PBO supporter all the way in sunny Trinidad.
Morning c.o., morning POU
“just do the damn thing”. That’s it, that’s all he asks of us. Much love to all, and blessings.
Good Morning, caribbeanobserver and POU family.
I’m leaving in a few minutes to do my Poll Watcher thing.

Off all days for my stupid computer to act up, why today? not sire now I’ll make the chat room tonight. Good morning folks, go make the pres proud
Back up, Yes! I’m keeping this sucker up all dam day.
Do Americans Actually move to Canada after elections?
Canada was worried that we would after 2004 [or experiencing 2004 after the debacle of 2000] so recalibrated the immigration policies. A family in my neighborhood moved there shortly after September 11 because the woman’s mother was freaking out that something would happen to them in the D.C. area. I know another guy who left after 2004 to get married. Well, he never got married, at least not to that woman, and he’s not returned.

He probably knows that if he wants to come home for Thanksgiving…
Lol, this remind me of my mother’s “When you turn 18, you either vote or get the hell out of my house” speech she started giving us when we were in middle school.

Last night’s rally wasn’t just any rally. It was the last Obama rally. It was an emotional night in Des Moines, Iowa as the President gave his last speech at a campaign rally for himself, ever.
Watch here (Obama starts around 11 minutes):
– – — SNIP – —
Iowa is where it all started for Obama with his 2008 caucus victory, and Monday evening he ended his campaign there. Back in 2008, no one even knew how to pronounce his name.
An estimated 20,000 of the President’s supporters turned out in fired up droves Monday night, braving the cold. The rally was held just yards from from his 2008 campaign headquarters. The sense of having come full circle permeated his remarks. Obama set the tone, asking, “I came back to ask you to help us finish what we’ve started, because this is where our movement for change began.” – –

I just received a text saying: Do not select the button “all democrats” first, because Barack Obama will be excluded from the vote. However, if we choose “Barack Obama” first, and then “all democrats,” he will earn our votes. People are not being told this information.
Is this a Minnesota only thing? Is this even real? I use a paper ballot and vote each race individually. So I’m wondering who sent this. I’ll call the number listed (I don’t recognize it) and report back later.
That’s the rumor that has been going around the past week. Also heard it in 2008 so quien lo sabe.
Its true in North Carolina – that’s the only state which separates the Presidential candidates from the general ballot as far as selecting a straight ticket. You have to vote for the President separately and then select a straight ticket.
NAACP have been debunking this rumour in NC. you can safely pick the straight ticket.
no one knows who is responsible for sending this misinformation out
okay found one of the links debunking the rumour
Just voted! It took almost an hour to get through the line. My mother said it took them all of 5 minutes. I was about to voice some concern that lines were longer on 2008 and she stopped me and said “it’s going to be alright”. So, I’ll just continue praying & waiting for the party to begin tonight. 4 more years!!

– — –Stocks inch higher on Election Day – –
– —- NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — U.S. stocks rose at the open Tuesday as voters headed to the polls on Election Day.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 0.4% and the S&P 500 gained 0.2%. The Nasdaq rose 0.1%.
Stocks are expected to trade in a narrow range as investors await the nation’s election results. The outcome will set the tone for the debate over how to address the so-called “fiscal cliff” of tax hikes and spending cuts that goes into effect in January unless Congress acts. If lawmakers fail to address the fiscal cliff, they risk throwing the U.S. economy back into a recession.

voted!!!!! Got 1 non-voter to vote !!!
I voted as soon as my polling place opened it took 45 minutes. I opened my front door at 6:55am and people were already waiting in their cars. I live across from my polling place and the line snakes around the building. Also people were having trouble with the ballots, they purposely put dems and repubs together. The ballots usually have dems one side and repubs on the other. The poll workers had to stand by the line and explain to people the layout of the ballots. But people were happy and fired up, I saw at least 10 people register to vote. The line is still long and now I see buses dropping off people. Forward!!!
Wow, Alma – front row seats. So exciting – any pictures??
I’ll try and get some later.
Of course, Alma, keep your home anonymous (safety for you).
If I can’t get photos I’ll give an update on voter turnout. So far after the initial morning rush there’s been a steady stream of voters.
happy birthday, lamh!!!
Just watched the Iowa rally. Thank you, as always, GLH.
I. LOVE. THIS. MAN.
Voting time: 1 hr, 22 min.
Now drinking coffee and awaiting breakfast at Cafe Strudel.

