Jon Karl Asks White House Spokesman ‘Is There Anyone the President Wouldn’t Shake Hands With?’
    by Tommy Christopher | 2:46 pm, December 11th, 2013

…Karl also asked Earnest for his reaction to Sen. McCain’s remarks,
and other criticism. “People say that the President shouldn’t have
given Castro the opportunity to have a handshake with the leader of the
    United States,” Karl said.

Earnest noted, again, that the President shook hands with everyone
who was on the stage, and said that it was a “dangerous and unwise thing to do in public” to attempt to “draw connections between recent
political events and the terrible reign of Adolph Hitler,” adding that there used to be a principle that “partisan politics stop at the water’s edge, and it’s unfortunate that we did see a number of Republicans, yesterday, who criticized the President for a handshake at Nelson Mandela’s funeral.”

“Is there anybody the President would not…is there any world leader
the President would not shake hands with?” Karl began. “I mean, if Assad had been on that stage, if Kim Jong-Un had been on that stage?” he continued. “I mean I’m trying to gauge the principal, he shook hands with everybody on the stage. I mean, is there any… anybody he wouldn’t?”

Earnest declined to entertain the “difficult hypothetical.”

So ok. I started my new job in January. Since then, there has been 5 people who have resigned or quit, 2 people who have either gone from day to night or from FT to PRN. Of the 5 people who resigned, 1 was mysteriously let go (I still don’t know why) 2 moved on to other jobs (1 completely out of the lab environment and another to another state) and 2 two latest ones are both getting jobs closer to home. All 5 of the people who left have all had issues and complaints about the current supervisory group in our lab.

It’s got me feeling some kinda way, and it aint a good way.

    • TyrenM

Did you apply for that job in NO?

      • lamh36

yes sir I did. I did ask for the $2 more than I currently earn.

Since I know that company are low-ballers. I suspect that they will keep the position open to see if they can get someone with the experience they want, and who will accept less.

So I fully expect there is to a long wait for this one.

Jury finds David Warren not guilty in retrial
By Travers Mackel 5:54 PM CST Dec 11, 2013

NEW ORLEANS —After two days of deliberations, 12 jurors reached a verdict in the retrial of former New Orleans police officer David Warren.

The jury found Warren not guilty on charges of violating Henry Glover’s civil rights and using a weapon in a violent crime.

The jury had been initially at a standstill and Federal Judge Lance Africk ordered the jurors to return to deliberations and said they have
    obligation to go back.

The jury had been deliberating for a second day. Deliberations began about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Warren, who was guarding a police substation from a second-floor balcony, testified Monday that he feared for his life when he shot Henry Glover because he thought he saw a gun in Glover’s hand. It was the second time Warren has tried to explain why he fired at 31-year-old Glover less than a week after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in 2005.

  • lamh36

Alright, so let’s get into these R&B nominees.

So there are like 5 big categories for R&B. Only maybe one of the five is actually televised. So I’m not sure which category (if any) will be televised so I’m just do em all. So this is the first time that I’m not really sure about the R&B categories. I know the artist, but I’ll admit, I just don’t think some of the R&B nomnees are as deserving as the other, but meh, I’m not a voter, so I’m just go with who I like and my gut.

    First: BEST R&B ALBUM:

So I like R&B music, but I freely admit that I really have no skin in the game in this category. I love all the artist, but IMHO, for at least 3 of em, I would say it’s not even their BEST album. If I had to chose, I’d chose Chrisette Michele, one cause I love CM, two cause IMHO, Girl On Fire is Alicia Key’s WEAKEST album to date and the only saving grace is the Maxwell collabo “Fire We Make” (and actually he could have done it without her). Faith Evans and John Legend both have had BETTER albums. Let’s not even talk about TGT. R&B “Supergroups” should have ended with LSG, I’m just sayin’. My pick: Chrisette Michele. My sister Robin’s pick…same.

    What’s your pick POU?

    1. R&B Divas – Faith Evans
    2. Girl On Fire – Alicia Keys
    3. Love In The Future – John Legend
    4. Better – Chrisette Michele
    5. Three Kings- TGT

    • sagittarius

    • rikyrah

      Chrisette Michele

    • TyrenM

Chrisette or Faith. Women’s vote will be split so John will win.

  • lamh36

Ok, so I’ll be honest, 2 of the nominees I’ve never even heard of (sorry Salaam Remi and Mack Wilds ). So my money is on one of the 3 lady nominees. Of the 3 I’d put even money on Tamar or Fantasia. If I had my way, Fantasia all the way for “Lose to Win” alone, but “Without Me” is a banga, but Tamar’s “Love and War” has been everywhere. As for Rihanna’s “Unapologetic”, somebody tell me 1 song other than “Pour It Up” and “Stay” on that album that was even worth listening to (besides Ri-Ri should thank each and every producer on every album she’s ever released. She is def a case where the hits are what sells the album, not the singin). My personal pick: Fanny all the way…but I’d be okay with Tamar too. What’s your pick?

