What 1988 R&B classic is Nas sampling in his current single, “Bye Baby”?

To get a pass from the “bad chair/Lay-Z-Boy/sofa/sectional/lounge” you must provide the song title and artist first (without using “teh Google” or “teh Wiki”). If no one is able to guess the correct answer I am keeping the pass for myself.

    September 18, 2012

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in 19 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands will be able to strengthen their academic resources, financial management systems, endowment-building capacity, and physical plants as a result of a $227.9 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education today.

New Mexico Governor Breaks With Romney Over 47 Percent Remark | New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) — who Mitt Romney quoted in a speech on Monday — has joined a growing number of Republicans in backing away from the former Massachusetts governor’s claim that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government and won’t vote for Republicans anyway. Asked if she was offended by the remarks, “Martinez said New Mexico has many people who are living at the poverty level and their votes count just as much as anyone else.”

New NBC/WSJ poll: Obama 50% Romney 45% among likely voters

    Mark Murray ‏@mmurraypolitics
Among RVs, it’s Obama 50% Romney 44%, up from the 48%-44% before the political conventions (poll conducted 9/12-9/16)

    Mark Murray ‏@mmurraypolitics
Obama’s approval rating reaches 50% (among RVs) for the first time in poll since March 2012.

    Mark Murray ‏@mmurraypolitics
Fueling Obama’s numbers are more optimistic attitudes about nation’s direction (highest since Sept.09) and economy’s future (Oct.09)

    Mark Murray ‏@mmurraypolitics
And get this: In our poll, Obama and Romney are tied (43%-43%) on which candidate would do better on the economy

    Mark Murray ‏@mmurraypolitics
On other issues, Obama leads on taxes (45%-39%) and Medicare (47%-37%)

    • GN

Those Medicare numbers are lethal for states like Florida. I saw that gallup excitedly announced that PBO’s convention bounce is gone, but this poll shows the opposite.

      • Miranda

In the state polls the bounce is in full effect, and that’s the ones that count. PBO is up in VA, PA, MI and OH even more than he was before the DNC.

Group At Conservative Conference Urge Women To ‘Go Home And Put Some Clothes On’

WASHINGTON, DC — Literature being handed out at the Values Voter Summit on Friday attacks women for being “immodest” and extolled them to “go home and put some clothes on!”

In flyers and brochures on display at Values Voters, the social conservative conference where Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan spoke, an organization called Modesty Matters criticized women for dressing “immodestly” at church, and blamed women for causing men to stare lustfully at them.

Peggy Noonan, former Reagan speechwriter, just posted this to the Wall St. Journal:

    Time for an Intervention.

What should Mitt Romney do now? He should peer deep into the abyss. He should look straight into the heart of darkness where lies a Republican defeat in a year the Republican presidential candidate almost couldn’t lose. He should imagine what it will mean for the country, for a great political philosophy, conservatism, for his party and, last, for himself. He must look down unblinkingly.

And then he needs to snap out of it, and move.

    [snip]

It’s time to admit the Romney campaign is an incompetent one. It’s not big, it’s not brave, it’s not thoughtfully tackling great issues. It’s always been too small for the moment.

    http://blogs.wsj.com/peggynoonan/2012/09/18/time-for-an-intervention/

    *********************

They will absolutely never admit that the folly is not just with Mittens (who I agree, is a mediocre candidate running a terrible campaign). The folly also lies with a far right which has taken over the GOP and gone completely off the rails. A far right for which truth is optional and which resides in a fact-free fairytale of virtous victimhood at the hands of evil liberal socialist mooches. McCain had to cater to them and ended up with Sarah Palin on a disaster ticket. And sane candidates were tossed aside during both the presidential and several senatorial primaries because of them.

Unlike the fantasy which the far right has painted for the Republican party, President Obama is an incredibly strong candidate, and it’s not clear that any of the GOP’s top bench could have really taken him on. But the ascendance of the far right in the GOP and the fact that their presidential candidate now parrots their delusions (all of PBO’s supporters don’t pay taxes–come on, that’s Bachmann craziness) is one of the top problems which the GOP faces at the moment, partially obscured at the moment by a really lackluster presidential candidate in Romney.

    • Worldwatcher7

“He should look straight into the heart of darkness where lies a Republican defeat in a year the Republican presidential candidate almost couldn’t lose.”