I heard the son might get let in but has been permanently consigned to the kiddie table!
A colleague got to work recently–she’s a Northern Virginia voter for whom it took 3 hours to get through the line. She said she thought the polls opened at 7:00 so she arrived at 6:45 to see a huge line.
Happy Birthday to my little sis I love you!!
I voted first thing this morning. Went through the line pretty quickly. Straight ticket all the way, I didn’t vote for one Rethug. If the Rethug was up against a Green Party Candidate, I voted for the Green Party. If they were up against nobody, I voted for nobody.
That’s exactly what I did! LOL There was a GOP tax assessor candidate with no opponent, I left that shit blank.
There was a County precinct Judge and another position with only Rethugs. Left it entirely blank.
I had a friend tell me this weekend that anyone with an “R” next to their name will not get her vote. There are more people like that than we know.
I do believe Chrysler is sending a message to Mitt, and the message is: F U

For the record Gm,Ford & Chrysler via negotiated terms UAW have had election day off for 15yrs! Logically extended to salaried workers too!
So Chrysler got mad enough that it wants the non-union employees to go make a statement at the ballot box too. Mitt, you can leave Cleveland now…Ohio is navy.
Mitt is fucked in Ohio.
Translation: If any one of you votes for Romney you’re fired.
I’m between shifts as a poll watcher. Great opening, very diverse crowd –
this is a small precinct in my neighborhood. It’s really interesting to check
off everything before the poll opens. I voted last Thursday ’cause I was
doing this today. This is very exciting:)
FOUR MORE YEARS.
Hey ya’ll! *waves*
I FINALLY got my cable and innanet back and just in time for Election Day/Night! I was VERY lucky, tho. I never lost power and didn’t have any flooding, so I won’t complain. But still, I missed my PragObot Fam in these final days of the campaign.
I voted this morning! My polling place changed at the last minute, but it went smoothly and I didn’t have to wait long in line. While waiting, everybody was calling and spreading the word about the polling place change. The word was getting out because when I left, more and more people were coming inside to vote. I heard someone say, “I had to get out here and cast my vote!”.
People are not playing this year!
Hey Sepia!!! Happy to see you!
Hey Alma! *hugs*
Sepia is back! Yay!
When you disappeared I worried that you might have gotten hit hard from the storm. Glad to hear you made out okay.
Hey MsKitty! I was thinking about you! How did you make out?
Pretty well, all things considered. On the homefront the lights stayed on and there was no flooding or structural damage. However, this is my first day back at work since the storm because my office building was without power until yesterday afternoon.
Glad to hear that you’re okay! A nor’easter is supposed to hit us tomorrow. Hopefully, it’ll be gentle.
Hey Sepia! You’re just in time for all the shenanigans!
The way things were going, I thought I was gonna miss out on the festivities!

They need to be hyperventilating over True the Vote those are the real thugs, oh wait..they wholeheartedly support that type of thuggery.
I can’t wait for tonight when they have to sit there ass cheeks clenched tighter than a thong on an elephant, scowling like they just got a whiff of their funky upper lip and spit out the words President Barack Obama has won re-election!

