    – – – —Good Polling News Mean Nothing – –

—- –I can still remember watching Mary Martin in the 1960 NBC production of Peter Pan, asking me and every other child watching the boob tube to clap to show we believed in fairies, because, if we all clapped enough, by God we could save Tinker Bell!

And we thought we had, all of us little four and five year-olds. But that was not true, of course. Our clapping did nothing, except hurt our hands. I know mine were as red as they had ever been before. Hurt like a Mofo.

That’s sort of the way I feel about polls right now. A week or two ago we – our team – were down in the polls, and now we are up! Clap, clap, clap! Oh how wonderful!

Well clap all you want, but remember this. The only poll that counts is the one in which you walk or drive down to your local polling place, sign in, receive your ballot and vote for Barack Obama and every other Democrat.

Got that? Voting is what counts. — –SNIP – —

    – – So clap all you want, but more importantly next Tuesday, as bright and early as possible, go do the real work that is required of you as a citizen in our “still barely a” democracy – VOTE!

And then chide, harass and/or assist anyone else you know get to their precinct to cast their votes, also.

Do that and then maybe later that night we will have something to clap about.

    – – —- but more importantly next Tuesday, as bright and early as possible, go do the real work that is required of you as a citizen in our “still barely a” democracy – VOTE! —:>) – –Woo! Hoo! – – –

    Heads Up! Ohio

BREAKING: Three Bush-Appointed Judges Give Thumbs Up To Voter Disenfranchisement In Ohio | Late last week, a federal district court ordered Ohio to stop disenfranchising voters who are directed to vote at the wrong polling place due to poll worker error. Earlier today, a severely conservative panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit stayed this order, ruling that Ohio may disenfranchise these voters — even when their error is due to false instructions from a poll worker — because they believed allowing these votes to be counted would “absolve[] voters of all responsibility for voting in the correct precinct.” The panel included Judges Julia Smith Gibbons and Deborah Cook, both George W. Bush appointees, and Judge Lee Rosenthal, a George H.W. Bush appointee.

Wow, I hope this provides the boost he needs, Nebraska would be a big senate win!Report: Chuck Hagel to back Bob Kerrey in Nebraska Senate raceSo maybe it won’t be a blowout after all?

After an election season in which he was all but written off, Democrat Bob Kerrey, a former Nebraska senator and governor, appears to be within striking distance of returning to the Senate from the deeply red state of Nebraska.

Polls show his race against Republican Deb Fischer, a contest in which Kerrey once lagged in the double digits, has tightened considerably.more here:

    • goldenstar

This is huge. So many political know-it-alls gave him no way to win. Hagel is a big ole Repub so this is really wild. Very very very good news.

Did you read the comments? The comments are all positive, and everyone is surprised.

      Something’s big changed this week.

Pres. Obama said long time ago:

It’s happening (like Nellcote) says down thread.

    DAYUM I love twitter!
Brad Woodhouse @woodhouseb Democratic Party Communications Director is having a fight(?) with Tim Miller @Timodc Deputy Communications Director for rnc. Woodhouse got the little boy to admit R/R realize they CAN’T win Ohio and are looking for other paths to 270 ie IA,CO, and NV. Being rethuglicans and not knowing how to do math, those three will get them 269 not 270. Could it be they are hoping that boner and house will help them out?
Oh and they have given up on MI,MN and PA. lol

    • Ebogan63

They ain’t winning NV or IA per early voting, and hell they may not even get FL or NC!

      • angee

lol, I know. It’s so bad that they are screaming “but we are doing better than mccain/palin!” That’s how low they have set the bar for themselves.

        • conlakappa

Yet they aren’t so even the low bar is too high!

    • JojoRaze

This is simple electoral math. PBO has many ways to win and Mittens doesn’t. PBO wins OH and FL and he wins. If he doesn’t win FL, but wins VA, NH, OH, CO, NV and all the Midwest states save Indiana he’s good for 303 EV to Mittens’ 235.

Mittens is still lying in OH and been called to the carpet for it, talmbout “Imma win!” And the reason why the media is calling him out too, is that Mittens has done no interviews. You are trying to beat an incumbent and decide to go ghost the last 7 days? WDDA?