This meme is so telling. The Republicans completely miscalculated PBO’s strengths and appeal. This election was never going to be a lock for them, no matter which candidate they put up. PBO is an incredible campaigner, statesman and manager.

I’m hearing similar rumblings from some of them about the debate. They finna get they feelings hurt again.

      • GN

They’re as delusional in their racism as their base. They truly believe that President Obama was just lucky, or just got by. Them underestimating him works for us though. Let them continue to think that just doubling down on far right idiocy is the key, so that they can sink the entire GOP ticket.

        • GOVCHRIS1988

This election will be the reality check for many people. They will have to concede at some point that the black man sitting in the White House is just smarter, better, and more adept then they could ever be. The old ways are dying off and the new ways have come into play now. Like Nina Simone said, Its a new dawn, its a new day, its a new hour. And I’m feeling good.

          • Ebogan63

Just heard Nina doing ‘The Times they are a changin’ last nite.

ETA: And I believe that many are conceding to your way of thinking, GovChris!

          • jds09

What PBO is modeling for the next generation, “the new way” is gonna open a floodgate, like the 4 minute mile. They think their shook now, wait until there is 15 Baracks taking charge. It’s a good time to be alive.

          • AxelFoley

Exactly. For a lot of people, all they’ve known was white culture dominated everyone else.

Didn’t always used to be that way, and like you, I see that kind of thinking going away.

            Permanently.

      • Aquagranny911

The Repugs have been delusional from the very start because they bought into & believed their own inner creation of the Barack who never was.

They have been running against & fighting against a phantom of their own imaginations not the real man who is President Barack Obama.

        • AxelFoley

As Clint Eastwood to vividly showed at the RNC.

      • QOakaJP

When it comes to politics and the media, the mainstream consensus- or the meme, like you say- still seems to be that Barack Obama is just really “lucky.” Not a supremely skilled politician, or a very smart maneuverer, but a “lucky” guy who somehow snuck in to every bit of success he has ever had. They have to believe that- their egos and/or sense of privilege demand it. So each and every time his opponents are reduced to ash before election day, they’re left wondering what went wrong.

‘Why is the other campaign so dysfunctional? Why can’t we shake Obama in the same way? Why are they losing to THAT one?? Celebrity? Voter fraud? Voodoo?’

Of course, the easiest answer is that most candidates are simply not as smart and qualified as ‘popular wisdom ‘ leads people to assume. It takes a special competitor to be able to constantly out-wit and out-pace the competition to the point that they knock themSELVES out. They either haven’t learned that yet, or they’re still in denial.

      • AxelFoley

Right? That shit kills me. “This election was Romney’s to lose.”

        The fuck?

Nah, muhfucka, when you go up against the Champ, you gotta knock the Champ out. RMoney ain’t even landed a solid jab on PBO, while PBO been pepperin’ RMoney’s grill with right jabs (since he’s a Southpaw) setting him up for the left cross that’ll be coming on Nov. 6.

    • Miranda

These folks are in-fucking-sane. This paragraph from Noonan is proof-positive:

I wrote recentlyof an imagined rural Ohio woman sitting on her porch, watching the campaign go by. She’s 60, she identifies as conservative, she likes guns, she thinks the culture has gone crazy. She doesn’t like Obama. Romney looks OK. She’s worried about the national debt and what it will mean to her children. But she’s having a hard time, things are tight for her right now, she’s on partial disability, and her husband is a vet and he gets help, and her mother receives Social Security.
      ________________________

This imagined woman is as stupid as the REAL woman who no doubt exists and thinks this stupidly. Noonan actually thinks this profile is one that works for Romney’s argument? The only reason this imagined rural Ohio woman would not like Obama is the same reason a real one in the same situation wouldn’t….HE’S BLACK. Noonan knows that…this profile is the mooching parasite that Mary Matalin is railing about on CNN right now…and all of the right wing lunatics are shrilling about on twitter right now. They tell this “imagined” woman that its not her, but Bumquisha living in Washington Heights projects in some inner city with 8 kids by baby-daddies and she spends her gubmint check on steak and scrimps and get her nails did every week at the nail shop that’s in-between the soul food restaurant and the check-cashing store on King Blvd- thats who they tell these rural white POOR folks is the cause of all that ails them.

These elitist conservatives tickle me trying to pretend like they give a got damn bout these rural white folks who don’t have two nickels to rub together and depend on all kinds of government aid to exist.