REPORT: ‘Voter Fraud’ Protection Group Submitted Forged Documents To Ohio Election Officials
Volunteers with True the Vote, a Tea Party group that claims it is trying to fight voter fraud by challenging the right of voters to vote, may have committed fraud themselves. Plunderbund, an Ohio-based political blog, reported Monday that members of the group attempted to sign up as poll observers in African American-heavy precincts in central Ohio, but may have forged signatures to do so.
While local candidates officials had authorized members of the group to serve as designated observers on forms filed in October, five of the six Franklin County candidates had withdrawn permission to use their signatures prior to the submission of this week’s forms. According to one candidate, the True the Vote volunteers simply “forged” her name onto the document — possibly a 5th degree felony.
They better arrested those True The Vote members before Street Justice gets a hole of them.
“The forms have been rejected unanimously by all members (Rs and Ds) on the board. True the Vote observers will not be allowed in Franklin County polling locations tomorrow.”
It is done. It felt great. This is my first time, since 2000, casting a ballot in person….I have had to do absentee every year since then. So I know my vote definitely counts this time. #Forward

yeah, not buying this video.
okay. more info has come out. the machine in question has been shutdown and pulled
It’s about time. How many votes affected?
they’re not sure.
this is too sloppy for fraud imo, there as so many more efficient ways to steal electronic votes without people finding out unless there’s an audit and investigation. but it does highlight once again that these machines are more than a little problematic. and the refusal by the states and the untrustworthy companies that provide them, to fix them and make them more secure and less susceptible to fraud and tampering.
Not even a hurricane will keep people from voting!

As you can see in the video, the darkie is wildly pacing back and forth in a obviously violent way. Two sweet innocent elderly white woman approach and he gnashes his teeth, appearing to growl “good morning” and then forces the door open and appears to harass them to go inside, clearly scaring them as they walk inside the precinct. Probably too upset to vote now. This is an outrage!

Cecil B Demille is contacting us from the grave. Call Ghost Busters.
Early exit polls and early voting indicate Obama winning by large majority. Mitt Romney will be playing “catch up” all day.
Chris Kluwe, punter for the Minnesota Vikings wrote an article at AskMen.com, saying that he was reluctantly voting for President Obama.
He gave as one of his reasons the President not closing Guantanemo (sp.)
My comment at AskMen.com:
Congress did not appropriate the monies for the transfer of the detainees; the vote was 90-6 against, but Mr. Kluwe is mad at the President.
Typical silly emoprog.
I enthusiastically voted for Barack Obama to be re-elected President of the United States of America.
Mr. Kluwe needs to take and pass a civics class.
We desperately need civics back in the classroom cause I’m tired of silliness like this. My son knew this in hs he actually had an ap justice class in ninth grade. smh
And what always gets me is these same folks give their patron saints Russ Feingold and Bernie Sanders a pass for voting against the closure. The selective outrage is eyeroll inducing.
He should just stick to speaking about gay rights.
They’ve blown his head up so now he thinks he knows every damn thing. I wonder is he going to be the new Choi?
What’s he gonna do, chain himself to the goalposts?
As do many ‘progressives’ I really am sick of this whinny bullshit.
As soon as someone mentions Guantanamo, the conversation is over with me. He’s shown his hand and it’s not a good one. Stop running with MMoore and Complainy Goodman and you might learning something, Kluwe.

Elie Wiesel and Obama Will Co-Author Book
The book, which the two men will resume writing after Tuesday’s presidential election, is “a book of two friends,” Wiesel, a Nobel laureate, told Haaretz.
Haaretz reported that Wiesel and Obama became friends in 2009 when Wiesel joined Obama on a visit to the site of the Buchenwald concentration camp, where Wiesel was interned at the end of World War II following a death march from Auschwitz.
“We talk about philosophy, contemplation, thought, but never about politics. He is a thinking person, a person with depth and intellectual curiosity,” Wiesel said about the dinners that the two occasionally have together.

