Rev. Lowery – “We Aint Going Back”

  • lamh36

SMDH. I honestly didn’t expect the white blogs that are not news blogs to post threads about the March today, so seeing belated threads from places like BJ are no surprise to me.

But I did at least expect something from Booman Tribune, an open thread or something, but nope, All day every post on BT has been on Syria, which is fine, but then he finally posted a thread about MLK, but it’s not on the March on Washington, but on another speech given by MLK on of course, Vietnam, as a way to continue on the Syria trip he ‘s been on all day.

Ugh, am I wrong for being perturbed that instead of posting on the anniversary, he instead posted on the other speech from November 1967.

SMDH…Maybe I’m just being too senisitive.

    • TyrenM

Not at all. Expose fuckery wherever it exists.

    • itgurl_29

you’re not being too sensitive. They simply do not give a damn about black people. I don’t’ care how they vote, these far left loons are not our allies.

      • Miranda

Yet you have black folks running behind them and parroting every dumb ass meme that come outta these emoprogs mouths.

    • qosine

They’re stuck back in the past. They really have nothing
      of interest to offer.

    • Kennymack1971

No you’re not. This is how these White Progs roll. I guess I don’t have high expectations for them anymore (if I ever really did). They’re only allies when it’s convenient and have no real respect for our struggle and our issues. That may sound harsh and I’m sorry but these people have been pissing me off all week. I’m going to leave it there for now.

      • http://pragmaticobotsunite.blogspot.com/ Sepia

EmoProgs really showed their asses with that #IHaveADrone bs. They have absolutely no respect for Black people.

        • Kennymack1971

I saw that on Twitter…and I’ve been sitting on a profanity laced tirade ever since..I’m trying to focus on the positives from today but man…it’s hard. They couldn’t even chill for one day… one freaking day..

        • malletgirl02

They had already shown their asses when they were going that “Obama=Zimmerman” crap over drones.

        • isonprize

What I don’t get is that drones save the lives of American soldiers. What exactly do they want? The world is not a nice place. True, we, as a country, have not always acted as good stewards, but damn, Pres Obama has got us OUT of wars, and brought soldiers home.

Drones save American lives. What more do these Emobastards want???

          • crazycanuck

They want the BLACK President out of the Whitehouse

          • isonprize

            well, yeah. There is that…

          • nathkatun7

Too bad! He is going no where. They have to wait for three more years. Once we have another white person back in “their Whitehouse,” I for one will make sure to constantly remind them how crappy they treated the first Black President.

      • jziglar

It’s always something with these people. The crazy comparisons (Iraq, Vietnam = Syria), complaints about drones against terrorists, whining about speculation around Larry Summers, XL pipeline, and on and on and on. It’s like these people live to create controversy when there is none. I’m just tired of hearing it.

    • rikyrah

Not being too sensitive. I’m not happy about Syria, but I don’t obsess over it

Rumsfeld Says Obama Hasn’t Justified Syria Attack

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, “who ushered the U.S. into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2001 and 2003, said the Obama administration has not clearly justified an attack on Syria,” The Hill reports.

Said Rumsfeld: “One thing that is very interesting, it seems to me, is that there really hasn’t been any indication from the administration as to what our national interest is with respect to this particular situation.”

Republicans Propose To Deny Obamacare Subsidies For Lawmakers, Top Gov’t Officials

[....] Announced Tuesday by Sens. Mike Enzi (R-WY) and David Vitter (R-LA), the bill seeks to partially reverse the Office of Personnel and Management’s recent ruling by forcing members of Congress to pay for the full cost of their health care under Obamacare’s market exchanges when they take effect Jan. 1, 2014.[....]

Most lawmakers and officials would be ineligible for subsidies anyway, which max out at 400 percent of the poverty line, but some of them, who are less highly paid and have big families, would be affected. Notably, the Enzi-Vitter legislation would not strip subsidies for congressional staff, who are also required to purchase insurance under Obamacare’s exchanges, according to a summary of the bill.[....]

        • TyrenM

Half that bullshit on the stage after the speeches… shake President Obama’s hand, wanna hug up on Bill.

        • jziglar

All the talk about black unemployment and black issues will be pushed to the side once Obama leaves office. They only bring it up in a way to attack Obama after the great recession.

        • edp4bho

Speaking of Mz. Bilary, where was she during all the commemorating? For her to be not seen is not conducive to a bid for office asking for our help, n’est ce pas?

        • nathkatun7

Yep! Why some of them still insist on calling Bill Clinton as the first Black President. They will all be lining up to convince Black folks that Hillary is the best thing since sliced bread! Never mind the fact that President Obama rescued her by appointing her Secretary of State. Otherwise, she would just be one of the 100 U.S. Senators with nothing to show.