If Sarah had not been plucked our of obscurity and thrust into the national spotlight, I guarantee Levi would have been shacking up with her in Sarah’s house, collecting WIC. food stamps and on their way to a section 8 apartment. And instead of chin implants and DWTS debuts, she would have been on baby #2..you see he already is.

      • AxelFoley

That’s what gets me. When it comes to rich white folks caring about poor white folks, not a single fuck is given. They don’t care about your poor asses, people. You’re only useful to them as attack dogs against POC. They’ve always set you on us while fucking you over at the same time.

Check all those lynching pictures. You think any of the rich white folks were there? Hell no, but they got all them poor rednecks to do their bidding and string up a ni–CLANG! or two.

    • jds09

Ms. Noonan needs an intervention. She probably wrote this while she was drunk. It has the feel of someone at a bar crying into their drink, thinking about the good old days when men were men ( ahem, Reagan) and Republicans were Republicans. “Look into the abyss” “to think is to write”, Peggy snap out of it you are not the ingenue in the Ronnie WH anymore.

    – – -Obama Widens Lead in Polls as Romney Faces Challenges

    – – – – -President Barack Obama has emerged from the conventions of both political parties with a clear lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll has found.

In the poll, Obama led Romney by 50 percent to 45 percent among Americans judged “likely” to vote by Peter Hart and Bill McInturff, who conducted the NBC/WSJ survey.

The Democratic incumbent also reached the 50 percent mark, to Romney’s 44 percent, among the larger group of all registered voters.

The findings come at a challenging time for Romney’s campaign. Two weeks before his first general election debate against Obama, and 7 weeks before Election Day, the former Massachusetts governor faces backbiting within his campaign and finds himself on the defensive over his secretly-taped remarks at a Florida fundraiser. (Read More: Romney Derides Obama Supporters in Damaging Video.)

Obama benefited in the survey from an uptick in optimism over the economy as well as the general state of the country.

Some 39 percent of registered voters said the country is “headed in the right direction,” up from 32 percent before the Republican and Democratic conventions. Some 42 percent predicted the economy will get better in the next year, while just 18 percent predicted it will get worse. In July, voters split evenly on the question. Mary Matalin: Thanks To Romney, We Can Single Out ‘Parasites’

Conservative commentator Mary Matalin hailed Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” line on CNN as good news for Republicans.

“There are makers and takers, there are producers and there are parasites,” she said. “Americans can distinguish between those who have produced and paid in through no fault of their own and because of Obama’s horrible polcies who cannot get a job or are underemployed. That’s what the campaign is about.”

    • GN

lol, active duty military are “parasites”? people receiving modest benefits for food and shelter are “parasites” yet filthy rich Mittens parking millions of dollars in offshore tax shelters is not. the debates are going to be off the chain.

This scum has paid no taxes himself. I just know this deep down in my deepest deep down.

        • GN

Seriously; for him to attack PBO’s supporters as people who contribute nothing and pay no taxes is breathtaking. More lying and complete projection from Mittens. gc’s seeming more prescient by the day re: whether Mittens is a nutjob.

I’m Mitt Romney, bitches, and I’m all you got left.

I mean, Jesus, you mean you people didn’t notice? Back during the primaries, you didn’t catch on to what I was saying? I offered to bet Rick Perry ten thousand clams, right there on stage. Bluffed him over the top because that tangled-tongued sodbuster knew that I could have bought his hometown of Drought Stricken Gulch, or whatever the hell it was, for half that amount. I bought Pawlenty out of the process before those hayshakers in Iowa had finished farting out the rest of their corn dogs from the state fair. Newt tried me on about the Bain stuff, but do you think I was even listening? In fact, do you think I listen to anyone? I don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t… speak… Money, and I don’t have to, because, well:

I’m Mitt Romney, bitches, and I’m all you got left.

I’m the end product, baby. This is where your party’s been heading for 30 years. Who do you think bankrolled Reagan? People who spoke Money, that’s who. You put a party together made up of snakehandlers, and economic alchemists, and neocon grifters, and get a whole bunch of people like me, people who speak Money, to foot all the bills, and who do you think is going to end up on top? Sooner or later, you all have to pay the piper, and the piper is me. I am always the piper, because I always get paid, because, well:

I’m Mitt Romney, bitches, and I’m all you got left.