Talk about desperation; wow:
McMahon dresses her city workers like Murphy supporters
The U.S. Senate campaign of Republican Linda McMahon outfitted its urban poll standers today in purple T-shirts styled after those worn by SEIU, the liberal union that is backing Democrat Chris Murphy.
“It clearly is a rip off of our shirts,” said Paul Filson, the political director of SEIU, which represents many minority health care workers. “It definitely is confusing.”
The shirts are part of an effort by McMahon to blunt the urban vote Murphy needs in Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven, where her workers also have left literature urging a vote for Obama and McMahon.
This woman is crazy.
She is also telling us we can split our vote. Vote for Obama…and her. I don’t think she’s crazy. Mitt trumps her there. She is just cold blooded.
It’s no secret that voter apathy as well as failure to appreciate education (even self-education) runs far more rampant among Democrats than among Republicans. Continuing to embrace both pathologies would be more devastating than an Obama loss!
Linda McMahon is using Michael Steele’s strategy…

Irish Paddy Power Betting Site So Sure Obama Will Win It’s Paying Out a Day Early
DUBLIN, Ireland, Nov. 4 (UPI) — An Irish betting company called Paddy Power is already paying out to gamblers who bet on President Barack Obama to win the U.S. election.
Despite polls showing Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney virtually tied, Paddy Power is paying out a total of more than $800,000 to those who bet on Obama, believing that he will win the race, the company said in a release.
A Paddy Power spokesperson said: “Romney gave it a good shot and is doing well in the popular vote, but we suspect he’s had his moment in the sun and is likely to be remembered more for his legendary gaffes than presidential potential. The overall betting trend has shown one way traffic for Obama and punters seemed to have called it 100 percent correct. Despite Romney appealing to the large evangelical and senior vote, America’s sticking with black and cool.”

Pennsylvania judge stops Republicans from requesting photo ID
A judge in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania has issued an order to “halt electioneering outside a polling location in Homestead.” “Individuals outside the polls are prohibited from questioning, obstructing, interrogating or asking about any form of identification and/demanding any form of identification from any prospective voter,” the order says. Republicans had been asking people outside the polls to show identification. Under the current law, voters will still be asked to present IDs at the polls, but an ID is not required to vote.

– – —REPORTING FROM PHILADELPHIA — Louise Elizabeth Peartree sat in the comfortable living room in a home in a suburb of Philadelphia describing the discomfort that faced African-Americans who sought to vote years ago.
Peartree, who recently celebrated her 101st birthday, explained how she had always possessed a deeply instilled desire to vote, even in the midst of strict segregation she encountered in the South. In her earlier years living in Bellhaven, North Carolina, white officials took pains to discourage Black citizens from voting, she said.
“They didn’t want us to vote in those days,” she said, in an interview with BET.com. Although she was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Peartree spent many years in Bellhaven, in Eastern North Carolina, which was steeped in deep racial segregation in that era.
“But that didn’t mean nothing to me,” she said. “I’ve been voting since I was 21. They didn’t like it. But I voted anyway. My granddaddy had been a slave and, once he was freed, he didn’t take any mess from anyone, Black or white. He farmed his own land, drank and cursed. He taught me not to let people stop me from what I was supposed to do.”
She added, “Everybody didn’t have the nerve to vote. In some cases, the whites would do things to try to keep you from voting. But that didn’t work on me.”

Tea Party poll-watching group shut out in key Ohio county
True the Vote, a controversial Tea Party-backed poll-watching group, will not be operating in pivotal Ohio’s second largest county on Election Day, after it was found by election officials to have submitted irregular signatures in a bid to gain access to the polls.
“True the Vote doesn’t have any observers in Franklin County today,” Zachary Manifold, a member of the county’s Board of Elections told MSNBC.com Tuesday morning.

—— One hundred and fifty-seven members of Princeton University’s faculty and staff have made donations big enough to be disclosed for a presidential candidate. Of those 157, only two gave to Romney. The other 155 gave to Obama. Jay Nordlinger thinks that is a problem with Princeton University rather than an indication that there is something wrong with the Republican Party or Mitt Romney. I can’t imagine why an astrophysicist or Nobel Prize-winning economist wouldn’t want to support the party that denies evolution, plate tectonics, and global warming, and espouses Voodoo Economics. Or just take Jay Nordlinger and the National Review. Their hostility to academics is hardly welcoming.