Love And War – Tamar Braxton

Side Effects Of You – Fantasia

One: In The Chamber – Salaam Remi

    Unapologetic – Rihanna

New York: A Love Story – Mack Wilds

Ok, final category in R&B is BEST R&B SONG. This one is a hard one. It’s another epic showdown between Fantasia and Tamar Braxton. Unlike other categories, I have actually heard every song in this category. Once again it comes down to the lady nominees. It’s gotta be Tamar or Fantasia. Now IMHO, “Lose To Win” is the better song, but “Without You” is a jam. So for that reason, I’d give Tamar Braxton the edge on this one. My pic: Fantasia, but I’m betting on Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War”.

Best Of Me Anthony Hamilton & Jairus Mozee, songwriters (Anthony Hamilton)

Love And War – Tamar Braxton, Darhyl Camper, Jr., LaShawn Daniels & Makeba Riddick, songwriters (Tamar Braxton)

The book Affluenza: The All-Consuming Epidemic defines it as “a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more”.[1]

Proponents of the term consider that the prizing of endless increasesin material wealth may lead to feelings of worthlessness and dissatisfaction rather than experiences of a ‘better life’, and that these symptoms may be usefully captured with the metaphor of a disease.
They claim some or even many of those who become wealthy will find the economic success leaving them unfulfilled and hungry only for more wealth, finding that they are unable to get pleasure from the things they buy and that increasingly material things may come to dominate their time and thoughts to the detriment of personal relationships and to feelings of happiness.[2]

    POU FAM♥ – –UPDATE: – — RALLY 4 Kendrick Johnson: — -RIHEP♥– – — Rally For Valdosta Teen Kendrick Johnson Draws Hundreds to Georgia State Capitol – - –
    - – -Jacquelyn and Kenneth Johnson say they have sat on the street corner of the Lowndes County Courthouse in Valdosta every day for months. They sit silently holding signs that ask passersby “Please Help Us Find Out Who Murdered Our Child.” On Wednesday at a rally on the front steps of the Georgia State Capitol, they were joined by a cadre of activists, preachers and politicians to demand an investigation.

While Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Joseph Lowery, who were slated to address the demonstrators, never spoke, cameras rolled as speakers including BET’s Jeff Johnson, MSNBC’s Goldie Taylor, Martin Luther King III and more than a dozen others called for a full investigation into the death of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson, who was found dead inside of a gym mat at Lowndes High School in Valdosta.

“I got off the plane from Baltimore this morning because I’m a
father,” said Jeff Johnson. “So often we have mothers that step up…and just like there are mothers, there are fathers who have had enough, fathers who have had enough of black-on-black crime, of black-on-black brutality. But they have had more than enough of seeing black boys in places where they have been brutalized by people who don’t look like them, who want to shove it under the rug.”

Jeff Johnson also invoked the words of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. that “an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.”

When King’s son, Martin Luther King III, spoke he also alluded to the words of his father as well as the legacy of recently deceased South African President Nelson Mandela.

The other cable news networks didn’t necessarily do a much better

I suppose that was the only topic they could safely view through a prism of “both sides” and debate it ad nauseam. – -

    – - -Thanks To Obamacare, The Number Of Women Who Aren’t Charged For Birth Control Has Jumped 25 Percent- – -

    – - —Under Obamacare, privately insured women are increasingly accessing contraceptive services without paying an additional co-pay, according to a new study from the Guttmacher Institute. The study’s authors point out that theirdata proves there’s a real demand for affordable birth control among U.S. women.

The researchers surveyed data from women between the ages of 18 and 39, comparing the co-pays they paid for their birth control method before and after Obamacare’s contraceptive coverage requirement took effect for most insurance plans. Between those two time periods, they saw a sharp increasein the number of women who had no out-of-pocket costs for their birth control pills, jumping from just 15 percent to 40 percent. There was a similar increase among women using the vaginal ring, from 23 percent to 52 percent:

NOW: – –African-Americans Drew Strength from Mandela to Fight Racism in U.S. — -:>)
    – — – -With formal memorial ceremonies underway in South Africa this week, African-Americans from all walks of life continued to recall the monumental legacy of former President Nelson Mandela. In interviews, many credited him for their strength amidst U. S. racial struggles. – - -

“The more I learned about Mr. Mandela, the more determined I became to fightlingering injustice here at home,” said attorney Janice Mathis of Atlanta. “As a young lawyer I became more active. I worked for the ERA, registered voters, was elected as a delegate to the DNC. It was during the anti-apartheid campaign that I learned the importance of corporate social responsibility. Today I am more conscious of the global implications of public policy because of the ANC liberation movement. Wemust be careful to heed Mr. Mandela’s edict that the liberation of South Africa came as the result of decades of struggle by thousands of committed people.” — –
    – - -SNIP – - -

Kim Burrell, 50, a bank teller in New York, said Mandela’s 27-year imprisonment made her more conscious of inequities here at home.