Got a little secret for you all. I don’t care if I win. I never did. Oh, I want the job because I’m entitled to it. It’s the inexorable next step in my golden existence. But it’s not like I actually wanted to do the job. It was a prize, something to hang over one of my mantlepieces or another. But, you know what happens the day after I lose to Obama? A whole bunch of you start typing your resumes, and writing your essays about how I fked the whole thing up six ways from Sunday, and Whither The Conservative Movement? and all that malarkey. Maybe I take some folks from Congress down with me, and they all go to the Fox studios and run around the set of Hannity’s program until the music stops, and one of them doesn’t find a chair, and that one has to go home and do morning drive in East Jesus, Florida.

The first question to Romney on the complete video at Mother Jones is about foreign policy. Questioner seems to be saying that Obama may find himself in a foreign policy crisis as Carter did in 1980, and if so Romney could be able to take advantage of Obama’s weakness. Romney responds that indeed if some kind of disaster like the Iran hostage crisis does arise then he will do his best to seize on it:

And yet in that election, the Jimmy Carter election, the fact that we had hostages in Iran, I mean that was all we talked about. And we had the two helicopters crash in the desert, that’s, that was the focus, so him solving that made all the difference in the world. I’m afraid today if you simply got Iran agree to stand down from nuclear weapons they’d go wholly…you know, but…By the way, if something of that nature presents itself, I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity.

Is it me or is Romney not spending all of the bazillions of dollars he has from these super pacs? I sweart I see more ads of PBO than I see of Romney. I do live in the Cleveland TV market, maybe that is the PBO strategy.

Has anyone seen any polls showing the % of the AA Romney support.

    • Miranda

I’m not seeing a lot of Romney ads either, I see more Obama ads and I’m in Georgia. I’m wondering exactly where the SuperPac money is going because I’m not hearing that the down ticket races are being affected because of the Super Pac money either. I’ve suspected that they’ve been lying about the money they raised, maybe I’m right.

      • trose1

I am seeing alot of attack ads on Sherrod Brown. U can tell Mandell has money.
Romney is a liar and will do, say anything to win. I suspect they are lying. Early voting is starting and we have yet to see this onslaught of commercials.
GOP were so sure they would win with an inferior crazed candidate.
Stealing the election at the polls is the only way to win at this point.

        • GN

I wonder if the GOP money ppl haven’t quietly dropped Romney and are hunkering down on the Senate and House races…what you report would comport with that strategy.

          • trose1

I have been home from work for a couple of hours and have yet to see one Romney Ad. I have seen several PBO,Sherrod Brown, and Josh Mandel Ads.

I would so wish but I think the goatfiggers are just in the process of re-grouping & we will be seeing some ugly local ads.

Philly is my home TV market and the only campaign commercials I’ve seen lately is for Tom Smith, who is running against Bob Casey, Jr. for the Senate seat. I haven’t seen any Casey ads though, so I wonder what’s up with that. Maybe Casey has enough of a lead that he can keep his powder dry for now.

          • vulcan_girl

The ads here in Mike Pence Land are OFA/Obama PACs and the senate race, Mourdock vs Donnelly. The anti-Donnelly one calls Joe Donnelly ‘Obama Joe’, even though he’s a Blue Dog. I saw that one 3 or 4 times in two hours.

      • Aquagranny911

I think their money is going to the down races. We have to work our butts off for our local candidates.

        • Miranda

I think that’s the case, especially in Wisconsin and Virginia.

      • Town

It’s going to Virginia where there’s an anti-Obama ad every single minute.

        • AxelFoley

I wonder if that’s in the Richmond area. Here in Hampton Roads, I see way more Obama ads than RMoney ads.

Now, I’ve seen more George Allen ads than Tim Kaine ads. We definitely gotta beat Allen’s racist ass. That sumamabitch is like a vampire–fucker just won’t go away. Can’t he just go to Alabama or Mississippi?

          • TyrenM

—–Conservative pundit Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, ripped Mitt Romney for his 47 percent of Americans are dependent on the government and will vote for President Obama, saying his comments are “arrogant and stupid.”