    • JojoRaze

I can see PBO soldifying support just for the Sandy response. PBO and FEMA told people this is serious, the preparation was on point; McDonnell, Christie and Bloomberg saying on Twitter that the Feds have been on-point. This is versus Mittens scaring the crap out of automotive workers with his lies and doing a fake photo op to cover his plans to dismantle FEMA.

      • Ebogan63

I believe as you do, that it will play a role in putting PBO over the top, by just him being the president.

      • nellcote

If you have the time, go back and watch Prez Obama’s convention speech. What’s playing out before our eyes 24/7 on cable is the very embodiment of his thesis of what our democracy could be. Cats and dogs working together for the common benefit of all.

I’m glad Nate is sticking to his guns here since this isn’t “he said, she said,” this is math. If Nate is wrong, why is Politico taking it so personal? Where are their polls? Since Unskewed Polls has been thoroughly debunked, they are still acting pressed?

      • Ebogan63

I have had issues with Nate adding polls to his model that he should not, IMO, but I really have a big problem with these idiots from Politico trolling him cuz his model upsets their constant ‘Obama Doomed’ narrative they have persued since Jan 20 ’09. None of them have any cred as far as math to rebut Nate.

      • nellcote

why is Politico taking it so personal?
Nate’s exposing Politico for being the political gossip/porn site that it is.

    — —African-American ministers criticize Franklin Graham – –

    – – – For the second time during the presidential campaign, a group of African-American ministers in North Carolina has criticized Franklin Graham for challenging the spiritual beliefs of President Barack Obama, accusing the evangelist Monday of promoting a narrow form of Christianity that supports a politically conservative point of view.

Meeting in Charlotte, the group read an open letter to Graham that comes in response to a series of full-page ads that bear a photograph of his father, Billy Graham, and ask voters to elect candidates who support “biblical principles.”

    – – – — -SNIP- —

He said he has cast an early ballot for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, whose positions “are more in line with the moral teachings that I believe in.” During a meeting this month at his home in Montreat, N.C., the elder Graham offered to help Romney ” any way I can.”

    — –State NAACP President William Barber accused Graham of “being seduced by the sirens of money and power,” and of “cherry-picking the easy parts of Christianity” that serve his partisan politics. In doing so, Barber said, Graham has ignored the broader messages of the Bible to help the poor, feed the hungry and treat the sick.

“These texts, Brother Graham, are so primary to our faith tradition but so secondary in your critique,” Barber said, surrounded by more than a dozen other ministers. Why do some Christian conservatives “say so little about what God says so much, and so much about what God says so little? To exclude this focus and try to make a claim of concern for Christian values is hollow at best and heretical at worst.”

I will be so happy when Rush Limbaugh gets his comeuppance. Lawrence O’Donnell just showed a clip of this ass acting like he was PBO making a call to Christie…and he was talking in this awful dialect that anyone w/ sense realizes does not sound like the President. I wish someone would come on out with some pictures on him or something.

    • JojoRaze

Rush Limbaugh needs to quit while he’s behind. He already messed with Sandra Fluke and have major sponsors jump ship.

That was his “God is trying to tell you something moment” but like the scripture says, ‘The end is not yet…” So Rush better get right with his maker and take PBO’s name out of his mouth, since PBO is drug-free and on his first and only marriage.

He gonna end up worse than Dinesh D’Souza and Dinesh’s downfall came fast.

    • conlakappa

I think there are plenty of photos of him with dead girls or live boys but his paymasters make sure they don’t see the light of day. Those must be some well-paid-off ex-wives.

Yes. Obama is converting him. His ultimate motivation may be self serving, but he seems genuine now. Maybe it is easier to fall in line with the right behavior and a charismatic leader when your big,big back is to the wall. He’s self indulgent. Maybe the positive stroking appeals.

It’s really interesting how folks like Rachel Maddow, Cenk Ugyur etc. who always find endless reasons to criticize and chip away at President Obama always gush and positively play up every random thing Andrew Cuomo or Michael Bloomberg says or does-

And nary a criticism when Cuomo and Bloomberg as they have quite often done, show a flagrant disregard for all those wonderful rights and policies Maddow and Cenk claim to support or stand for.

It has all been interesting to observe. But we shall get our turn to send many strong messages too.