It’s really sad to see many blacks in academia and Black elected officials mistreat the first, (who knows he may be the only one for a very long time) African American President. Thankfully, the masses of Black people, who are not out to prove anything to white people, have remained consistent in having the President’s back.

      • qosine

Don’t they pay attention to the major accomplishments of AG Holder? The crack/cocaine disparity has already been dealt with, too.

        • crazycanuck

Don’t they pay attention to the major accomplishments of AG Holder?

THAT WOULD BE A BIG FAT NO

        • jziglar

I know ! I was like Have you heard of the fair sentencing Act ? And the recent action on mandatory minimums and two bills that address criminal justice that have bipartisan support ?

It’s like these Obama critics hold him to standards that no President has faced, and when he does something good they pretend it didn’t happen. I’m done with these losers.

          • nathkatun7

            “I’m done with these losers.”

I am too Jziglar! Most of them are nothing but educated fools. Many of them worshiped Bill Clinton, but under his watch, the incarceration of black people set a record.

Marcus Garvey was right, Black people are their own greatest enemy! Instead of having the President’s back who is under siege by these extreme right wing nuts, all they do is tear him down at every opportunity knowing fully well that they, unlike him, can’t be held accountable for what they say and do. It’s as if they haven’t been paying attention to what the Republicans have been doing to obstract everything he tries to do.

I have a feeling all these Black haters of President Obama would prefer to see a white President in the White House. Guess what?

They will have their wish in three years. All I am focused on right now is how we can elect a congress in 2014 that would help the President carry out his agenda.

Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton has been in Congress for decades, yet D.C. is still not a state. Exactly what does she have to show for her decades in Congress? As for Fredrick Harris from Columbia University and Peniel Joseph from Tufts University, I will take them seriously when I see what they’ve personally done to assist their Ivory towers to hire more Black folks and enroll more Black students.

For me the only academic that had my highest respect was the late Derrick Bell. Here was a man who was willing to back his talk with action so as to advance the lives of other Black people. All these other professors
can go to the t.v. and criticize the President, but as my grandmother used to say, Talk is cheap!

          • ranger11

Did you see that interview? I had to turn it off. Why can’t people be positive? This is an event that occurred fifty years ago. Why can’t they analyze it in those terms and not always bring it back to their complaints of the present day? The negativity was a real surprise and gut-punch to me. It’s always about them and their whiny critiques.

          • nathkatun7

Yes I finally saw the clip of the LO interview with Ms Holmes-Norton. It’s really sad that she was so negative about the President. Then I remembered how she was such a big defender of Bill Clinton.

          • Scopedog

Sad but very true. President Obama has a list of achievements that would make anyone proud, but for some, it’s not enough. I suppose they’re waiting for him to walk on water and snap his fingers and all the problems of the world will disappear…but I suspect that they’ll still complain. Oh well.

Today, we celebrate a day in history. Tomorrow on a more personal note, we in NOLA remember that 8 years ago tomorrow, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Southeast Louisiana, and the lives of people in my hometown and others along the gulf coast have never been the same since.

Hurricane Katrina eight years later, a statistical snapshot of the New Orleans area

Hurricane Katrina taught us lessons in dealing with loss: Jarvis DeBerry

I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that Hurricane Katrina changed the trajectory of my life more than any other thing that has happened in my 36 years. Poll Shows de Blasio With Big Lead

After months in which his campaign struggled to find its footing,Bill de Blasio is now the front-runner in the Democratic primary for mayor of New York, according to a survey released on Wednesday.

The survey by Quinnipiac Universityfound 36 percent of likely Democratic voters backed Mr. de Blasio, the public advocate. Christine C. Quinn, the City Council speaker, who had long been the front-runner among Democrats, was backed by 21 percent, while William C. Thompson Jr., a former comptroller who in 2009 won the Democratic primary but lost the general election to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, had 20 percent.

The results confirm a remarkable surge in support for Mr. de Blasio among likely Democratic voters, who tend to be significantly more liberal than the general electorate.

Mr. de Blasio has staked out liberal positions in several areas, pledging to raise taxes on the wealthy to finance early childhood education, railing against the Police Department’s stop-and-frisk practice and vowing to break with Mr. Bloomberg on multiple issues.

Night POU. This rain is making me wish I could sleep in tomorrow, but work calls. Must say though- didn’t the Obamas look better than anybody else today- as usual? And loved seeing Trayvon’s parents up there. They are always in my thoughts- till justice is done. Peace !!