It’s worth recalling that a good chunk of the 47 percent who don’t pay income taxes are Romney supporters—especially of course seniors (who might well “believe they are entitled to heath care,” a position Romney agrees with), as well as many lower-income Americans (including men and women serving in the military) who think conservative policies are better for the country even if they’re not getting a tax cut under the Romney plan. So Romney seems to have contempt not just for the Democrats who oppose him, but for tens of millions who intend to vote for him.</b

A Mood of Gloom Afflicts the Romney Campaign

A palpably gloomy and openly frustrated mood has begun to envelop Mr. Romney’s campaign for president. Well practiced in the art of lurching from public relations crisis to public relations crisis, his team seemed to reach its limit as it digested a ubiquitous set of video clips that showed their boss candidly describing nearly half of the country’s population as government-dependent “victims,” and saying that he would “kick the ball down the road” on the biggest foreign policy challenge of the past few decades, the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

Grim-faced aides acknowledged that it was an unusually dark moment, made worse by the self-inflicted, seemingly avoidable nature of the wound. In low-volume, out-of-the-way conversations, they are now wondering whether victory is still possible and whether they are entering McCain-Palin ticket territory.

A flustered adviser, describing the mood, said that the campaign was turning into a vulgar, unprintable phrase.

A Mood of Gloom Afflicts the Romney Campaign
    By MICHAEL BARBARO

8:42 p.m. | Updated SALT LAKE CITY – Mitt Romney’s traveling press secretary walked to the back of the candidate’s plane midflight on Tuesday and teasingly asked a pair of journalists in an exit row if they were “willing and able to assist in case of an emergency.”

Under the circumstances, it was hard to tell whether it was a question or a request.

A palpably gloomy and openly frustrated mood has begun to creep into Mr.

That was the most berserk article I have ever read. I mean, the Romney camp is so…….out there. Really, they dug up a video from friggin 1998 when Barack Obama was a state senator to a PUBLIC FORUM which I believe even a C-Span search could have found to offset the shit he said on a LONG, unspliced video and they believe that makes it better. I mean, they are so desperate for good news, they look to Drudge, DRUDGE!, for comfort on polls. I don’t think I have ever seen a campaign so much in a right wing bubble as this one. It seems like the Romney camp says, “Don’t worry, we’ll just watch FOX News or listen to Rush Limbaugh and all will be well.” They have written off every other nonpartisan endeavor because they JUST. CAN’T. HANDLE.THIS.

I bet after the first debate, where Barack Obama nails his ass to the wall, Mitt Romney will just look at Drudge, where they said he won, and he will be ok. I mean, this is the type of person that is the Republican nominee for president of the United States. Its remarkable.

Our dog had to have dental surgery so we had to stop until he felt better. He’s doing much better now, also my baby girl is home for a week. So I’m enjoying her while she’s here, she’s headed for Chicago next week for her second round of interning.

This was so hard for me, a person who often cooks for lots of hungry people. My new kitchen is so much better with all my pans in reach.

    And another thing….

I’m getting a little weary of this false dichotomy (and false choice) between a “government-dominated society” (a phrase with no meaning whatsoever) and one where “free people can pursue their dreams,” another hunk of vacuous pablum.

There’s nothing “government-dominated” about the U.S. in 2012, the Obama presidency or Obama’s own vision that is any more “government-dominated” than any other time in recent history. Indeed, when was America more “government-dominated” than in the 1950s, which so many GOP fans seem to want to go back to? When were we more “government-dominated” than from 2002-2008, with two wars and a PATRIOT Act going on? Neither is anyone today any less “free” to “pursue their dreams” of wealth and power than they have been since WWII. What, does simply, merely having laws in this country now suddenly make it “government-dominated”? This dichotomy, and each characterization therewithin, is pure bullshit.

The fact is we can have, do have, have always had, and will always have, both. This is not a choice between “government” and “freedom” (or “free enterprise”) because you can’t have the latter without the former. This is a choice between a lawful society and a lawless one. Between a “free enterprise system” where people can “pursue their dreams” and “achieve success” lawfully, and a “free enterprise system” indistinguishable from organized crime. Between a “free enterprise system” where everyone who participates in it has rights and responsibilities, and a “free enterprise system” where the owners have all the rights and the workers have all the responsibilities. One where people are “free” to “pursue their dreams” without being abused, exploited, discriminated against, put in danger, maimed, poisoned or killed, and one where the owners are free to abuse, exploit, discriminate, endanger, maim, poison and kill at their whim and pleasure. A modern first-world nation that sees to its collective needs, or a third-world banana republic where a handful of plutocrats own everyone and everything. – – –

Ohhh look what I found on twiiter. As long as it is not one of those parody accounts. Does this seem logical?

Before the Republican National Convention, Mitt Romney was the Republican nominee in all but name. By law, however, he could only spend primary donations until he officially became nominee. To increase cash flow during the interregnum, the Romney campaign borrowed $20 million.

“We realized that we could collateralize this debt with $20 million of general-election funds that were already sitting in our bank account,” a senior Romney aide says, speaking exclusively with National Review Online.

“This is permitted by Federal Election Commission rules,” the aide explains. “In the past, the FEC has specifically contemplated candidates putting up their public financing payments as collateral.” Since Romney is not taking public funds, his finance team found another option.

Obama Campaign Advertises in Electronic Arts Games, But Will It Make a Difference?

Campaign finance and advertising have been a heated subject of discussion down the stretch of this fall’s presidential election, particularly the role of Super PACS in both the contest between President Obama and Mitt Romney and down ballot races. But though it’s unlikely to change the game entirely, the Obama campaign is going back to a kind of advertising it pioneered in 2008: billboards within Electronic Arts campaigns. Obama was the first candidate to advertise in video games in that race, which is all well and good. But while it’s easier to report on who’s spending what, and on what kinds of advertising, the larger question with this, and with the rest of the campaign advertising we’re awash in, is whether it makes a difference.

The Obama campaign’s decision to spend money on advertising in EA games may be about generating impressions and reminding folks to step away from the console on or before November 6 (the 2008 ads reminded players that early voting had started, among other messages). But it’s also a way of letting a constituency know that they’re on the campaign’s mind. It’s become all too easy for advertisers, political and otherwise, to gin up stories about spots that they have no intention of actually running, or no funds to actually air. But to get attention to your advertising in a sector of the media that isn’t dedicating a lot of space to campaign coverage is a clever trick. And that coverage, more so than the ads themselves, may be worth the money.

Republicans: Bad gets worse for Romney

The latest heartburn for these insiders is Romney’s refusal to back down from his statement that nearly half of Americans believe they are victims dependent upon government.

Obama’s NC registration effort has new technology

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama plans to speak Wednesday at two North Carolina college campuses to get students fired up about her husband’s re-election bid and to urge them to register their friends to vote.

The Obama campaign is taking voter registration to a new level of technological savvy. Potential registrants in North Carolina and 10 other states can go to the campaign’s web site and sign their names to a registration form remotely using their smartphone or tablet.

Only one thing left for Romney to do: Say he was brainwashed.

    • Tafr

LOL Randi Rhodes made a good argument today. She said if Romney would just admit he is a failure and leave the race people would probably respect him. However, we know that will never happen because he has no spine. As Miss Ann said it is their turn.

      • AxelFoley

Yeah, it’s their turn to catch a Barack beatdown.

    • Aquagranny911

Sorry. No can do because first you actually must have a brain that can be washed. That is all.

These are coming out everywhere tonight:

GOP frets Romney is blowing race

Republicans are worried that Mitt Romney is blowing a presidential race he should be winning, following publication of his comment that 47 percent of Americans pay no income tax and are dependent on the government.

Two GOP Senate candidates distanced themselves Tuesday from the remarks, revealed in a leaked video from a private fundraiser. And Republican strategists warned that the candidate’s words could fire up the Democratic base while alienating independent voters.

    *******************************

I love this comment to the article:

“I’ve never known a working class person to begrudge a
helping hand to anyone. They are the generous people. I went to work at
    sixteen. I”m still working at 55. I’ll be working until I’m 67. I was
taught to help others. I know kids and elderly don’t pay taxes. The vets
who came back with no legs are going to get their lifestyle maintained by me.
God bless them. I don’t look at any of those people as cheaters. Some of you
see everything as ugly. You don’t think before you emote. Start engaging your brain.
Add up the percentage of different groups that wouldn’t be working and you’ll
get about 47%. I say grow up and love your country and its elderly and
children. You are imagining all these cheaters because you are unhappy people.”

    Indeed!

    – — –Did Secret Recording Of Romney Fundraiser Break Florida Wiretap Law? – –

    – – – –The secret tape recording – was it illegal? Maybe yes (if they find who did it). But there are some intriguing defenses for the person who made the tape of Mitt Romney saying that 47 percent of Americans are “dependent upon government” and see themselves as “victims.”

At first read, the Florida wiretap law looks like it applies. Florida prohibits “interception” of oral communications, including a tape recording in person. Florida also requires consent from all parties before an oral communication can be recorded. Mitt Romney didn’t consent to the taping. So the person who made the tape could face criminal charges, likely a misdemeanor for a first offense.

But the unknown person who made the tape has at least three defenses. The first two defenses depend on interpreting Florida’s Section 934.02:

    – —SNIP– –

The First Amendment case law provides excellent protection for Mother Jones, who released the video. In the 2000 Bartnicki case, the Supreme Court held that the First Amendment protects the disclosure of illegally intercepted communications by a radio station and newspapers who did not participate in the illegal interception.

    – – -Charlie Rangel Calls Romney’s 47% Rant ‘Ridiculous,’ Untrue and Amoral – —

    – –Congressman Charles Rangel is the latest Democrat to pile on Mitt Romney after Mother Jones released a blockbuster secret video of one of the Republican candidate’s fundraisers in which he characterized President Barack Obama’s supporters as the “forty seven percent of Americans” who “pay no income tax,” suggested he’d have an easier chance of winning the White House if he was Mexican and called peace between Israelis and Palestinians “almost unthinkable,” among other controversial remarks.

Mr. Rangel issued a statement slamming Mr. Romney’s comments this afternoon describing them as “ridiculous,” far from the truth and amoral considering Mr. Romney’s own income tax situation.

“Nothing can be further from the truth than Gov. Romney’s ridiculous remarks that nearly half of American people do not pay federal income taxes, they pay other federal and state taxes,” Mr. Rangel said. “The 47 percent figure cited by the Republican presidential candidate covers only the federal income tax and ignores the fact that people may pay a higher percentage of their income on a wide variety of taxes.”

According to Mr. Rangel, “everyone pays taxes.”

Sadly, this Rosa Brooks who’s been making her rounds attacking President Obama for not appointing the woman that would have been Ms Brooks ticket to relevance and access to power, is precisely why I’m glad Michelle Flournoy did not get the Defense job.

I’m so sick of all these self-serving, self-promoting assholes like Rosa Brooks who are hiding their anger that THEIR own personal ambitions were thwarted and her hopes of being some high profile counsel to the Secretary of Defense shut down, by running around to every media spot she can find to tout the greatness of Michelle Flournoy.

This is not at all about Michelle Flournoy, but everything to do with Rosa Brooks’ very own crushed personal ambitions.

What a fucking spiteful, petty liar.

As much as I like Michelle Flournoy, if Rosa Brooks is the sort of people she surrounds herself with, then thank God she wasn’t offered the gig. The sort of people one surrounds themselves with is very telling.

And in this instance, our Defense agenda is too important to gamble with the vicious tantrums of a staffer who has no qualms publicly attacking and belittling her boss’s boss – the President, at the drop of a hat.

We don’t need another version of the anti-President Obama staff-dom at the Defense department as we just had at the State Department for 4 years.

Rosa Brooks has shown such an incredible lack of judgement and maturity and is so pathetic, spiteful and short-sighted with her media tantrums and outbursts – and this is who Michelle Flournoy relied on for counsel?

If I were Michelle Flournoy I’d beg Rosa Brooks to stop. She’s not only completely made an arse of herself and destroyed whatever integrity or professionalism she ever possessed, but she’s quickly dragging down Michelle Flornoy with her.

Who knew that grown women were this silly and obnoxious when they don’t get what they want or think they’re entitled to.

For all the talk about female representation in the Administration, I’d be the first to say – not if they come in the form of this Rosa Brooks woman or those who hire people like her.

The President has a hard enough road ahead dealing with the mad republicans and the ridiculous left, the last thing he or America needs is the petty, vindictive, tantrum-throwing of selfish, self-serving brats like Rosa Brooks every time their personal needs and ambitions aren’t met.

The most important criteria President Obama needs to consider when filling any position as far as I’m concerned is – drama-free professionalism.

Actually, I’m one of those women (probably because I’ve always worked in an all male industry) who has absolutely no interest in this phony “fight for adversity – specifically women”.

I’ve hardly been impressed with the few I’ve happened into professionally along the way.

Actually contrary to conventional wisdom, I don’t long for a female president – or female anything.

I’ve always just wanted – and root for the best person always.
